For economical driving, caring for the environment


The fuel consumptionof a vehicle varies greatly:


- according to the driver's style of driving
(moderate, aggressive, fast, ...),

- according to the type of journeys
made (urban, main road, motorway, flowing, heavy traffic, …) and the speed.


Main recommendations for driving economically


Hybrid mode selector
To optimise fuel consumption, use the Automodeof the selector whenever possible (the mode is activated
automatically when starting) including for urban journeys.
This mode optimises the use of the energy sources (internal combustion engine and/or electric) contrary to other modes, which are for use in par ticular cases.


Gear lever
Use the automatic
mode A
as much as possible as this optimises gear changes to suit the requirements.


Drive smoothly
Stay in the "eco" zone
displayed in the energy consumption/generation indicator: accelerate gently, drive atsteady speeds using the speed limiter or cruise control as soon as possible. Use the "charge" zone
: anticipate the need to slow down by taking your foot off the accelerator rather than
braking. The movement of the energy consumption/generation indicator needle (into the "charge" zone), shows
the level of energy recovery.

See the impact of your style of driving and the type of journey by reviewing the history of your energyconsumption. Refer to the "Multifunction screens" section.


Causes of high consumption and checks
As with any vehicle, limit overloading, wind resistance (windows open above 30 mph (50 km/h), roof rack, loaded
or not, …), the use of power consumers (air conditioning, heated seats, heated rear screen, …).
Obser ve the recommendations on checks (regular check of tyre pressures, correct tyre pressures, …) and routine servicing.

Interior mood lighting

This subdued passenger compar tment lighting
improves visibility inside the vehicle in low light conditions.

Head-up display

This system projects speed and cruise control/speed limiter information onto a smoked strip
in the driver's field of vision, so that they do not need to take their eyes off the road.

Starting your vehicle and moving off




- Inser t the electronic key in the switch,
or if your vehicle has Keyless Entry and Starting, keep the electronic key in the
vehicle.

Ensure that the gear lever is in position N.

- Press firmly on the brake pedal.



- With the brake still applied, move the
gear
lever to position A to go for wards or R(bylifting the lever slightly) for reverse.

- Lift your foot off the brake pedal, you canmove off.

- The parking brake is released automatically
as
you move off.
- Pr
ess the START/STOP
button or turn
the key fully towards the dashboard to
position 3(Starting), to star t the hybrid system.

The instrument panel and the Readylamp light up. The power graduation is displayed progressively, indicating that the
hybrid system is active, confirmed by
a messa
ge in the screen; the dial in the centre console is in AUTO
mode (default
mode for star ting).
- The hybrid system determines whether it is
necessary to star t the Diesel engine.
When your vehicle vehicle moves off in electric mode, it makes no noise. Be very careful of pedestrians as they will not hear you coming.

Examples of displays
On starting and when stationary
There is no flow of energy (the Stop & Star t system stops and restar ts the Diesel engine automatically).
Energy recovery
During this phase (deceleration, braking, foot off theaccelerator, … all modes), the battery is recharged by the electric motor/generator, then being driven by the rear wheels.
100 % electric
In all electric running (AUTO or ZEV modes), only the electricmotor, powered by the battery, drives the rear wheels.
The display of "Zero Emissions" indicates that the Diesel engine
is off and the vehicle is producing no CO2.

Average consumption over the last 5 minutes.
Resetting the history

With the hybrid system active, when trip 2displayed, press the control for 2 seconds to
reset the history to zero.

For more information on the trip computer, refer to the corresponding section. "60 % H
ybrid Use" corresponds to 60 % of the running
time driven by the hybrid system and 40 % of the time
with the Diesel engine only (with no contribution from thehybrid system).

Hybrid system








200 V high voltage battery
The Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride) type 200 Vhigh voltage battery is located below the boot floor, close to the electric motor. It cannot berecharged from a mains supply.


Charging

The battery is charged when the vehicledecelerates, the electric motor then becoming
a generator and converts kinetic energy intoelectrical energy (except if the speed of the
vehicle is above 70 mph (120 km/h)).
The battery is not recharged from a mains
supply.
The battery may also be charged automatically
when required by the Stop & Star t system of
the Diesel engine.
This recover
y allows the use of "free" energy.
The battery charging time is very shor t and is
continuous.
A discharged battery (following ZEV running or high load, for example) will quickly return to astate of charge sufficient for full operation of the
different hybrid modes.
Thecharging takes place automatically
when driving. The energy recovery can be faster during deceleration.


To preser ve the ser vice life of the battery, the level of charge never falls below 20 %, even if a level of 0 bars is displayed after ZEV running.
