NOTICE
●When there is a foreign object between the charging area and por-
table device
●When a portable device becomes
hot while charging
●When a portable device is placed
on the wireless area with its charging surface facing up
●When a portable device is not cen-tered on the charging area
●When the vehicle is near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas sta-tion, radio station, large display, air-
port or other facility that generates strong radio waves or electrical noise
●When the portable device is in con-tact with, or is covered by any of the
following metallic objects:
• Cards to which aluminum foil is
attached
• Cigarette boxes that have alumi-
num foil inside
• Metallic wallets or bags
•Coins
• Metal hand warmers
• Media such as CDs and DVDs
●When wireless keys (that emit radio waves) other than those of your
vehicle are being used nearby.
If in situations other than above the
wireless charger does not operate
properly or the operation indicator
light is blinking, the wireless charger
may be malfunctioning. Contact any
authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota
authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
■To prevent failure or damage to data
●Do not bring magnetic cards, such
as a credit card, or magnetic recording media, close to the wire-less charger while charging. Other-
wise, data may be erased due to the influence of magnetism.Additionally, do not bring precision
instruments such as wrist watches, close to the wireless charger, as such objects may malfunction.
●Do not leave portable devices in the cabin. The temperature inside the
cabin may become high when parked in the sun, and cause dam-age to the device.
■To prevent 12-volt battery dis-charge
Do not use the wireless charger for a long period of time with the hybrid system stopped.

6-3. Do-it-yourself maintenance
Maintenance and care
WARNING
●Keep hands, clothing and tools away from the moving fan.
●Be careful not to touch the engine, power control unit, radiator, exhaust
manifold, etc. right after driving as they may be hot. Oil and other flu-ids may also be hot.
●Do not leave anything that may burn easily, such as paper and
rags, in the engine compartment.
●Do not smoke, cause sparks or
expose an open flame to fuel or 12- volt battery. Fuel and 12-volt battery fumes are flammable.
●Be extremely cautious when work-ing on the 12-volt battery. It con-
tains poisonous and corrosive sulfuric acid.
●Take care because brake fluid can harm your hands or eyes and dam-age painted surfaces. If fluid gets
on your hands or in your eyes, flush the affected area with clean water immediately.
If you still experience discomfort, consult a doctor.
■When working near the electric cooling fan or radiator grille
Be sure the power switch is OFF.
With the power switch in ON, the electric cooling fan may automatically start to run if the air conditioning is on
and/or the coolant temperature is high. ( P.387)
■Safety glasses
Wear safety glasses to prevent flying or falling material, fluid spray, etc.
from getting in your eyes.
NOTICE
■If you remove the air cleaner fil- ter
Driving with the air cleaner filter removed may cause excessive engine wear due to dirt in the air.
■If the fluid level is low or high
It is normal for the brake fluid level to
go down slightly as the brake pads wear or when the fluid level in the accumulator is high.
If the reservoir needs frequent refill- ing, it may indicate a serious problem.

the engine oil. Warm up the engine
and turn off the hybrid system, wait
more than 5 minutes, and check the
oil level on the dipstick.
■Engine oil selection
Gasoline Engine
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is used
in your Toyota vehicle. Toyota rec-
ommends the use of approved
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil”.
Another motor oil of matching qual-
ity can also be used.
Oil grade:
0W-8: JASO GLV-1
0W-16:
API grade SN “Resource-Conserv-
ing”, SN PLUS “Resource-Conserv-
ing” or SP “Resource-Conserving”;
or ILSAC GF-6B multigrade engine
oil
0W-20 and 5W-30:
API grade SM “Energy-Conserv-
ing”, SN “Resource-Conserving”,
SN PLUS “Resource-Conserving”;
or SP “Resource-Conserving”; or
ILSAC GF-6A multigrade engine oil
Recommended viscosity (SAE):
Preferred
Temperature range anticipated
before next oil change
SAE 0W-8 is filled into your Toyota
vehicle at manufacturing, and the
best choice for good fuel economy
and good starting in cold weather. If
SAE 0W-8 oil is not available, SAE
0W-16 or 0W-20 oil may be used.
However, it should be replaced with
SAE 0W-8 at the next oil change.
Oil viscosity (0W-8 is explained
here as an example):
• The 0W in 0W-8 indicates the
characteristic of the oil which
allows cold startability. Oils with a
lower value before the W allow
for easier starting of the engine
in cold weather.
• The 8 in 0W-8 indicates the vis-
cosity characteristic of the oil
when the oil is at high tempera-
ture. An oil with a higher viscos-
ity (one with a higher value) may
be better suited if the vehicle is
