Tires
Check if the treadwear indicators are showing on the tires. Also check
the tires for uneven wear, such as excessive wear on one side of the
tread.
Check the spare tire condition and pressure if not rotated.

Treadwear indicator
The location of treadwear indicators is shown by a “TWI” or “ ”
mark, etc., molded into the sidewall of each tire.
Replace the tires if the treadwear indicators are showing on a
tire.
Replace or rotate tires in accordance with maintenance sched-
ules and treadwear.

Remove any dirt or foreign mat-
ter from the wheel contact sur-
face.
If foreign matter is on the wheel
contact surface, the wheel nuts
may loosen while the vehicle is in
motion, causing the tire to come
off.
Install the tire and loosely
tighten each wheel nut by hand
by approximately the same
amount.
Turn the wheel nuts until the wash-
ers come into contact with the disc
wheel.
Lower the vehicle.

If you have a flat tire
Your vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire, but instead is
equipped with an emergency tire puncture repair kit.
A puncture caused by a nail or screw passing through the tire
tread can be repaired temporarily using the emergency tire
puncture repair kit. (The kit contains a bottle of sealant. The
sealant can be used only once to temporarily repair one tire
without removing the nail or screw from the tire.) Depending on
the damage, this kit cannot be used to repair the tire. ( P. 338)
After temporarily repairing the tire with the kit, have the tire
repaired or replaced by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer. Repairs conducted
using the emergency tire puncture repair kit are only a tempo-
rary measure. Have the tire repaired and replaced as soon as
possible.
WARNING
■ If you have a flat tire
Do not continue driving with a flat tire.
Driving even a short distance with a flat tire can damage the tire and the
wheel beyond repair, which could result in an accident.
