Press or pull the control, beyond the

or closes fully when the control is

T h e e l e c t r i c a l f u n c t i o n s o f t h e e l e c t r i c

HORN
Press the centre of the steering wheel.
HANDBRAKE
Applying
Pull the handbrake to immobilise your
vehicle.
Check that the handbrake is applied
fi r m l y b e f o r e l e a v i n g t h e v e h i c l e . Releasing
Pull the handle and press the button to
lower the handbrake. HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
Press this button, the direction
i n d i c a t o r s fl a s h .
They can operate with the ignition off.
The hazard warning lights should only
be used in dangerous situations, when
stopping in an emergency or when
driving in unusual conditions.
When parking on a slope, direct your
wheels towards the pavement and pull
the handbrake.
There is no advantage in engaging
a gear after parking the vehicle,
particularly if the vehicle is loaded.
If the handbrake is still on or has
not been released properly, this is
indicated by this warning light which
comes on on the instrument panel.
Automatic lighting of hazard
warning lights
When braking in an emergency,
depending on the force of deceleration,
the hazard warning lights come
on automatically. They switch off
a u t o m a t i c a l l y t h e fi r s t t i m e y o u
accelerate.
It is also possible to switch them off by
pressing the button on the fascia.

Parking assistance
The audible and/or visual rear parking assistance consists of four proximity sensors, installed in the rear bumper. The sensors detect any obstacle which e n t e r s t h e fi e l d : p e r s o n , v e h i c l e , t r e e , fence, behind the vehicle during the manoeuvre.
Certain objects detected at the beginning of the manoeuvre will no longer be detected at the end of the manoeuvre due to the blind spots between and below the sensors. E x a m p l e s : s t a k e , r o a d w o r k s c o n e o r pavement post.

Change to neutral.
A n a u d i b l e s i g n a l c o n fi r m s t h e activation of the system by engaging reverse gear.
The proximity information is indicated by an audible signal which becomes more rapid as the vehicle approaches the obstacle. When the distance between the rear of the vehicle and the obstacle is less than approximately thirty centimetres, the audible signal becomes continuous.

Activation/Deactivation Operating fault
In the event of an operating fault, when reverse gear is engaged the diode on the button comes on, accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the display. Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Good practice
In bad weather or in winter, ensure that the sensors are not covered with mud, ice or snow.
The system will be deactivated automatically if a trailer is being towed o r i f a b i c y c l e c a r r i e r i s fi t t e d ( v e h i c l e fi t t e d w i t h a t o w b a r o r b i c y c l e c a r r i e r recommended by PEUGEOT ).
The parking assistance cannot, in any circumstances, take the place of the vigilance and responsibility of the driver.
You can activate or deactivate the system by pressing this button.
The activation or deactivation of the system is stored when the vehicle stops.

(ABS - EBFD)
T h e A B S a n d E B F D ( e l e c t r o n i c b r a k e
force distribution) systems improve the
stability and manoeuvrability of your
vehicle on braking, in particular on
poor or slippery surfaces.
The ABS prevents locking of the
wheels, the EBFD provides control of
the braking pressure wheel by wheel. If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on
the display, it indicates a
malfunction of the ABS which
could result in a loss of control of the
vehicle on braking.
If this warning light comes
on, together with the brake
and STOP warning lights,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, it indicates a malfunction of
the electronic brake force distribution
which could result in a loss of control of
the vehicle on braking.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM (EBA)
In an emergency, this system enables
the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, press the pedal
fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g i t .
It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is activated.
This alters the resistance of the brake
pedal under your foot.
To prolong the operation of the
e m e r g e n c y b r a k i n g a s s i s t a n c e s y s t e m :
keep your foot on the brake pedal.
Good practice
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock. It does not
reduce the braking distance.
O n v e r y s l i p p e r y s u r f a c e s ( i c e , o i l , e t c . . . )
the ABS may increase the braking
distance. When braking in an
emergency, do not hesitate to press
t h e b r a k e p e d a l fi r m l y , w i t h o u t
releasing the pressure, even on a
slippery surface, you will then be able
to continue to manoeuvre the vehicle
to avoid an obstacle.
Normal operation of the ABS may be
felt by slight vibration of the brake
pedal.
W h e n c h a n g i n g w h e e l s ( t y r e s
and rims), ensure that these are
recommended by PEUGEOT.
Stop immediately.
In both cases, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.

TRACTION CONTROL (ASR)
AND DYNAMIC STABILITY
CONTROL (ESP)
These systems are linked and
complement the ABS.
The ASR system is very useful for
maintaining optimum drive and
avoiding losses of control of the vehicle
on acceleration.
The system optimises drive to prevent
the wheels skidding, by acting on the
brakes of the drive wheels and on the
engine. It also allows the directional
stability of the vehicle to be improved
on acceleration.
Use the ESP to hold your course
without attempting to countersteer.
If there is a variation between the
trajectory followed by the vehicle and
that required by the driver, the ESP
system automatically acts on the
engine and the brake of one or more
wheels, in order to put the vehicle back
on course. Disarming the ASR/ESP
systems
In certain exceptional conditions
( s t a r t i n g t h e v e h i c l e w h e n s t u c k i n m u d
or snow, or on loose ground...), it could
prove useful to disarm the ASR and
ESP systems to make the wheels spin
and regain grip.
Operating check
Good practice
The ASR/ESP systems offer increased
safety during normal driving, but
should not incite the driver to take risks
or to drive at high speed.
The operation of these systems is
ensured if the recommendations
of the manufacturer regarding
t h e w h e e l s ( t y r e s a n d r i m s ) , t h e
braking components, the electronic
c o m p o n e n t s a n d t h e fi t t i n g a n d r e p a i r
procedures within the PEUGEOT
network are observed.
After an impact, have these systems
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Operation of the ASR and ESP
systems
T h e l u m i n o u s d i o d e fl a s h e s
when the ASR or ESP is
triggered.
They engage again:
- automatically above 30 mph ( 5 0 k m / h ) , When a malfunction of the
systems occurs, the indicator
light comes on, accompanied
by an audible signal and a
message on the display.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have
the system checked.
The warning light may also come on if
t h e t y r e s a r e u n d e r - i n fl a t e d . C h e c k t h e
pressure of each tyre.
- Press the button or turn the dial to the ESP OFF
p o s i t i o n ( d e p e n d i n g o n
model).
- T h e i n d i c a t o r l i g h t c o m e s o n : t h e A S R and ESP systems no longer act.

Grip control Correct use
Your vehicle is designed principally to
drive on tarmacked roads but it allows
you to drive on other less passable
terrain occasionally.
However, it does not permit all-terrain
a c t i v i t i e s s u c h a s :
- crossing and driving on
terrain which could damage
the underframe or strip away
c o m p o n e n t s ( f u e l p i p e , f u e l
cooler, ...) due to obstacles or
stones in particular,
- driving on terrain with steep gradients and poor grip,
- crossing a stream.
When driving on snow, mud or sand,
this traction system is linked with all-
s e a s o n M + S ( M u d a n d S n o w ) t y r e s
which offer an excellent compromise
between safety, grip and traction.
This equipment allows you to
manoeuvre in most conditions
of poor grip. Pressing the accelerator pedal
s h o u l d b e s u f fi c i e n t s o t h a t t h e
power of the engine can ensure
optimum management of the various
parameters.

This ESP mode is calibrated
for a low level of skidding,
based on different conditions
of grip encountered on the
road.
When the ignition is switched off,
the system returns automatically to
ESP mode.
This ESP OFF mode is
o n l y s u i t a b l e f o r s p e c i fi c
conditions encountered when
moving off or at low speed.
This mode is active up to
3 0 m p h ( 5 0 k m / h ) . This
snow mode allows the
vehicle to adapts its strategy
to the conditions of grip
encountered for each of the
two front wheels, on moving off.
When moving, the system optimises
the skidding to guarantee the best
acceleration possible in relation to the
grip available.
This all terrain m o d e ( m u d ,
wet grass...) allows, when
moving off, considerable
skidding on the wheel with
the least grip to favour
clearing of the mud and regain "grip".
At the same time, the wheel with the
most grip is controlled in such a way as
to pass as much torque as possible.
When moving, the system optimises
the skidding to respond to the driver’s
requirements as fully as possible. This
sand mode allows little
skidding on the two driving
wheels at the same time to
allow the vehicle to move
forward and limit the risks of
getting stuck in the sand.
Do not use the other modes on sand
as the vehicle may become stuck.

EMERGENCY OR ASSISTANCE
CALL
This on-board technology system
allows you to make, depending on the
b u t t o n s e l e c t e d :
- an emergency call to locate your vehicle and immediately summon
emergency assistance,
- an assistance call, in the event of a breakdown, to the dedicated
PEUGEOT assistance services.
These services are subject to
conditions and availability. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer. Emergency call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on
the emergency call button cancel
the request. The green warning lamp
goes out.
This call is operated by the PEUGEOT
Emergency platform, which receives
the information on the vehicle's
location and can then transmit all
the information necessary to the Operating fault
When the ignition is switched on,
the green warning lamp lights up for
approximately 3 seconds to indicate
that the system is operational.
If the orange warning lamp lights up
a n d fl a s h e s w h e n s w i t c h i n g o n t h e
ignition or during use, there is a system
fault.
If the orange warning lamp remains lit,
the back-up battery needs replacing.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Assistance call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on the
assistance call button cancel the

is established. It goes out at the end of

emergency services. In countries where
such a platform is not operational, or
if the vehicle cannot be located by the
service, the call is operated directly by
t h e e m e r g e n c y s e r v i c e s ( 1 1 2 ) .
In the event of a collision
detected by the airbags
computer, and regardless of
any deployment of the airbags,
the emergency call is made
automatically.

Seat belts
SEAT BELTS
Height adjustment
Squeeze the control with the return and
slide the assembly on the driver's seat
side and on the individual passenger
seat side.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
into the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap. Driver's seat belt not fastened
warning light
Unfastening
Press the red button.
When the vehicle is started,
this warning light comes on if
the driver has not fastened his
seat belt. Good practice
The driver must ensure that
passengers use the seat belts correctly
and that they are all strapped in
securely before moving off.
Wherever you are seated in the
vehicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n e r t i a
reel which automatically adjusts the
length of the strap to your size.
D o n o t u s e a c c e s s o r i e s ( c l o t h e s p e g s ,
clips, safety pins, etc.) which permit a
clearance with the seat belt straps.
Ensure that the seat belt is rolled up
correctly after use.
After folding or moving a seat or a rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt is
rolled up correctly and that the buckle
is ready to accommodate the tongue.
Depending on the nature and
seriousness of any impact, the
pretensioning device may be triggered
b e f o r e a n d i n d e p e n d e n t l y o f i n fl a t i o n
of the airbags. It instantly tightens
the seat belts against the body of the
occupants.
Triggering of the pretensioners is
accompanied by a slight discharge
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
to the activation of the pyrotechnic
cartridge incorporated in the system.
