The key cannot be removed from
the lock until the cap is refi tted.
FUEL TANK

Fuel tank capacity: approximately
50 litres (petrol) or 45 litres (Diesel).
Opening the fi ller cap may create a
noise a caused by an inrush of air. This
vacuum is entirely normal, resulting
from the sealing of the fuel system.
To fi ll the tank in complete safety:

 it is imperative that the engine is
switched off,

 open the fuel fi ller fl ap,

 insert the key in the cap, then turn it
to the left,
When you have fi lled the tank:

 put the cap back in place,

 turn the key to the right, then remove
it from the cap,

 close the fl ap.

 remove the cap and hook it onto the
clip located on the inside of the fl ap,

 fi ll the tank, but do not continue
after the 3rd cut-off of the pump ;
this could cause malfunctions.
Low fuel level
Filling
When the fuel tank minimum
level is reached this warning
lamp comes on on the instru-
ment panel. When it fi rst comes
on there remains approximately 5 litres
of fuel in the tank.
Refuel as soon as possible to avoid run-
ning out of fuel.
If you run out of fuel (Diesel), refer also
to the "Practical information" section.
A label affi xed to the inside of the fl ap
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used depending on your engine.
Additions of fuel must be of at least 5 litres,
in order to be taken into account by the fuel
gauge.

Quality of the fuel used for petrol
engines
The petrol engines are perfectly com-
patible with E10 type petrol biofuels
(containing 10 % ethanol), conforming
to European standards EN 228 and
EN 15376.
E85 type fuels (containing up to 85 %
ethanol) are reserved exclusively for ve-
hicles marketed for the use of this type
of fuel (BioFlex vehicles). The quality of
the ethanol must comply with European
standard EN 15376.
For Brazil only, special vehicles are
marketed to run on fuels containing up
to 100 % ethanol (type E100). Quality of the fuel used for Diesel
engines
The Diesel engines are perfectly com-
patible with biofuels which conform to
current and future European standards
(diesel fuel which complies with stand-
ard EN 590 mixed with a biofuel which
complies with standard EN 14214)
available at the pumps (containing up
to 7 % Fatty Acid Methyl Ester).
The B30 biofuel can be used in cer-
tain Diesel engines; however, this use
is subject to strict application of the
special servicing conditions. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.
The use of any other type of (bio)fuel
(vegetable or animal oils, pure or dilut-
ed, domestic fuel...) is strictly prohibited
(risk of damage to the engine and fuel
circuit).

BONNET
Protects the components of the engine and provides access for checking levels.
 Push the exterior control B to the left and raise the bonnet.
 Unclip the strut C from its housing.
Fix the strut in one of the two notchesto hold the bonnet open.
Closing
 Take the strut out of the support notch.
 Clip the strut in its housing.
 Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel.
 Pull on the bonnet to check that it is secured correctly.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL
(DIESEL)
If your vehicle is fi tted with an HDI engine, the fuel circuit must be reprimed if you run out of fuel (refer to the corre-sponding graphic).
This system consists of a repriming pump and a transparent pipe.
Opening
 Open the front left door.
 Pull the interior control A , located at the bottom of the door frame.
1.4 litre Turbo HDI engine
 Open the bonnet.
 Fill the fuel tank with at least fi ve litres of diesel.
 Squeeze and release the repriming pump until fuel appears in the trans-parent pipe.
 Operate the starter until the engine starts.
 Close the bonnet.
1.6 litre Turbo HDI 16V engine
 Open the bonnet.
Fill the fuel tank with at least fi ve litres of diesel.
 Unclip the style cover to gain access to the repriming pump.
Squeeze and release the repriming pump until fuel appears in the trans-parent pipe with the green connector.
 Operate the starter until the engine starts.
 Put the style cover back in position and clip it in place.
 Close the bonnet.
