NOTESConditions for applying fault finding procedures to stored faults:
The fault appears after:
–in the event of short circuit+ or short circuit-:
Lever in "Drive" position, gear engaged = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 OR Gear engaged = 1 and
engine braking.
–in the event of open circuit:
Lever in "Drive" position, Gear engaged = 1, 2, 4, 6,
OR lever in "Manual" position, gear engaged = 1 and engine braking.
OR
Running command AC026 "Clutch 2 solenoid valve".
System effects:
–in the event of short circuit+:
If the fault occurs in 3rd or 5th in D mode, an erratic shift to Neutral is detected
(see DF256 Erratic gear jumps).
–in the event of open circuit or short circuit-:
–If the fault occurs in 1st in "Drive" position, shifting from 1st gear to 3rd gear.
–If the fault occurs in 1st in "Manual" mode or in 2nd, 4th or 6th in "Drive" mode, the
automatic transmission is locked.
Customer complaint:
–in the event of short circuit+:
Fault warning light comes on.
–in the event of open circuit:
–If the fault occurs in 1st in "Drive" position, shifting from 1st gear to 3rd gear.
–If the fault occurs in 1st in "Manual" mode or in 2nd, 4th or 6th in "Drive" mode, the
automatic transmission is locked.
Fault warning light comes on.
–in the event of short circuit-:
If the fault occurs while driving, the transmission engages fixed 5th gear.

System effects:
–in the event of short circuit+:
–If the fault occurs in 1st, 2nd or 3rd in "Drive" position, no shifting to 4th, 5th or 6th in
"Drive" position.
–If the fault occurs in 4th, 5th or 6th in "Drive" position, the transmission is in neutral
(refer to fault "neutral detection").
–in the event of open circuit or short circuit-:
–If the fault occurs in 1st in "Manual" mode or in 2nd or 3rd in "Drive" mode, the
automatic transmission is locked.
–If the fault occurs in 1st in "Drive" position, shifting from 1st gear to 4th gear.
Customer complaint:
–in the event of short circuit+:
–If the fault occurs in 1st, 2nd or 3rd in "Drive" position, no shifting to 4th, 5th or 6th in
"Drive" position.
–If the fault occurs in 4th, 5th or 6th in "Drive" position, the transmission is in neutral

Fault warning light comes on.
–in the event of open circuit:

1.DEF: No multiplex frameworks or invalid values (signal producing computer fault
or multiplex line connection fault).
NOTESConditions for applying fault finding procedures to stored faults:
The fault appears after:
–No signals transmitted over the multiplex line network.
System effects:
Engine does not start.
No lever position display on the instrument panel.
Note: the effects of the fault disappear as soon as signals start transmitting again over
the multiplex network.
Customer complaint:
Engine does not start.
No lever position display on the instrument panel.
Jolting during gear changes.
Note: the effects of the fault disappear as soon as signals start transmitting again over
the multiplex network.
Use the Wiring Diagrams Technical Note, SCENIC II ph2.
Run a multiplex network test (see 88B, Multiplex).
Check the continuity and insulation against earth of the following connections:
●Connection code 3MS.
●Connection code 3MT.
between components 119 and 129.
If the connection is faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
If the fault is still present, contact the Techline.
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any other faults. Clear the fault memory.

NOTESConditions for applying fault finding procedures to stored faults:
The fault appears after:
–in the event of short circuit+ or short circuit-:
Lever in "Drive" position, gear engaged = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 OR Gear engaged = 1 and
engine braking.
–in the event of open circuit:
Lever in position D, gear engaged = 1, 2, 6 and setpoint current > 937 mA
OR
Running command AC032 Brake 2 solenoid valve.
System effects:
–in the event of short circuit+:
If the fault occurs in 1st in "Drive", system shifts to 2nd in "Drive".
If the fault occurs in 1st in "Drive" with engine braking, 3rd, 4th, 5th in "Drive", automatic
transmission locked. Automatic transmission locking detection only possible in 4th in
"Drive" mode only (see Interpretation of faults, fault DF298 Gear changes).
–in the event of open circuit or short circuit-:
–If the fault appears in 2nd, downshifting to 1st without engine braking.
–If the fault occurs in 6th gear in "Drive" mode, an erratic shift to neutral is detected
(see DF256 Erratic gear jumps).
Customer complaint:
–in the event of short circuit+:
If the fault occurs in 1st in "Drive" mode, system shifts to 2nd in "Drive" mode.
If the fault occurs in 1st in "Drive" mode with engine braking, 3rd in "Drive" mode, 4th
in "Drive" mode or 5th in "Drive" mode, automatic transmission locked.
Jolting during gear changes.
Fault warning light comes on.
–in the event of open circuit:
–If the fault appears in 2nd, downshifting to 1st without engine braking.

NOTESConditions for applying fault finding procedures to stored faults:
The fault appears after:
Lever in "Drive" position, Gear engaged = 1, 2, 3, 4,
and accelerator pedal > 0 %, vehicle speed > 6 mph (10 km/h),
and for each gear, the status of clutch 1 pressure switch does not correspond to the
solenoid control status.
After engaging 4th gear, switch off the ignition and remove card from its drive. Reinsert
the card in the card reader, start up the vehicle then repeat the previous operation.
Check (engine running) status ET261 "Clutch 1" (consult interpretation of status
ET261 "Clutch 1" (see Interpretation of statuses)).
Use the Wiring Diagrams Technical Note, SCENIC II ph2.
Look for any damage to the wiring and check the condition and connection of the connectors for components 119
and 754.
If the circuit is faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair, Wiring:
Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
Check the continuity and insulation of the following connections on the external wiring harness:
●Connection code 5CZ.
●Connection code 5LW.
Between components 119 and 754.
If the connection or connections are faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical
wiring repair, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
Are the continuity and insulation correct?
If YES, move on to step 1.
If NO, replace the external wiring harness.
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any other faults. Clear the fault memory.
Switch off the ignition, wait 1 minute and carry out a road test followed by another
check with the diagnostic tool.

lock-up remains inactive.

If the fault occurs while driving, the transmission engages fixed 5th gear.

NOTESOrder of priority in the event of more than one fault:
If there is a combination of the following faults:
–DF300 "Brake 2 solenoid valve circuit"
–DF306 "Lock-up/brake 1 solenoid valve circuit",
–DF307 "Engine brake",
deal first with faults DF300 "Brake 2 solenoid valve circuit" and DF306 "Lock-up/
brake 1 solenoid valve circuit".
Conditions for applying fault finding procedures to stored faults:
The fault appears after:
Lever in "Drive" position.
The solenoid valve control status corresponds to a fault
OR the pressure switch status corresponds to a fault.
System effects:
Significant engine braking.
lock-up inhibited (i.e. open) to avoid stalling.
Customer complaint:
Major engine braking when the fault appears, then a complete absence of engine
braking.
Fault warning light comes on.
Look for any damage to the wiring harness, and check the condition and connection of the automatic
transmission computer and the hydraulic distributor.
If the connection is faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
Check for + after ignition feed on connection 5LW of component 754.
Is the + after ignition feed still present?
If YES, move on to step 1.

GEAR LEVER POSITION
Note:
Status ET012 "Gear lever position" applies to the following sub-functions:
–"Gear changes".
–"Driver parameters".
STATUS
DEFINITIONP: shows that the gear lever is in position P.
R: shows that the gear lever is in position R.
N: shows that the gear lever is in position N.
D: shows that the gear lever is in position D.
M: shows that the gear lever is in position M.
NOTESSpecial notes:
Only perform these tests if the statuses do not correspond with the system
programming functions.
Conformity check with the engine stopped, ignition on or engine running.
P
R
Check that lever position P matches status ET012 "Gear lever position"; in the event
of a fault, consult the interpretation of fault DF067 "Lever switch circuit".
Check the condition of the cable, the setting (see MR 370 Mechanical, 37A, Automatic
gear controls, Adjustment) and the mountings connecting the lever to the
transmission.
Replace if necessary.
Check that lever position "R" matches status ET012 "Gear lever position"; in the event
of a fault, consult the interpretation of fault DF067 "Lever position switch circuit".
Check the condition of the cable, the setting (see MR 370 Mechanical, 37A, Automatic
gear controls, Adjustment) and the mountings connecting the lever to the
transmission.
AFTER REPAIRCarry out a road test, then check with the diagnostic tool.

GEAR ENGAGED
Note:
Status ET013 "Gear engaged" is applicable to the following sub-functions:
–"Gear changes".
–"Driver parameters".
STATUS
DEFINITION1: shows that the gear engaged is 1st gear.
2: shows that the gear engaged is 2nd gear.
3: shows that the gear engaged is 3rd gear.
4: shows that the gear engaged is 4th gear.
5: shows that the gear engaged is 5th gear.
6: shows that the gear engaged is 6th gear.
R: shows that the gear engaged is Reverse gear.
INVALID: shows that the transmission ratio is incorrect.
DISENGAGE: shows that the clutch disengagement function while vehicle stationary is
active.
P/N: shows that the transmission is either in "Park" or "Neutral" mode.
NOTESSpecial notes:
This status indicates clutch disengagement when stopped ("DISENGAGEMENT"), the
various gears engaged (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, "R"), the parking brake and neutral positions
("P" and "N") when a fault appears on the lever.
