During cold weatherSalt and other chemicals spread on the roads in some areas in winter can have a harmful eff
ect on the vehicle body. You
should therefore wash the ve
hicle as often as possible in
accordance with our care-instruc
tions. It is recommended to
have a preservative applied an
d the underfloor protection
checked before and after
the cold weather season.
After washing your vehicle, wipe
off all waterdrops from the
rubber parts around the doors to prevent the doors from freez- ing.NOTE●
To prevent freezing of the w
eatherstripping on the doors,
bonnet, etc., they should be treated with silicone spray.
Waxing

Waxing the vehicle will help prev

road chemicals to the paintwor
k. Apply a wax solution after
washing the vehicle, or at l
east once every three months to
assist displacing of water.Do not wax your vehicle in direct sunlight. You should wax after the surfaces have cooled.
CAUTION
!●
Waxes containing high ab
rasive compounds should
not be used. Such waxes re
move rust and stain effec-
tively from the paintwork but they are harmful tothe lustre of the painted surface. Further, they are harmful to
glossy surfaces such as
grille, garnish, mouldings, etc.
●
Do not use petrol or paint thinners to remove road tar or other contaminatio
n to the vehicle surface.
●
Do not apply wax on the areas having black mat coating as it can cause
uneven disc
olouration,
patches, blurs, etc. If stained with wax, immediately wipe off with a piece of so
ft cloth and warm water.
●
On vehicles with the sunroof, be careful when wax- ing the area around the sunroof opening, not to put any wax on the weathers
trip (black rubber). If
stained with wax, the weat
herstrip cannot maintain
a weatherproof seal with the sunroof.

Polishing

The vehicle should only be polished if the paintwork has become stained or lost its lustre. Matt-finish parts and plastic bumpers must not be polished, polishing these parts will stain them or damage their finish.Damaged paint

Small cracks and scratches in the paint coat should be touched up as soon as possible with
MITSUBISHI touch-up paint to
prevent corrosion.Check body areas facing the road or the tyres carefully for damage to the paint coat caused by
flying stones, etc. The paint
code number for your vehicle can be found on the vehicleinformation code plate in
the engine compartment.
Cleaning plastic parts

Use a sponge or chamois leather. If a car wax adheres on a grey
or black rough surface of the
bumper, moulding or lamps,
the surface becomes white. In
such a case, wipe it off using lukewarm water and soft cloth orchamois leather.

Do not bring the plastic part

rt, wipe them off with soft
cloth, chamois or the like
and an aqueous solution of
neutral detergent then
immediately rinse the
affected parts with water.

3. Support the bonnet by inserting the support bar in its slot.
To close 1. Unlatch the support bar and clip it in its holder. 2. Slowly lower the bonnet to a position about 30 cm above
the closed position, then let it drop.
3. Make sure the bonnet is securely locked by softly lifting
the centre of the bonnet.
NOTE●
If this does not close the bonne
t, release it from a slightly
higher position.

Do not press down the bonnet hard with a hand as it may damage the bonnet.
CAUTION
!●
Note that the support bar may disengage the bonnet if the open bonnet is lifted by a strong wind.
●
After inserting the suppor
t bar into the slot, make
sure the bar supports the bonnet securely from fall-ing down on to your head or body.
CAUTION
!●
Be careful that hands or fingers are not trapped when closing the bonnet.

Engine coolant

To check the coolant levelA translucent coolant reserve tank
is located in the engine com-
partment. The coolant level in this tank should be kept between the“LOW” and “FULL” marks when measured while the engine is cold.
To add coolantThe cooling system is a closed
system and normally the loss of
coolant should be very slight.
A noticeable drop in the coolant
level could indicate leakage. If
this occurs, we recommend you
to have the system checked as soon as possible. If the level should drop below th
e “LOW” level on the reserve
tank, open the lid
and add coolant.
Also, if the reserve tank is completely empty, remove the radia- tor cap and add coolant until the
level reaches the filler neck.
Anti-freezeThe engine coolant contains an ethylene glycol anti-corrosion agent. The cylinder head and
water pump housing are cast alu-
minium alloy, and periodic changing of the engine coolant is necessary to prevent corrosion of these parts. Use “DIA QUEEN SUPER LONG LIFE COOLANT” or equivalent.MITSUBISHI Genuine Coolan

Brake fluid

To check the fluid levelThe brake fluid level is monito
red by a float. When the brake
fluid level falls below the “MIN” mark, the brake fluid warning lamp lights up. The brake fluid level must be
between the “MAX” and “MIN”
marks on the reservoir.
If the level is below the “MIN
” mark, check according to the
following procedure:1. Turn the ignition key to the “LOCK” or “ACC” position. 2. Repeatedly depress the brake
pedal until significant resist-
ance is felt (normally after about 40 times).
3. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir.
The brake fluid level must be between the “MAX” and “MIN” marks on the reservoir.
The fluid level falls slightly with wear of the brake pads, but this does not indicate any abnormality.If the brake fluid level falls markedly in a short length of time, it indicates leaks fr
om the brake system.
If this occurs, we recommend yo
u to have the vehicle checked.
