Allcurrentengineoilsarecompatiblewitheachother,i.e.whenmakinganoilchangeitisnotnecessarytoflushtheengineifyouwishtouseadifferentbrandorgradeofoil.Since,however,eachbrandofoilhasaspecialcomposition,
youshould,ifpossible,usethesameoilbrandifitbecomesnecessarytotopupbetweenoilchanges.
Porscheengineshavelongintervalsbetweenoilchanges.Youcanmakebestuseoftheselongoilchangeintervalsbyusingmultigradeoilssincethesearelargelyindependentofseasonalfluctuationsintemperature.
Ifyourvehicleisusedfrequentlyinstop-and-gotrafficincoldweather,theenginewillnotalwaysbecompletelywarmedup.Condensationfromproductsofcombustionmayaccumulateintheoil.Inthiscase,itisadvisabletochangetheoilmorefrequentlysothatyourengineonceagainhas100%efficientoil.
Engineoilperformanceclass
Engineoilisnotonlyalubricant,butalsoservestokeeptheengineclean,toneutralizethedirtwhichpenetratesintotheenginethroughcombustionandtoprotecttheengineagainstcorrosion.Toperformthesefunctions,theoilisprovidedwithadditiveswhichhavebeenspeciallydevelopedforthesefunctions.Theefficiencyofanoilisexpressed,forexample,bytheAPI,ILSACorACEAclassifications.
Viscosity
Likeallliquids,engineoilisviscouswhencold,andthin-bodiedwhenwarm.TheviscosityofanoilisexpressedbyitsSAEclass.Forcoldviscosity(mesuredattemperaturesbelow32°F/0°C)

Single-gradeoilscannotbeusedinyourengine.

FuelEconomy
Fueleconomywillvarydependingonwhere,whenandhowyoudrive,optionalequipmentinstalled,andthegeneralconditionofyourcar.Acartunedtospecicationsandcorrect-lymaintained,willhelpyoutoachieveoptimalfueleconomy.
Haveyourvehicletunedtospecifications.Aircleanershouldbedirtfreetoallowproperengine“breathing”.Batteryshouldbefullycharged.Wheelsshouldbeproperlyaligned.Tiresshouldbeinflatedtothecorrectpres-sure.
Alwaysmonitoryourfuelconsumption.
Drivesmoothly,avoidabruptchangesinspeedasmuchaspossible.
Avoidjackrabbitstartsandsuddenstops.
Donotdrivelongerthannecessaryinthelowergears.Shiftingintoahighergearearlywithoutluggingtheenginewillhelpsavefuel.
Prolonged“warmup”idlingwastesgas.Startthevehiclejustbeforeyouarereadytodrive.Accelerateslowlyandsmoothly.
Switchofftheengineifstationaryforlongerperiods(trafficlights,jams,levelcrossings).
Anyadditionalweightcarriedinthevehiclereducesfueleconomy.Alwayskeepcargotoaminimumandremoveallunnecessaryitems.

Procedure
1.Important:Stoptheengineandswitchofftheignition.
2.Slowlyunscrewthetankcap.Hangthetankcapontheplasticstrapofthefillerflap.
3.Insertfuel-hosenozzlefullyintothefillerneckwiththehandleofthefuel-hosenozzlefacingdown.
4.Donotaddfurtherfueloncethecorrectlyoperatedautomaticfuel-hosenozzlehasswitchedoff.Fuelcouldsprayorcouldrunoverinwarmtemperatures.
5.Replacethetankcapimmediatelyafterrefuelingandturnituntilyouhearitandfeelitengage.
Ifyoulosethetankcap,youmustreplaceitonlywithanoriginalparttoreducethepossibilityofareintheeventofacollision.
