Fault finding - Function
General operation
The multimedia system is involved in the following functions:
–Radio reception (AM, FM).
–Playing CDs/MP3 CDs/navigation map.
–Guidance and navigation system with colour screen.
–Bluetooth hands-free phone.
The use of this multimedia system allows the customer:
–To select radio stations by using the preselections, the list or manual selection.
–To have an automatically-updated radio list.
–To listen to CDs or MP3 CDs.
–To control the radio using the steering column switch (satellite).
–To change various acoustic parameters (bass, treble, fader, etc.).
–To navigate on a colour screen (visual and audio guidance): for this function the system uses GPS, the
vehicle speed wire information and an internal gyroscope.
–To receive traffic information via RDS-TMC and to display it on the navigation map. Possibility of re-
routing according to traffic information.
–To display the time and temperature on the screen.
–To use the hands-free phone function (sound relayed to the radio speakers) with a Bluetooth phone (HFP
profile).
–To be protected by an immobiliser code.

signal.

ALP 18 Telephone cannot be used with the Bluetooth function
NOTESOnly consult this customer complaint after a complete check with the diagnostic
tool.
Ensure there are no present or stored faults.
Check that Bluetooth mode is activated in the navigation and communication system.
Press the SET button and select the Telephone, Bluetooth option and Bluetooth connection menus.
Has the telephone been researched by Renault?
YES
Check that the telephone software on the telephone
is compatible with the vehicle's navigation and
communication system.
Consult the list of compatible phones on the
"RENAULT.net intranet" site.
Is the telephone software compatible with the
vehicle's navigation and communication
system?
YES
Activate the telephone's Bluetooth mode.
NOSuggest that the customer buy a telephone
approved by Renault.

Check that the telephone does not require
confirmation before being connected to the
Bluetooth system.
If it does, respond that you wish to connect then
disable this function on the phone.

Test the Bluetooth terminal on the
navigation computer.
Procedure for matching the communication
system and the telephone:
On the navigation and communication system:
–Press the SET button.
–Access the Telephone menu.
–Select the Bluetooth option line.
–Select the Save a Bluetooth telephone line.
On the telephone:
–Enter the menu to find a Bluetooth accessory.
–In the list of accessories found, select My CAR.
–Enter the PIN code given on the vehicle's
navigation display.

Check that the telephone network availability is sufficient to make a call.
Make a call to a fixed line.
Is the fault still present?
YES
With the engine stopped, does the voice
recognition work for the words "phonebook"
and "dial"?
YES
NOThe fault is linked to the number the customer
is calling or to a localised lack of network
availability.
NOCheck the condition and connection of the
microphone connector.
Repair if necessary.
Check that the microphone part number is
correct. If not, replace the microphone.

navigation computer and the radio. Carry out the
necessary repairs.
Match up another telephone and make a call.
Is the fault still present?
