REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM CAMERA
FEATURES & OPERATIONS
The camera for the rear view monitor system is located near the license \
plate. To
adjust the image on the rear view monitor screen, press the setup button\

“
” on the left side of screen and select “Display” on the setup \
screen. Then
select “Camera” to adjust the screen brightness and contrast.
For more information, refer to Toyota.com to download the Display Audio \
System
Owner’s Manual or Display Audio with Navigation Owner’s Manual.
The rear view monitor system camera is located as shown in the illustrat\
ion.
The camera uses a special lens. The distance of the image that appears o\
n the
screen differs from the actual distance.
When the camera is used under fluorescent lights, sodium lights or mercu\
ry lights
etc., the lights and the illuminated areas may appear to flicker.
In the following cases, it may become difficult to see the images on the\
screen,
even when the system is functioning:
• In the dark (for example, at night)
• When the temperature near the lens is high or low
• When water droplets are adhering to the camera, or when humidity is\
high (for
example, when it rains)
• When foreign matter (for example, snow or mud) is adhering to the\
camera
• When the camera has scratches or dirt on it
• When the sun or the beam of headlights is shining directly into the\
camera lens
*Smear effect
A phenomenon that occurs when a bright light (for example, sunlight ref\
lected off the
vehicle body) is picked up by the camera; when transmitted by the camer\
a, the light
source appears to have a vertical streak above and below it.
INFORMATION
If a bright light (for example, sunlight
reflected off the vehicle body) is
picked up by the camera, a Smear
effect* may occur.

Pre-Collision System (PCS)PCS is designed to provide alert, mitigation, and/or avoidance
support in certain conditions, when the system detects a potential
collision with a preceding vehicle is likely to occur.
Lane Departure Alert (LDA)LDA is designed to provide notification when the system detects
an unintended lane departure.
Auto High Beams (AHB)
AHB is designed to detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles
and the tail lights of preceding vehicles and switch between high
beams and low beams as appropriate.

Sensors
TOYOTA SAFETY SENSE™
Toyota Safety Sense™ C (TSS-C) is a set of active safety technologies designed to
help mitigate or prevent collisions across a wide range of traffic situa\
tions, in certain
conditions. TSS-C is designed to help support the driver’s awareness,\
decision making
and vehicle operation contributing to a safe driving experience.
Refer to the Owner’s Manual for operation, setting adjustments, limit\
ations and
more details to understand these functions and complete safety precautio\
ns. For
more information, please go to http://www.toyota.com/safety-sense
TSS-C combines an in-vehicle camera and laser mounted in front of the in\

Automatic High Beams (AHB)
ACTIVATING THE AHB SYSTEM
CONDITIONS WHERE AHB WILL TURN ON/OFF AUTOMATICALLY
With the engine switch in IGNITION ON mode and headlight switch turned t\
o “AUTO”
position, push lever away from you.
The
will come on when the headlights are turned on automatically to indicat\
e
that the system is active.
Note: Pull the lever back toward you to turn the AHB system off.
The
will turn off and the high beam indicator turns on.
When all of these conditions are met, high beams will be automatically t\
urned on
(after approximately 1 second):
• Vehicle speed is above approximately 21 mph (33 km/h).
• The area ahead of the vehicle is dark.
• There are no oncoming or preceding vehicles with headlights or tail lights turned
on.
• There are few streetlights on the road ahead.
If any of these conditions occur, high beams will be automatically turne\
d off:
• Vehicle speed drops below approximately 17 mph (27 km/h).
• The area ahead of the vehicle is not dark.
• Oncoming or preceding vehicles have headlights or tail lights turned on.
• There are many streetlights on the road ahead.
AHB is a safety system designed to help drivers see more of what’s ah\
ead at nighttime
without dazzling other drivers. When enabled, AHB uses an in-vehicle cam\
era to
help detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and tail lights of prece\
ding vehicles,
then automatically switches between high and low beams as appropriate to\
provide
the most light possible and enhance forward visibility. By using high be\
ams more
frequently, the system may allow earlier detection of pedestrians and ob\
stacles.
Refer to the Toyota Owner’s Manual for additional information on AHB \
operation,
settings adjustments, limitations, and precautions before attempting to \
use it.
