QAdjusting the display (digital mirror mode)
OIf the displayed image is adjusted, it may appear distorted. This is not a
malfunction.
OIf the brightness of the Digital Rear-
view Mirror is set too high, it may cause eye strain. Adjust the Digital Rear-view Mirror to an appropriate
brightness. If your eyes become tired, change to optical mirror mode.
OThe brightness of the Digital Rear-view Mirror will change automatically according to the brightness of the
area in front of your vehicle.
QTo prevent the light sensors from
malfunctioning
To prevent the light sensors from mal- functioning, do not touch or cover them.
WARNING
Observe the following precautions.Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
QWhile driving
ODo not adjust the position of the
Digital Rear-view Mirror or adjust the display settings while driving.Stop the vehicle and operate the
Digital Rear-view Mirror control switches. Failure to do so may cause a steer-
ing wheel operation error, resulting in an unexpected accident.
OAlways pay attention to the vehi-cle’s surroundings.
The size of the vehicles and other
objects may look different when in digital mirror mode and optical mirror mode.
When backing up, make sure to directly check the safety of the area around your vehicle, especially
behind the vehicle. Additionally, if a vehicle approaches from the rear in the dark, such as at
night, the surrounding area may appear dim.

QEnabling/disabling the pre-col-
lision system
The pre-collision system can be
enabled/disabled on the screen
( P.184) of the multi-information
display.
The system is automatically enabled
each time the power switch is turned to
ON.
If the system is disabled, the PCS
warning light will turn on and a
message will be displayed on the
multi-information display.
QChanging the pre-collision
warning timing
The pre-collision warning timing
can be changed on the screen
( P.184) of the multi-information
display.
The warning timing setting is retained
when the power switch is turned to
OFF. However, if the pre-collision sys-
tem is disabled and re-enabled, the
operation timing will return to the
default setting (middle).

OWhen inspecting the vehicle using a drum tester such as a chassis
dynamometer or speedometer tes- ter, or when using an on vehicle wheel balancer

ground clearance
• If a vehicle ahead is carrying a load
which protrudes past its rear bumper
• If a vehicle ahead is irregularly
shaped, such as a tractor or side car
• If a vehicle ahead is a child sized bicy-
cle, a bicycle that is carrying a large
load, a bicycle ridden by more than
one person, or a uniquely shaped
bicycle (bicycle with a child seat, tan-
dem bicycle, etc.)
• If a pedestrian/or the riding height of a
bicyclist ahead is shorter than approx-
imately 1 m (3.2 ft.) or taller than
approximately 2 m (6.5 ft.)
• If a pedestrian/bicyclist is wearing
oversized clothing (a rain coat, long
skirt, etc.), making their silhouette
obscure
• If a pedestrian is bending forward or
squatting or bicyclist is bending for-
ward
• If a pedestrian/bicyclist is moving fast
• If a pedestrian is pushing a stroller,
wheelchair, bicycle or other vehicle
• When driving in inclement weather
such as heavy rain, fog, snow or a
sandstorm
• When driving through steam or smoke
• When the surrounding area is dim,
such as at dawn or dusk, or while at
night or in a tunnel, making a detect-
able object appear to be nearly the same color as its surroundings
• When driving in a place where the sur-
rounding brightness changes sud-
denly, such as at the entrance or exit

• After the hybrid system has started
the vehicle has not been driven for a
certain amount of time
• While making a left/right turn and for a
few seconds after making a left/right

OIn some situations such as the follow-
ing, sufficient braking force may not
be obtained, preventing the system
from performing properly:
• If the braking functions cannot operate
to their full extent, such as when the
brake parts are extremely cold,
extremely hot, or wet
• If the vehicle is not properly main-
tained (brakes or tires are excessively
worn, improper tire inflation pressure,
etc.)
• When the vehicle is being driven on a
gravel road or other slippery surface
QIf VSC is disabled
OIf VSC is disabled (P.393), the pre-
collision brake assist and pre-collision
braking functions are also disabled.

When the system determines that
the vehicle might depart from its
lane or course*, a warning is dis-
played on the multi-information dis-
play, and either a warning buzzer
will sound or the steering wheel will
vibrate to alert the driver.

OIf the edge of the road is not clear or straight.

being dirty or it being misaligned.
OThe vehicle is struck by a cross-
wind.
OThe vehicle is affected by wind from
a vehicle driven in a nearby lane.
OThe vehicle has just changed lanes
or crossed an intersection.
OTires which differ by structure, man-
ufacturer, brand or tread pattern are used.
OWhen tires of a size other than specified are installed.
OSnow tires, etc. are equipped.
OThe vehicle is being driven at
extremely high speeds.

In the following situations, the RSA
system will notify the driver.
When the vehicle speed exceeds
the speed notification threshold
of the speed limit sign displayed,
the sign display will be empha-
sized and a buzzer will sound.
When the RSA system recog-
nizes a no-entry sign and detects
that the vehicle has entered a
no-entry area based on the map
information of the navigation sys-
tem, the no-entry sign flashes
and a buzzer will sound. (For
vehicles with navigation system)
If it is detected that your vehicle
is overtaking when a no overtak-
ing sign is displayed on the multi-
information display, the dis-
played sign will flash and a steer-
ing wheel will vibrate.
Depending on the situation, traffic
environment (traffic direction,
speed unit) may be detected incor-
rectly and a notification function
may not operate properly.

QAutomatic turn-off of RSA sign dis-
play
One or more signs automatically turn off
in the following situations.
ONo sign has been recognized for a
certain distance.
OThe road changes due to a left or right
turn, etc.
QConditions in which the function
may not operate or detect correctly
In the following situations, RSA does not
operate normally and may not recognize
signs, display the incorrect sign, etc.
However, this does not indicate a mal-
function.
OThe front camera is misaligned due to
a strong impact being applied to the
sensor, etc.
ODirt, snow, stickers, etc. are on the
windshield near the front camera.
OIn inclement weather such as heavy
rain, fog, snow or sand storms.
OLight from an oncoming vehicle, the
sun, etc. enters the front camera.
OThe sign is dirty, faded, tilted or bent.
OThe contrast of electronic sign is low.
OAll or part of the sign is hidden by the
leaves of a tree, a pole, etc.
OThe sign is only visible to the front
camera for a short amount of time.
OThe driving scene (turning, lane
change, etc.) is judged incorrectly.
OIf a sign not appropriate for the cur-
rently traveled lane, but the sign exists
directly after a freeway branches, or in
an adjacent lane just before merging.
OStickers are attached to the rear of the
preceding vehicle.
OA sign resembling a system compati-
ble sign is recognized.
OSide road speed signs may be
detected and displayed (if positioned
in sight of the front camera) while the
vehicle is traveling on the main road.

OWhen driving over bumps in the road
OWhen driving over roads with pot-holes or uneven surfaces
QTRC/VSC may not operate effec-tively when
Directional control and power may not be achievable while driving on slip-pery road surfaces, even if the
TRC/VSC system is operating. Drive the vehicle carefully in condi-tions where stability and power may
be lost.
QActive Cornering Assist does not
operate effectively when
ODo not overly rely on Active Corner- ing Assist. Active Cornering Assist
may not operate effectively when accelerating down slopes or driving on slippery road surfaces.
OWhen Active Cornering Assist fre-quently operates, Active Cornering
Assist may temporarily stop operat- ing to ensure proper operation of the brakes, TRC and VSC.
QHill-start assist control does not operate effectively when
ODo not overly rely on hill-start assist control. Hill-start assist control may not operate effectively on steep
inclines and roads covered with ice.
OUnlike the parking brake, hill-start
assist control is not intended to hold the vehicle stationary for an extended period of time. Do not
attempt to use hill-start assist con- trol to hold the vehicle on an incline, as doing so may lead to an acci-
dent.
QWhen the TRC/ABS/VSC/Trailer Sway Control is activated
The slip indicator light flashes. Always
drive carefully. Reckless driving may cause an accident. Exercise particular care when the indicator light flashes.
QWhen the TRC/VSC/Trailer Sway Control systems are turned off
Be especially careful and drive at a speed appropriate to the road condi-tions. As these are the systems to
help ensure vehicle stability and driv- ing force, do not turn the TRC/VSC/Trailer Sway Control sys-
tems off unless necessary.
Trailer Sway Control is part of the VSC system and will not operate if
VSC is turned off or experiences a malfunction.
QReplacing tires
Make sure that all tires are of the specified size, brand, tread pattern
and total load capacity. In addition, make sure that the tires are inflated to the recommended tire inflation pres-
sure level. The ABS, TRC, VSC and Trailer Sway Control systems will not func-
tion correctly if different tires are installed on the vehicle.Contact any authorized Toyota
retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer for further information when replacing tires or
wheels.
QHandling of tires and the suspen-
sion
Using tires with any kind of problem or modifying the suspension will affect
the driving assist systems, and may cause a system to malfunction.

OMaintain the recommended level of air pressure.
ODo not drive at speeds in excess of the speed limit or the speed limit specified for the snow tires being
used.
OUse snow tires on all, not just some
wheels.
QDriving with tire chains (except
235/55R19 tires)
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of accidents.
Failure to do so may result in the vehi- cle being unable to be driven safely, and may cause death or serious
injury.
ODo not drive in excess of the speed
limit specified for the tire chains being used, or 50 km/h (30 mph), whichever is lower.
OAvoid driving on bumpy road sur-faces or over potholes.
OAvoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shift-
ing operations that cause sudden engine braking.
OSlow down sufficiently before enter-ing a curve to ensure that vehicle control is maintained.
ODo not use LTA (Lane Tracing Assist) system (if equipped).
NOTICE
QRepairing or replacing snow tires
Request repairs or replacement of snow tires from any authorized
Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer or legitimate tire retailers.
This is because the removal and attachment of snow tires affects the operation of the tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters.

QWhen to replace your vehicle’s tires
Tires should be replaced if:
OThe treadwear indicators are showing on a tire.
OYou have tire damage such as cuts, splits, cracks deep enough to expose
the fabric, and bulges indicating inter- nal damage.
OA tire goes flat repeatedly or cannot be properly repaired due to the size or location of a cut or other damage.
If you are not sure, consult with any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
QTire life
Any tire over 6 years old must be checked by a qualified technician even if
it has seldom or never been used or damage is not obvious.
QIf the tread on snow tires wears down below 4 mm (0.16 in.)
The effectiveness of the tires as snow tires is lost.
Rotate the tires in the order shown.
To equalize tire wear and help extend
tire life, Toyota recommends that tire
rotation is carried out approximately

QWhen inspecting or replacing tires
Observe the following precautions to
prevent accidents. Failure to do so may cause damage to parts of the drive train as well as
dangerous handling characteristics, which may lead to an accident result-ing in death or serious injury.
ODo not mix tires of different makes, models or tread patterns.Also, do not mix tires of remarkably
different treadwear.
ODo not use tire sizes other than those recommended by Toyota.
ODo not mix differently constructed tires (radial, bias-belted or bias-ply tires).
ODo not mix summer, all season and snow tires.
ODo not use tires that have been used on another vehicle.
Do not use tires if you do not know how they were used previously.
OVehicles with compact spare tire: Do not tow if your vehicle has a compact spare tire installed.
OVehicles with emergency tire punc-ture repair kit: Do not tow anything
if a tire that has been repaired using the emergency tire puncture repair kit is installed. The load on the tire
may cause unexpected damage to the tire.
NOTICE
QDriving on rough roads
Take particular care when driving on roads with loose surfaces or potholes.These conditions may cause losses in
tire inflation pressure, reducing the cushioning ability of the tires. In addi-tion, driving on rough roads may
cause damage to the tires them- selves, as well as the vehicle’s wheels and body.
QIf tire inflation pressure of each tire becomes low while driving
Do not continue driving, or your tires and/or wheels may be ruined.

QRoutine tire inflation pressure
checks
The tire pressure warning system does
not replace routine tire inflation pressure
checks. Make sure to check tire inflation
pressure as part of your routine of daily
vehicle checks.
QTire inflation pressure
OIt may take a few minutes to display
the tire inflation pressure after the
power switch is turned to ON. It may
also take a few minutes to display the
tire inflation pressure after inflation
pressure has been adjusted.
OTire inflation pressure changes with
temperature. The displayed values
may also be different from the values
measured using a tire pressure
gauge.
QSituations in which the tire pres-
sure warning system may not oper-
ate properly
OIn the following cases, the tire pres-
sure warning system may not operate
properly.
• If non-genuine Toyota wheels are
used.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire
that is not an OE (Original Equipment)
tire.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire
that is not of the specified size.
• Tire chains, etc. are equipped.
• An auxiliary-supported run-flat tire is
equipped.
• If a window tint that affects the radio
wave signals is installed.
• If there is a lot of snow or ice on the
vehicle, particularly around the wheels
or wheel housings.
• If the tire inflation pressure is
extremely higher than the specified
level.
• If wheels without tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters are used.
• If the ID code on the tire pressure
warning valves and transmitters is not
registered in the tire pressure warning
computer.
OPerformance may be affected in the
following situations.
• Near a TV tower, electric power plant,
gas station, radio station, large dis-
play, airport or other facility that gen-
erates strong radio waves or electrical
noise
• When carrying a portable radio, cellu-
lar phone, cordless phone or other
wireless communication device
If tire position information is not cor-
rectly displayed due to the radio wave
conditions, the display may be cor-
rected by driving and changing the
radio wave conditions.
