1.Turn on the vehicle's hazard warning flashersif a wheel change must be performed in anarea with traffic.
2. Apply the parking brake and put the gearselector in P.
For vehicles with Leveling Control*: If thevehicle is equipped with pneumatic suspen-sion, this must be switched off before thevehicle is lifted with the jack*.
3.Take out the jack*, lug wrench* and tool forremoving the plastic covers, which arestowed in the foam block.
Tool for removing the plastic covers on the wheel bolts.
4. Place chocks in front of and behind thewheels that are still on the ground. For exam-ple, use heavy wooden blocks or largestones.
5.Using the lug wrench*, screw the towing eyeinto place as far as possible according to theinstructions.
CAUTION
The towing eyelet must be screwed into thelug wrench* as far as possible.
6. Remove the plastic covers from the wheelbolts using the designated tool.
7.With the vehicle still on the ground, use thelug wrench/towing eye to loosen the wheelbolts ½-1 turn by pressing downward (coun-terclockwise).
8. When hoisting the vehicle, it is important thatthe jack* or garage lift arms are positionedon the designated points under the vehicle.The triangle markings on the plastic coverindicate where the jack attachment points/lifting points are located. There are two jackattachment points on each side of the vehi-cle. There is a groove for the jack at eachattachment point.
9. Position the jack under the attachment pointbeing used, ensuring that the surface is firm,flat and not slippery.

10. Crank it up until it is properly aligned and it isin contact with the vehicle's jack attachmentpoint. Make sure the top of the jack (or thegarage lift arms) is correctly positioned in theattachment point, with the bump on the topof the jack in the recess in the attachmentpoint and the base positioned vertically underthe attachment point.
11. Turn the jack so that the crank is as far aspossible from the side of the vehicle, whichwill position the jack's arms perpendicular tothe vehicle's direction of movement.
12. Raise the vehicle until the wheel to bechanged can move freely. Unscrew the wheelbolts and lift off the wheel.

Instructions for installing a wheel during a wheelchange.
NOTE
The jack provided with your vehicle isintended to be used only in temporary situa-tions such as changing wheels in the event ofa flat tire. Only the jack that came with yourparticular model should be used to lift thevehicle. If the vehicle needs to be lifted morefrequently or for a prolonged period, using agarage jack or hoist is recommended. Alwaysfollow this device's instructions for use.
WARNING
Apply the parking brake and put the gearselector in the Park (P) position.
Block the wheels standing on the ground,use rigid wooden blocks or large stones.
Check that the jack is not damaged, thethreads are properly lubricated and it isfree from dirt.
Be sure the jack is on a firm, level, non-slippery surface and that it is upright andnot leaning.
The jack must correctly engage in thejack attachment.
No objects should be placed between thebase of the jack and the ground, orbetween the jack and the attachment baron the vehicle.
Never let anyone remain in the vehiclewhen it is raised on a jack.
If a tire must be changed near passingtraffic, make sure all passengers move toa safe location.
Use a jack intended for the vehicle whenchanging a tire. For any other job, usestands to support the vehicle.
Never crawl under or allow any part ofyour body to be extended under a vehiclesupported by a jack.

1.Clean the contact surfaces between thewheel and the wheel hub.
2. Lift the wheel into place. Tighten the wheelbolts securely.
Do not grease the wheel bolt threads.
3. Lower the vehicle so that the wheel cannotrotate.
4. Tighten the wheel bolts in a crisscross pat-tern (as shown in illustration). It is importantthat the wheel bolts are securely tightened.Tighten to a torque of 140 Nm (103 ft.lbs.).Use a torque wrench to check torque.
5. Press the plastic covers onto the wheel bolts.
WARNING
The wheel bolts may need to be tightenedagain several days after a wheel change.Temperature fluctuations and vibrations cancause them to loosen slightly.
NOTE
After inflating a tire, always replace thevalve cap to help prevent valve damagecaused by gravel, dirt, etc.
Use plastic valve caps only. Metal capscould corrode and become difficult toremove.

Spare wheel15
The spare wheel is a Temporary Spare and canbe used to temporarily replace a punctured tireon one of the vehicle's regular wheels.
The spare tire is only intended for temporary use.Replace it with a normal wheel as soon as possi-ble.
The driving characteristics of the vehicle changeand ground clearance reduces when the sparewheel is used. Do not wash the vehicle in anautomatic car wash while using the TemporarySpare.
The recommended tire pressure must be main-tained regardless of at which position the tempo-rary spare wheel is used on the vehicle.
If the spare wheel is damaged, a new one can bepurchased from a Volvo retailer.
WARNING
Current legislation prohibits the use of the"Temporary Spare" tire other than as a tem-porary replacement for a punctured tire. Itmust be replaced as soon as possible by astandard tire. Road holding and handling maybe affected with the "Temporary Spare" inuse. Do not drive faster than 80 km/h(50 mph).

Hoisting the vehicle
When hoisting the vehicle, it is important toensure the jack/vehicle hoist is correctlyengaged in the designated attachment pointsunder the vehicle.
For vehicles with self-leveling*, pneumatic sus-pension (if installed) must be turned off beforethe vehicle is lifted. Turning off the function in thecenter display.
WARNING
If the vehicle is lifted on a garage jack, thejack must be placed under one of the four lift-ing points. Make sure that the vehicle is cor-rectly positioned on the jack and that it can-not slide off. Make sure the jack plate has arubber pad to help keep the vehicle stableand prevent damage. Always use axle standsor similar.
NOTE
Volvo recommends only using the jackintended for your specific vehicle model. If ajack other than that recommended by Volvo isused, follow the instructions included with theequipment.
The vehicle's ordinary jack is only intended tobe used in temporary situations for short peri-ods of time, such as when changing wheels inthe event of a flat tire. If the vehicle needs tobe lifted more frequently, or for a longerperiod of time than for a wheel change, agarage jack or hoist is recommended. Alwaysfollow the instructions for use provided withthe equipment.

Cleaning fabric upholstery andceiling liner
Only use cleaning agents and car care productsrecommended by Volvo. Clean regularly andtreat stains immediately for best results. It isimportant to vacuum before using a cleaningagent.
Fabric upholstery and ceiling liner
Never scrape or rub a stain, as this could damagethe upholstery. Never use strong stain removers,as this could change the color of the upholstery.
Use soapy water or a similar detergent. For moredifficult stains caused by oil, ice cream, shoe pol-ish, etc., use a stain remover. Consult with yourVolvo retailer.

Seat belts
Use water and a synthetic soap solution. Spe-cially designed textile cleaning agents are availa-ble for purchase at Volvo retailers. Make sure thebelt is dry before it is retracted.

Inlay mats and floor mats
Remove the inlay mats to clean the floor matsand inlay mats separately. Use a vacuum toremove dust and dirt. Each inlay mat is securedinto place with pins.
Remove the inlay mat by grasping the inlay matat each pin and lifting the mat straight up.
Put the inlay mat back into place by pressing it inat each pin.

WARNING
Never use more than one inlay mat at atime on the driver's floor. If any other typeof floor mat is used, remove the originalmat from the driver's seat floor beforedriving. All types of mats must be securelyanchored in the attachment points in thefloor. Make sure the floor mat does notimpede the movement of the brake pedalor accelerator pedal in any way, as thiscould be a serious safety hazard.
Volvo's floor mats are specially manufac-tured for your vehicle. They must be prop-erly secured in the attachment points inthe floor to help ensure they cannot slideand become trapped under the pedals.
After vacuuming, a specially designed textilecleaning agent should be used to remove stainson floor mats. Floor mats should be cleaned withproducts recommended by Volvo retailers.

Leather upholstery *
Volvo's leather upholstery is treated to protect itsoriginal appearance. Over time, sunlight, grease,dirt, etc. could break down the protective layer.This could result in scratches and cracking.
Leather upholstery is a natural product thatchanges and acquires a beautiful patina overtime. Regular cleaning and treatments arerequired to preserve the qualities and color of theleather. Volvo offers a comprehensive product,Volvo Leather Care Kit/Wipes, for cleaning andtreating leather upholstery that, when used asdirected, preserves the leather's protective coa-ting.
For best results, Volvo recommends cleaning andapplying protective cream one to four times ayear (or more as needed). Volvo Leather Care Kit951 0251 and Volvo Leather Softener 9437429 are available for purchase at Volvo retailers.

Automatic car washes
The vehicle should be washed as soon as itbecomes dirty. This makes the vehicle easier toclean because dirt does not attach as strongly. Italso reduces the risk of scratches and keeps thevehicle looking new.
An automatic car wash is a fast and easy way tokeep your vehicle clean, but it does not reach allareas of the vehicle. For best results, Volvo rec-ommends hand washing your vehicle or supple-menting automatic car washes with a hand wash.
NOTE
Volvo recommends not washing the vehicle inan automatic car wash during the first fewmonths; the paintwork on new vehicles takessome time to fully harden.
CAUTION
Before driving the vehicle into a car wash,deactivate the Automatic Braking when Sta-tionary and Automatic Parking Brake Applica-tion functions. If the functions are not deacti-vated, the brake system will seize when thevehicle is stationary and the vehicle will not beable to roll.
CAUTION
For automatic car washes in which the vehicleis pulled forward on rolling wheels:
1.Before washing the vehicle, make surethat the automatic rain sensor is deacti-vated. If it is not deactivated and inadver-tently starts, the wiper arms could bedamaged.
2. To help prevent damage from the auto-matic car wash machinery, make surethat the door mirrors are folded in, anten-nas retracted or removed, and any auxili-ary lights secured.
3. Drive into the automatic car wash.
4. Turn off the "Automatic Braking when
Stationary" function using the buttonin the tunnel console.
5.Turn off the "Automatic Parking BrakeApplication" function in the center dis-play's Top view.
6. Turn off the engine by turning the startknob in the tunnel console clockwise.Hold the knob in position for at least2 seconds.
The vehicle is now ready for the automatic carwash.
CAUTION
The system will automatically change to Pmode if the above steps are not followed. In Pmode, the wheels are locked, which theyshould not be when the vehicle is beingwashed in a car wash.
