Interior features
OThe outside temperature is extremely
low
OWhen the hybrid system is cool (for
example, after being left for a long time in low temperatures)
QWindshield defogger
When defogging the windshield using
the Remote Air Conditioning System, defogging may be insufficient due to the power being restricted more than during
normal air conditioning operation. Also, the outside of the windshield may fog up due to the outside temperature, humidity
or air conditioning set temperature.
QUsing the heater via the Remote Air Conditioning System
OWhen the outside temperature is low, heating may feel insufficient due to restricted operation of the air condi-
tioning.
OWhen the outside heat exchanger
becomes frosted over, heating perfor- mance may decline due to automati-cally switching to the frost removal
operation. ( P.406)
QSecurity feature
Any unlocked doors will be automatically locked when the system is operating.
The emergency flashers flash to indicate that the doors have been locked or the system has been turned off.
QConditions affecting operation

QWhile the Remote Air Conditioning System is operating
ODepending on the operating condition of the Remote Air Conditioning Sys-tem, the air conditioning compressor
or cooling fan may spin and an operat- ing noise may be heard.However, this does not indicate a mal-
function.

QPrecautions for the Remote Air Conditioning System
ODo not use the system if people are in the vehicle. Even when the system is in use, the
internal temperature may still reach a high or low level due to features such as the automatic shut-off.
Children and pets left inside the vehicle may suffer heatstroke dehy-dration or hypothermia, or could
result in death or serious injury.
ODepending on the surrounding envi-
ronment, signals from the wireless switch may transmit further than expected. Pay appropriate attention
to the vehicle’s surroundings and use the switch only when neces-sary.
ODo not operate “A/C” on the wire-less remote control if the hood is
open. The air conditioning may operate unintentionally and objects may be drawn into the electrical
cooling fan.
NOTICE
QTo prevent the hybrid battery (traction battery) from being dis-charged
Use “A/C” on the wireless remote control only when necessary.

when using a seat heater:
ODo not cover the seat with a blanket or cushion when using the seat
heater.
ODo not use seat heater more than
necessary.
NOTICE
QTo prevent damage to the seat heaters and seat ventilators
Do not put heavy objects that have an uneven surface on the seat and do not stick sharp objects (needles,
nails, etc.) into the seat.
QTo prevent 12-volt battery dis-
charge
Do not use the functions when the hybrid system is off.

WARNING
QWater in the vehicle
ODo not splash or spill liquid in the
vehicle, such as on the floor, on the rear seats, in the DC/DC Converter air intake vent, junction box or in
the luggage compartment. ( P.98) Doing so may cause the DC/DC Converter, electrical components,
etc. to malfunction or catch fire.
ODo not get any of the SRS compo-
nents or wiring in the vehicle interior wet. ( P.40) An electrical malfunction may
cause the airbags to deploy or not function properly, resulting in death or serious injury.
OVehicles with wireless charger:Do not let the wireless charger
( P.433) get wet. Failure to do so may cause the charger to become hot and cause burns or could cause
electric shock resulting in death or serious injury.
QCleaning the interior (especially instrument panel)
Do not use a polish wax or polish
cleaner. The instrument panel may reflect off the windshield, obstructing the driver’s view and leading to an
accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
QCleaning detergents
ODo not use the following types of
detergent, as they may discolor the vehicle interior or cause streaks or damage to painted surfaces:
• Non-seat portions: Organic sub- stances such as benzene or gaso-line, alkaline or acidic solutions,
dye, and bleach
• Seats: Alkaline or acidic solutions, such as thinner, benzene, and alco-
hol
ODo not use a polish wax or polish cleaner. The instrument panel’s or other interior part’s painted surface
may be damaged.
QPreventing damage to leather
surfaces
Observe the following precautions to avoid damage to and deterioration of
leather surfaces:
ORemove any dust or dirt from leather surfaces immediately.
ODo not expose the vehicle to direct sunlight for extended periods of
time. Park the vehicle in the shade, especially during summer.
ODo not place items made of vinyl, plastic, or containing wax on the upholstery, as they may stick to the
leather surface if the vehicle interior heats up significantly.
QWater on the floor
Do not wash the vehicle floor with water.
Vehicle systems such as the audio system may be damaged if water comes into contact with electrical
components such as the audio sys- tem above or under the floor of the vehicle. Water may also cause the
body to rust.
QWhen cleaning the inside of the
windshield (vehicles with Toyota Safety Sense)
Do not allow glass cleaner to contact
the lens. Also, do not touch the lens. ( P.300)
QCleaning the inside of the rear window
ODo not use a glass cleaner to clean
the rear window, as this may cause damage to the rear window defog-ger heater wires. Use a cloth damp-
ened with lukewarm water to gently wipe the window clean. Wipe the window in strokes running parallel
to the heater wires.

Maintenance and care
 Remove dirt and dust using a
vacuum cleaner.
 Wipe off any excess dirt and dust
with a soft cloth dampened with
diluted detergent.
Use a diluted water solution of approxi-
mately 5% neutral wool detergent.
 Wring out any excess water from
the cloth and thoroughly wipe off
all remaining traces of detergent.
 Wipe the surface with a dry, soft
cloth to remove any remaining
moisture. Allow the leather to dry
in a shaded and ventilated area.
QCaring for leather areas
Toyota recommends cleaning the inte-
rior of the vehicle at least twice a year to maintain the quality of the vehicle’s inte-rior.
 Remove dirt and dust using a
vacuum cleaner.
 Wipe it off with a soft cloth damp-
ened with neutral detergent
diluted to approximately 1%.
 Wring out any excess water from
the cloth and thoroughly wipe off
remaining traces of detergent
and water.

When trouble arises
QIf “Engine Oil Level Low Add or
Replace” is displayed
The engine oil level may be low. Check the level of the engine oil, and add
engine oil if necessary. This message may be displayed if the vehicle is stopped on a slope. Move the vehicle to
a level surface and check if the mes- sage disappears.
QIf a message that indicates the mal-function of front camera is dis-
played (if equipped)
The following systems may be sus- pended until the problem shown in the
message is resolved. ( P.309, 508)
