OPERATION FLOW
SETTING THE VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
Initial Condition
 Ignition switch is in the OFF position.
Disarmed Phase
 When any door, trunk lid or hood is open, the vehicle security system is set in the disarmed phase on the
assumption that the owner is inside or near the vehicle.
 When the vehicle security system is in the disarmed phase, the security indicator lamp blinks every 2.4 sec-
onds.
Pre-armed Phase and Armed Phase
When the following operation is performed, the vehicle security system turns into the “pre-armed” phase. (The
security indicator lamp illuminates.)
1. BCM receives LOCK signal from front door request switch or Intelligent Key, after trunk lid, hood and all
doors are closed.
2. The security indicator lamp illuminates for 30 seconds. Then, the system automatically shifts into the
“armed” phase.

VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
CANCELING THE SET VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
When one of the following operations is performed, the armed phase is canceled.
1. Unlock the all doors with the door request switch or Intelligent Key.
2. Turn ignition switch to the “ON” or “ACC” position.
CANCELING THE ALARM OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
When unlocking all doors with the door request switch or Intelligent Key, the alarm operation is canceled.
ACTIVATING THE ALARM OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
Check that the system is in the armed phase. (The security indicator lamp blinks every 2.4 seconds.)
When the following operation 1 or 2 is performed, the system sounds the horns and blinks the hazard warning
lamp for about 27.5 seconds.
1. Trunk lid, hood or any door is opened during the armed phase.
2. Disconnecting and connecting the battery connector before canceling the armed phase.

Diagnosis mode Function Description
Work Support Changes the setting for each system function.
Self Diagnostic Result Displays the diagnosis results judged by BCM.
CAN Diag Support MonitorMonitors the reception status of CAN communication viewed from BCM. Refer to CONSULT-III opera-
tion manual.
Data Monitor The BCM input/output signals are displayed.
Active Test The signals used to activate each device are forcibly supplied from BCM.
Ecu Identification The BCM part number is displayed.
Configuration Read and save the vehicle specification.
 Write the vehicle specification when replacing BCM.

DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (BCM)
The BCM records the following condition at the moment a particular DTC is detected.
 Vehicle Speed
 Odo/Trip Meter
 Vehicle Condition (BCM detected condition)
IGN Counter
IGN counter indicates the number of times that ignition switch is turned ON after DTC is detected.
 The number is 0 when a malfunction is detected now.
 The number increases like 1 → 2 → 3...38 → 39 after returning to the normal condition whenever ignition
switch OFF → ON.
 The number is fixed to 39 until the self-diagnosis results are erased if it is over 39.

BCM CONSULT-III FUNCTION
CONSULT-III performs the following functions via CAN communication with BCM.

ENGINE RUN Power supply position is “RUN” (Ignition switch ON with engine running)
CRANKING Power supply position is “CRANKING” (At engine cranking)
Diagnosis mode Function Description

HAZARD ANSWER BACKHazard reminder function mode can be selected from the following in this mode.
 LOCK ONLY: Door lock operation only

ANS BACK I-KEY LOCKBuzzer reminder function (lock operation) mode by door request switch (driver side and passenger

ANS BACK I-KEY UNLOCKBuzzer reminder function (unlock operation) mode by door request switch can be changed to op-
erate (ON) or not operate (OFF) in this mode.

INSIDE ANT DIAGNOSIS This function allows inside key antenna self-diagnosis.

OUTSIDE BUZZERThis test is able to check Intelligent Key warning buzzer operation.
The Intelligent Key warning buzzer will be activated when “ON” on CONSULT-III screen is touched.
INSIDE BUZZERThis test is able to check warning chime in combination meter operation.
 Take away warning chime sounds when “TAKE OUT” on CONSULT-III screen is touched.
 Key warning chime sounds when “KEY” on CONSULT-III screen is touched.

TRUNK/BACK DOORThis test is able to check trunk lid opener actuator open operation.
