Use mud shields on your wheels.If you
drive on salted or gravel roads, mud
shields help protect your vehicle. Full−size
shields, which come as near to the ground
as possible, are the best. We recommend
that the fittings and the area where the
shields are installed be treated to resist
corrosion. Your authorized Toyota dealer
or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional will be happy to as-
sist in supplying and installing the shields
if they are recommended for your area.
Keep your vehicle in a well ventilated
garage or a roofed place. Do not park
your vehicle in a damp, poorly venti-
lated garage.If you wash your vehicle in
the garage, or if you drive it covered with
water or snow, your garage may be so
damp as to cause corrosion. Even if your
garage is heated, a wet vehicle can cor-
rode if the ventilation is poor.Washing your Toyota
Keep your vehicle clean by regular
washing.
NOTICE
The following cases may cause weak-
ness to the paint or corrosion to the
body and components. (aluminum
wheels etc.) Wash your vehicle as
soon as possible.
zAfter driving near the sea coast
zAfter driving on salted roads
zIf you see coal tar or tree sap on
the paint surface
zIf you see dead insects, insect
droppings or bird droppings on the
paint
zAfter driving in an area contami-
nated with soot, oily smoke, mine
dust, iron powder or chemical sub-
stances
zIf the vehicle becomes heavily
soiled in dust or mud
zIf liquids such as benzene and gas-
oline are spilled on the paint sur-
face
If the paint is chipped or scratched,
have it repaired immediately.
To prevent the wheels from corroding,
remove any dirt and store in a place
with low humidity when storing the
wheels.

ENGINE OIL SELECTION
Your Toyota vehicle is filled with “Toyota
Genuine Motor Oil” at the factory. Toyota
recommends the use of approved “Toyota
Genuine Motor Oil”. Another motor oil of
matching quality can also be used.
Oil grade:
0W−20, 5W−20, 5W−30 and10W−30:
API grade SL “Energy−Conserving”,
SM “Energy−Conserving” or ILSAC
multigrade engine oil
15W−40 and 20W−50:
API grade SL or SM multigrade engine
oil
Recommended viscosity (SAE):
SOIL35
Temperature range anticipated before
next oil change.
Preferred
SAE 0W−20 is filled into your Toyota
vehicle at manufacturing, and the best
choice for good fuel economy and good
starting in cold weather.
If SAE 0W−20 oil is not available, SAE
5W−30 oil may be used. However, it
should be replaced with SAE 0W−20 at
the next oil change.
If you use SAE10W−30 or a higher
viscosity engine oil in extremely low
temperatures, the engine may become
difficult to start, so SAE 5W−30 or low-
er viscosity engine oil is recommended.
The 0W portion of the oil viscosity rating
indicates the characteristic of the oil which
allows cold startability. Oils with a lower
value before the W allow for easier
starting of the engine in cold weather.
The20in0W−20 indicates the oil
viscosity when the oil is at its operating
temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity
may be better suited if the vehicle is
operated at high speeds, or under extreme
load conditions.
