Driver’s responsibility
Never leave your vehicle with the key inside and never leave a child (or a
pet) unsupervised, even for a short while.
They may pose a risk to themselves or to others by starting the engine,
activating equipment such as the electric windows or by locking the door\
s.
Risk of serious injury.
4
The key must not be used for any
function other than those described
in the handbook (removing the cap
from a bottle, etc.).
Advice
Avoid leaving the remote control in
hot, cold or humid areas.

erly.

Sliding side door (fuel filler
cap side)
This door does not have a lock on the
outside. It is locked or unlocked from
outside the vehicle using the remote
control (at the same time as the other
doors) or from the inside by moving the
locking button (same for the other side
door).
Opening and closing operations are the
same as for the other sliding side door.
Special information on filling with
fuel:
Depending on the vehicle, when the
fuel filler cap is removed during refuel-
ling:
–
the doors lock then unlock immedi -
ately, except for the side door which
remains locked,
–
only the side door locks.
This is to prevent the door from strik-
ing against the filler nozzle during re-
fuelling.
From
inside, fully depress button
4, with
the door closed.
4
When the fuel tank has been filled, refit
the cap. The locking button is opera-
tional again.
For vehicles without remote control
locking, the door is always locked and
it is therefore possible to unlock it from
the inside.
Note: if the door was open before the
fuel filler cap was removed, it will not
lock.
To ensure that it does not collide with
the fuel pump filler nozzle while the fuel
tank is being filled, close the door, taking
precautions to ensure that no one is in-
jured. It will then lock automatically.

in the instrument panel. This
indicates that it is essential
to stop immediately (as soon as traf-
fic conditions allow). Ensure that the
vehicle is correctly immobilised and

In some cases, the appearance of
a warning light is accompanied by
a message.
The
ø warning light means you
should drive very carefully to an
approved Dealer as soon as possi-
ble. You risk damaging your vehicle
If you keep driving after this warning
light has come on.
The û warning light
requires you to stop im-
mediately, for your own
safety, as soon as traffic conditions
allow. Switch off the engine and do
not restart it. Contact an approved
Dealer.
A
LLow fuel level warning light
This goes out as soon as the engine
starts. If it lights up or remains lit, fill up
with fuel as soon as possible. There is
only approximately 30 miles (50 km)
worth of fuel left after the warning light
first comes on.
åAir bag warning light
This lights up when the igni-
tion is switched on and goes out after
a few seconds. If it does not come on
when the ignition is switched on or if it
flashes, there is a fault in the system.
Contact your approved Dealer as soon
as possible.

Electronic fault and water
present in diesel fuel warn-
ing light (on petrol and diesel
versions) and preheating warning
light (on diesel versions)
Electronic fault warning light (on
petrol and diesel versions). If it comes
on while driving, it indicates an electri-
cal or electronic fault or that water is
present in the fuel. Contact your ap-
proved Dealer as soon as possible.
Preheating and water present in
diesel fuel warning light (on diesel
version).
This light should come on when the ig-
nition key is in position M; it indicates
that the heater plugs are in operation.
It goes out after preheating is sufficient
and the engine can be started.

If it comes on while you are driving,
stop and let the engine idle for a minute
or two. The temperature should drop. If
not, stop the engine. Let the engine cool
down, then check the coolant level.
Contact an approved Dealer if neces-
sary.
êEngine immobiliser system
warning light
Refer to section 1 on the engine immo-
biliser.
çSeat belt reminder light
It remains lit when the engineis started,
when the seat belt is not fas-tened, then
when the vehicle reaches a speed
of approximately 6 mph (10 km/h), it
flashes and a bleep sounds for approxi-
mately 90 seconds.
vDoor status warning light
If it lights up when the ignition
is switched on, it indicates that a door is
not properly closed.

Fuel grade
Use a high grade fuel that complies
with the standards currently in force in
each country.
Petrol versions
It is essential to use unleaded petrol.
Depending on the vehicle, the octane
rating (RON) must comply with the in-
formation on the label located beside
the filler neck.
Refer to the information on “Engine
specifications” in Section 6.
Diesel versions
It is essential to use diesel fuel that
complies with the information given on
the label beside the filler neck.
Make sure that no water accidentally
enters the fuel tank during filling. The
shut-off system and its surrounding
area must be dust-free.
Capacity of the fuel tank: 50 litres
ap-
proximately.
Fuel tank
Do not mix even small vol-
umes of petrol with diesel
Do not use ethanol-based
fuel if your vehicle is not
compatible with this fuel.
Fuel filler cap: this is spe-
cific to the vehicle type.
If you have to replace it,
make sure it is identical to
the original cap. Contact your ap-
proved Dealer.
Never place the cap near a source
of heat or flame.
Do not wash the filler area with a
high-pressure washer.
FUEL TANK (1/2)
As a safety measure, the sliding side
door located on the fuel filler flap
side locks when the flap is opened.
For more information, refer to the in-
formation on “Central door locking/
unlocking” in Section 1.

Petrol and diesel versions
When the pump cuts out automatically
at the end of the filling procedure, a
maximum of two further filling attempts
may be made, as there must be suffi-
cient space in the fuel tank to allow for
expansion.
Diesel version
Use diesel engine fuel only. Make sure
that no water accidentally enters the
fuel tank during filling. The fuel filler
cap and neck must be clean and dust-
free. The diesel fuel must be of a high
grade.System for cutting off the
fuel supply in the event of a
severe impact
Refer to the information on the “Fuel
cut-off system in the event of a severe
impact” in Section 5.
Filling with fuel
Petrol versions
Use unleaded petrol only.
Using leaded petrol will damage the
antipollution system and may lead to a
loss of warranty.
To ensure the fuel tank is not filled
with leaded petrol, the fuel tank filler
neck contains a restrictor fitted with a
valve which only allows the nozzle
for unleaded petrol to be used (at the
pump).
–
Insert the nozzle as far as it will go
and so as to open the valve.
–
Keep the nozzle in this position
throughout the entire filling opera-
tion.
FUEL TANK (2/2)
No modifications what -
soever are permitted on
any part of the fuel supply
system (electronic unit,
wiring, fuel circuit, injector, protec-
tive covers, etc.) as this may be
dangerous (unless undertaken by
qualified Network personnel).
Persistent smell of
fuel
If you notice a persistent
smell of fuel you should:
–
stop the vehicle as soon as traf -
fic conditions allow and switch off
the ignition;
–
switch on the hazard warning
lights and ask your passengers
to leave the vehicle and to keep
away from traffic;
–
contact an approved Dealer.
