Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Anti-lock
Braking System (ABS) fi x e d .
The anti-lock braking
system has a fault. The vehicle retains conventional braking without
servo assistance.
Drive carefully at reduced speed and contact a
PEUGEOT dealer without delay.
Dynamic
stability control
(ESP/ASR) fl a s h i n g .
The ESP/ASR regulation is
active. The system optimises traction and improves the
directional stability of the vehicle.
fi x e d . Unless it has been
deactivated with the indicator
lamp on the button on, the
ESP/ASR system is faulty. Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Engine
autodiagnosis system fi x e d .
The emission control
system has a fault.
This lamp should switch off when the engine is sta
rted.
If it does not switch off, contact a PEUGEOT deale r
urgently.
fl a s h i n g . The engine management
system has a fault. Risk of destruction of the catalytic convertor.
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Low fuel level fi x e d w i t h
the last

5 litres of fuel in the tank. Refuel as soon as possible to avoid running out
of fuel.
This warning lamp wil come on every time the
i g n i t i o n i s s w i t c h e d o n , u n t i l a s u f fi c i e n t a d d i t i o n
of fuel is made.
Fuel tank capacity: approximately 50 litres
(petrol) or 45 litres (Diesel).
Never continue to drive until you run out of fuel,
this could damage the emission control and
injection systems.

The distance remaining may be weight-
ed by the time factor, depending on the
driver's driving habits.
Therefore, the spanner may also
come on if you have exceeded the
two year service interval.
Service overdue
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on,
t h e s p a n n e r fl a s h e s to
indicate that the service must be carried
out as soon as possible.
Example: the service is overdue by
300 miles/km.
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the display indicates:
5 seconds after the ignition is switched
on, the distance recorder resumes its
normal operation. The spanner re-
mains lit. Service indicator zero reset
After each service, the service indicator
must be reset to zero.
The procedure for resetting to zero is as
follows:
switch off the ignition,
press and hold the trip distance re-
corder zero reset button,
switch on the ignition; the distance
recorder display begins a count-
down,
when the display indicates "=0" , re-
lease the button; the spanner disap-
pears.
Following this operation, if you wish
to disconnect the battery, lock the
v e h i c l e a n d w a i t a t l e a s t fi v e m i n -
utes for the zero reset to be taken
into account.

Total distance recorder
System which measures the total dis-
tance travelled by the vehicle during its
life. Lighting rheostat
System for manual adjustment of the
brightness of the instruments and controls
in relation to the exterior brightness. CLOCK
Integrated system which displays the time with independent setting of the hours and minutes.
The total and trip distances are displayed for
thirty seconds when the ignition is switched
off, when the driver's door is opened and
when the vehicle is locked or unlocked.
Trip distance recorder
System which measures a distance
travelled during a day or other period
since it was reset to zero by the driver.
With the ignition on, press the button
until zeros appear. Activation
When the lights are on:
press the button to change the
brightness of the instruments and
controls,
when the lighting reaches the mini-
mum setting, release the button,
then press again to increase it,
or
when the lighting reaches the maxi-
mum setting, release the button,
then press again to reduce it,
when the lighting reaches the level of
brightness required, release the button.
Deactivation
When the vehicle lighting is off, or in
d a y m o d e o n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h d a y -
time running lamps, pressing the button
does not have any effect. Setting

No person or object must prevent
the seat slide from returning to its
initial position; return to this posi-
tion is necessary for the seat to
lock in place.
Take care not to trap the seat belt
to avoid hindering the passage of
the rear passengers.
4. Access to rear seats (3-door)
Pull the handle to fold the seat back
and move the seat forwards. On re-
positioning, the seat returns to its
initial position. 5 . H e a d r e s t r a i n t h e i g h t a d j u s t m e n t
To raise the head restraint, pull it up-
wards.
To remove the head restraint, press
the lug A and pull the head restraint
upwards.
To put the head restraint back in po-
sition, locate the stems of the head
restraint in the holes, taking care
to keep them in line with the seat
back.
To lower the head restraint, press
the lug A and the head restraint at
the same time. The head restraint has a frame with
a notch which prevents the head
restraint from lowering; this is a
safety device which provides pro-
tection in the event of an impact.
T h e a d j u s t m e n t i s c o r r e c t w h e n
the upper edge of the head re-
straint is level with the top of the
head.
Never drive with the head restraints
removed; they must be in place and
correctly adjusted.

Folding the seat (SW)
This operation can be carried out at the rear seats or through the opening rear screen.
To fold a rear seat without any risk of
damage:
move the corresponding front seat
forward if necessary,
place the head restraints in the low
position, Check that no object could hinder
the movement of the bench seat,
either above or below.
Repositioning the seat (SW)
pull the control 1 forward to release
the seat back 2 which folds easily
onto the seat cushion 3 .
When repositioning the rear seat,
straighten the seat back 2 and lock it.
Check that the red indicator, located at control 1 , is no longer visible.

MIRRORS
Exterior mirrors
Adjustable mirror permitting the lateral
rearward vision necessary when over-
taking or parking. Folding
from outside: lock the vehicle using
the remote control or the key.
from inside: with the ignition on, pull
switch A rearwards.
Manual model A d j u s t m e n t
Move the lever in all four directions
to direct the mirror correctly.
The folding and unfolding of the ex-
terior mirrors can be deactivated by
a PEUGEOT dealer.
Folding
When parked, fold the mirror manu-
ally to protect it.
Unfolding
Before starting, unfold the mirror.
Electric model
A d j u s t m e n t
Slide switch A to the right or to the left
to select the corresponding mirror.
Move knob B in all four directions to
adjust.
Return switch A to the centre position. Unfolding
from outside: unlock the vehicle using
the remote control or the key.
from inside: with the ignition on, pull
switch A rearwards.

STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENT
The height and reach of the steering
wheel can be adjusted to adapt the driv-
ing position to the size of the driver.
A d j u s t m e n t
When stationary,stationarystationary pull the control to unlock the steering wheel.
Adjust the height and reach.
Push the control to lock the steering wheel.
SUN VISOR
Component which protects against sunlight
from the front or the side, also equipped with
an illuminated courtesy mirror.
With the ignition on, raise the con-
c e a l i n g fl a p ; t h e m i r r o r i s l i t a u t o m a -
tically.
This sun visor is also equipped with a
ticket holder.
TOLL CARD/CAR PARK TICKET
WINDOWS
F a c i l i t y f o r a f fi x i n g t o l l c a r d s a n d / o r c a r
park tickets.
These windows are located on each
side of the base of the interior mirror.
T h e y a r e t w o n o n - r e fl e c t i v e a r e a s o f t h e
athermic windscreen.

REMOTE CONTROL KEY
System which permits central unlocking
or locking of the vehicle using the lock
or remotely. It also locates and starts
the vehicle, as well as providing protec-
tion against theft. Unfolding the key
First press button A to unfold the
key.
Unlocking the vehicle
U n l o c k i n g i s c o n fi r m e d b y r a p i d fl a s h i n g
of the direction indicators for approxi-
mately two seconds.
According to version, the exterior mirrors
unfold at the same time. Locking the vehicle
Press the open padlock to
unlock the vehicle.
Unlocking using the key
Turn the key to the left in the driver's
door lock to unlock the vehicle. Normal locking using the key
Turn the key to the right in the driver's
door lock to lock the vehicle.

the direction indicators for approximately
two seconds.
According to version, the exterior mirrors
fold at the same time.
Unlocking using the remote control
Press the closed padlock to
lock the vehicle.
Press the closed padlock for
more than two seconds to
close the windows automati-
cally in addition to locking (with
sequential electric windows).
If one of the doors, the boot or the
rear screen is still open, the central
locking does not take place.
Normal locking using the remote
control

Deadlocking renders the exterior
and interior door controls inoperative.
It also deactivates the manual cen-
tralised control button.
Therefore, do not leave anyone
inside the vehicle when it is dead-
locked.
Deadlocking using the remote
control
Press the closed padlock to lock the
vehicle.
Press the closed padlock again

vehicle.
Deadlocking using the key
Turn the key to the right in the driver's
door lock to lock the vehicle.
Turn the key to the right again within
fi v e s e c o n d s t o d e a d l o c k t h e v e h i c l e .

of the direction indicators for approximately
two seconds.
According to version, the exterior mirrors
fold at the same time.
The vehicle will relock automati-
cally after thirty seconds unless a
door is opened. This system pre-
vents unintentional unlocking.
The folding and unfolding of the
exterior mirrors can be deactivated
by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Folding the key
First press button A to fold the key.
Electronic engine immobiliser
The key contains an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the
ignition is switched on, this code must
be recognised in order for starting to be
possible.
This electronic engine immobiliser locks
the engine management system a few
minutes after the ignition is switched off
and prevents starting of the engine by
anyone who does not have the key.
Anti-theft protection
In the event of a malfunction,
you are informed by lighting of
this warning lamp, an audible
signal and a message on the
multifunction screen.
In this case, your vehicle does not start;
contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.
Unlocking and partial opening
of the rear screen (SW)
Press this button for more
than two seconds to par-
tially open the rear screen.
This action will unlock the
v e h i c l e fi r s t .
The boot and the rear screen cannot
both be open at the same time.
