(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(b) Measure the voltage between the applicable terminals of
the E11and E12 ECM connectors.

4 CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR−ECM,
HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR−EFI RELAY)
(a) Check the harness and connector between the ECM and
heated oxygen sensor connectors.
(1) Disconnect the H7, H8, H9 or H10 heated oxygen
sensor connector.
(2) Disconnect the E12 ECM connector.
(3) Check the resistance between the wire harness
side connectors.

(5) Reconnect the ECM connector.
(b) Check the harness and connector between the heated
oxygen sensor and EFI relay.
(1) Inspect the EFI No.2 fuse.
SRemove the EFI No.2 fuse from the engine
room R/B No. 4.
SCheck for continuity in the EFI No.2 fuse.
Standard: Continuity
SReinstall the EFI No. 2 fuse.
(2) Disconnect the H7, H8, H9 or H10 heated oxygen
sensor connector.
(3) Remove the EFI relay from the engine room R/B No.
4.
(4) Check the resistance between the wire harness
side connectors.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the hand −held tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when
a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was
running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air −fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data
from the time the malfunction occurred.

DTC P0010 CAMSHAFT POSITION ”A” ACTUATOR
CIRCUIT (BANK1)
HINT:
This is the troubleshooting procedure of the oil control valve (OCV).
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system includes the ECM, the Oil Control Valve (OCV) and the VVT control-
ler. The ECM sends a target ”duty−cycle” control signal to the OCV. This control signal, applied to the OCV,
regulates the oil pressure supplied to the VVT controller. Camshaft timing control is performed based on en-
gine operation conditions such as intake air volume, throttle position and engine coolant temperature.
The ECM controls the OCV based on the signals output from several sensors. The VVT controller regulates
the intake camshaft angle using oil pressure through the OCV. As result, the relative position between the
camshaft and the crankshaft is optimized, and the engine torque improves, fuel economy improves, and ex-
haust emissions decrease. The ECM detects the actual valve timing using signals from the camshaft position
sensor and the crankshaft position sensor. The ECM performs feedback control and verifies target valve
timing.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the hand−held tester . Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when
a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was

1 PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND −HELD TESTER(OPERATE OCV)
(a) Connect the hand −held tester to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine and warm it up.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the hand −held tester ON.
(d) Select the item: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / ACTIVE TEST / VVT CTRL B1.
(e) Using the hand −held tester, operate the OCV and check the engine speed.
