Belttensioner
Dependingontheforceofanimpact,fastenedsafetybeltsaretightenedinanaccident.
Thebelttensionersaretriggeredby:
–Front,sideandrearimpactsofsufficientseverity.
Note
Thebelttensionersystemcanbetriggeredonlyonce;thesystemmustbereplacedafterward.
Ifthereisafaultinthebelt-tensionersystem,theairbagwarninglightlightsup.
Workmaybeperformedonthebelt-tensionersystemonlybyanauthorizedPorschedealer.Smokeisreleasedwhenthebelttensionersaretriggered.Thisdoesnotindicateafireinthevehicle.
SafetyBeltWarningSystem
Anaudio-visualwarningsystemisinterconnect-edwiththedriver’ssafetybelt.
Everytimetheignitionisturnedon,thegongwillsoundforabout6secondstoreminddriverandpassengertobuckleup.Inaddition,thegongwillsoundforapprox.90secondsifthevehiclespeedexceeds15mph(24km/h).Thesafetybeltwarninglightintheinstrumentpanelandon-boardcomputerwillgooffassoonasthedriverhasbuckledup.
Inertiareelretractor
Thecombinationlap/shoulderbeltwithinertiareellockingmechanismadjustsautomaticallytoyoursizeandmovementsaslongasthepullonthebeltisslow.
Rapiddecelerationduringhardbrakingoracollisionlocksthebelt.Thebeltwillalsolockwhenyoudriveupordownasteephillorinasharpcurve,otherwise,theshoulderbeltwillnotinhibityourupperbodymovement.
Fasteningthesafetybelt
Assumeacomfortablesittingposition.

Theshoulderbeltshouldalwaysrestonyourupperbody.Theshoulderbeltshouldneverbewornbehindyourbackorunderyourarm.
Graspbeltandpullthebeltinacontinuousslowmotionacrossyourchestandlap.
Insertbelttongueintobuckleoninboardsideofseat.Pushdownuntilitsecurelylockswithanaudibleclick.Pullthebelttocheck.
Pullshouldersectiontomakesurebeltfitssnuglyacrossthepelvis.
Beltsshouldfitsnuglyacrossthepelvisandchest.Makesurethereisnoslackinthebelt.
Releasingthesafetybelt
Pushinreleasebutton(arrow)onbuckle.Belttonguewillspringoutofbuckle.
Toreleasealatchedbelt,leanbacktotakethebodypressureoffthebelt.
Tostorelap/shoulderbelt,allowthebelttoretractasyouguidethelatchtoitsstowedposition.

FMreception
Avehicleisnotanidealplacetolistentoaradio.Becausethevehiclemoves,receptionconditionsareconstantlychanging.Buildings,terrain,signaldistanceandnoisefromothervehiclesareallworkingagainstgoodreception.SomeconditionsaffectingFMmayappeartobeproblemswhentheyarenot.
Thefollowingcharacteristicsarecompletelynormalforagivenreceptionarea,andtheydonotindicateanyproblemwiththeradioitself.

Fadinganddrifting
FMrangeislimitedtoabout25miles(40km),exceptforsomehighpowerstations.
Ifavehicleismovingawayfromthedesiredstation’stransmitter,thesignalwilltendtofadeand/ordrift.ThisconditionismoreprevalentwithFMthanAM,andisoftenaccompaniedbydistortion.Fadinganddriftingcanbeminimizedtoacertaindegreebycarefulattentiontofinetuningorselectionofastrongersignal.
Staticanduttering
Whentheline-of-sightlinkbetweenatransmitterandvehicleisblockedbylargebuildingsormoun-tains,theradiosoundmaybeaccompaniedwithstaticorflutteringbecauseofthecharacteristicofFM.Inasimilareffect,aflutteringnoiseissome-timesheardwhendrivingalongatree-linedroad.
Thisstaticandflutteringcanbereducedbyadjust-ingthetonecontrolforgreaterbassresponseuntilthedisturbancehaspassed.
Multipath
BecauseofthereflectingcharacteristicsofFM,directandreflectedsignalsmayreachtheantennaatthesametime(multipath)andcanceleachotherout.Asavehiclemovesthroughtheseelectronicdeadspots,thelistenermayhearamomentaryflutterorlossofreception.
Stationswapping
WhentwoFMstationsareclosetoeachother,andanelectronicdeadspot,suchasstaticormultipatharea,interruptstheoriginalsignal,sometimesthestrongersecondsignalwillbeselectedautomaticallyuntiltheoriginalonereturns.Thisswappingcanalsooccurasyoudriveawayfromtheselectedstationandapproachanotherstationofastrongersignal.
