Generalinformation
Warning!
Alwaysmakesureyourandyourpassengers’safetybeltsareproperlyfastenedwhilethevehicleisinmotion.Failuretofollowsafetybeltwarningsmayresultinseriouspersonalinjuryordeath.
Foryourandyourpassengers’protection,usesafetybeltsatalltimeswhilethevehicleisinmotion.
Useappropriatechildrestraintsystemsforallsmallchildren.
Warning!
Properwearingofsafetybelts
Safetybeltsmustbepositionedonthebodyastorestraintheupperbodyandlapfromslidingforward.Improperlypositionedsafetybeltscancauseseriouspersonalinjuryordeathincaseofanaccident.
Theshoulderbeltshouldalwaysrestonyourupperbody.Theshoulderbeltshouldneverbewornbehindyourbackorunderyourarm.
Formaximumeffectiveness,thelapbeltshouldbewornlowacrossthehips.
Pregnantwomenshouldpositionthebeltaslowaspossibleacrossthepelvis.Makesureitisnotpressingagainsttheabdomen.
Beltsshouldnotbeworntwisted.
Donotwearbeltsoverrigidorbreakableobjectsinoronyourclothing,suchaseyeglasses,pens,keys,etc.asthesemaycauseinjury.
Severallayersofheavyclothingmayinterferewithproperpositioningofbelts.
Beltsmustnotrubagainstsharpobjectsordamagemayoccurtothebelt.
Twooccupantsshouldneversharethesamebeltatthesametime.

Careandmaintenance
Keepbeltbucklesfreeofanyobstructionthatmaypreventasecurelocking.
Beltsthathavebeensubjectedtoexcessivestretchforcesinanaccidentmustbeinspect-edorreplacedtoensuretheircontinuedeffec-tivenessinrestrainingyou.Thesameappliestobelttensionersystemswhichhavebeentriggered.Inaddition,theanchorpointsofthebeltsshouldbechecked.
Ifsafetybeltsdonotworkproperly,seeyourauthorizedPorschedealerimmediately.
Ifthebeltsshowdamagetowebbing,bind-ings,bucklesorretractors,theyshouldbereplacedtoensuresafeoperation.
Donotmodifyordisassemblethesafetybeltsinyourvehicle.
Thebeltsmustbekeptcleanortheretractorsmaynotworkproperly.

Neverbleachordyesafetybelts.
Donotallowsafetybeltstoretractuntiltheyarecompletelydryaftercleaningorthismaycausedamagetothebelt.
Belttensioner
Dependingontheforceofanimpact,fastenedsafetybeltsaretightenedinanaccident.
Thebelttensionersaretriggeredin:
–Front,sideandrearimpactsofsufficientseverity.
–FortheCabriolet,incasesofvehiclerollover.
Note
Thebelt-tensionersystemcanbetriggeredonlyonce;thesystemmustbereplacedafterward.
Ifthereisafaultinthebelt-tensionersystem,theairbagwarninglightlightsup.

SportMode
Function
Asportiercarset-upisobtainedwhenSportmodeisswitchedon.InterventionsbythePorschecontrolsystemsareintentionallyshiftedtowardsgreateragilityanddrivingperformance.
–PASM(PorscheActiveSuspensionManagement)isautomaticallychangedtoSportmode,resultinginastiffersuspensionsetup.
–TheTiptronicSswitchestoasportygear-changingmapandshortensthegearshiftingperiods.Gearchangestakeplacefaster.
–PSM(PorscheStabilityManagement)controlissporty.PSMinterventionstakeplacelaterthaninNormalmode.Thedrivercanmaneuverthevehiclewithgreateragilityatitsperformancelimits,withouthavingtodispensewiththeassistanceofPSMinemergencysituations.Thishelpstoachieveoptimallaptimes,particularlyonracecircuitswithadryroadsurface.
–Theelectronicacceleratorpedalreactssooner,andtheengineismoreresponsivetothrottleinputs.WhenSportmodeisswitchedon,thisfunctionisactivatedonlyafterthedriverhasbrieflyreleasedtheacceleratorpedal.
–Therpmlimitercharacteristicis“harder”,i.e.theengineisimmediatelythrottledwhenthe
performancelimitsarereached(onlyinmanualselectionmodeforvehicleswithTiptronicS).
PleaseobservetheappropriatechaptersPSM,PASMandTiptronicS.
SwitchingSportmodeonandoff
PressSPORTbuttoninthecenterconsole.WhenSportmodeisswitchedon,thelight-emittingdiodeintheSPORTbuttonislit.
WhenSportmodeisswitchedon,thelogoSPORTappearsnexttothedigitalspeedometer.
SwitchingSportmodeonandoffsimultaneouslyactivatesanddeactivatestheSportmodeofthePASM.IftheSportmodeofthePASMwasactivatedwiththePASMbutton,itwillremainon.
Aftertheignitionisswitchedoff,SportmodeisautomaticallyresettoNormalmode.

–Therequiredpressuresforcoldtiresat68°F(20°C)areindicatedintheInfopressuredisplayintheTirepressuremenu.
–Tirepressurewarningsareissuedwithouttirepressureandpositioninformation(gure)assoonasthevehicle’sownwheelshavebeendetectedandthetirepressurewarninglighthasgoneout.
PositionandpressureinformationisdisplayedassoonastheTirePressureMonitoringhasassignedthewheelsidentifiedasbelongingtothevehicletothecorrectwheelpositions.
Thewheellearningprocesstakesplaceexclusivelywhenthevehicleisbeingdriven.
Manuallycheckthetirepressureatallwheelsandcorrectthetirepressuretotherequiredvalue.
Changingawheelandreplacingtires
Newwheelsmustbefittedwithradiotransmit-tersfortheTirePressureMonitoring.Beforetiresarechanged,thebatterychargestateofthewheeltransmittersshouldbecheckedatanauthorizedPorschedealer.
Switchtheignitionoffwhenchangingawheel.
Thetiresettingsontheon-boardcomputermustbeupdatedafterchangingawheel.
Amessageappearsifthecharacteristicsofthenewtiresdonotagreewiththeon-boardcomputersettings.
Updatetheon-boardcomputersettingswhenthevehicleisstationarythenexttime.
Warninglight
Thewarninglightinthespeedometerlightsup:
–Whenalossinpressurehasbeendetected
–IftheTirePressureMonitoringisfaulty
–Whenlearningnewlymountedwheels/wheelsensors,aslongasthevehicle’sownwheelshavenotyetbeenrecognized.
Thetirepressurewarninglightintheinstrumentpanelgoesoutonlywhenthecauseofthefaulthasbeenrectified.
Nomonitoring
IntheeventoffaultstheTirePressureMonitoringcannotmonitorthetirepressure.Thewarninglightontheinstrumentpanellightsupandacorrespondingmessageappearsontheon-boardcomputer.
Monitoringisnotactivewhen:
–theTirePressureMonitoringisfaulty,
–wheeltransmittersfortheTirePressureMonitoringaremissing,
–temporarilyafterchangingawheel(learningphase),
–morethanfourwheeltransmittersaredetect-ed,
–thereisexternalinterferencebyotherradiosources,e.g.wirelessheadphones,
–tiretemperaturesaretoohigh.
