WARNING!
Theseatbeltsandairbagsinteract.Ifa
seatbeltisnotusedorisusedincorrectly,
thismaydiminishtheprotectionprovided
bytheairbagintheeventofacollision.
1.Notallcarshaveapassengerairbag
(SRS).Thiscanbeunselectedwhen
thecarisordered.
WARNING!
Tominimisetheriskofinjuryiftheairbag
deploys,passengersmustsitasupright
aspossiblewiththeirfeetonthefloorand
backsagainstthebackrest.Seatbelts
mustbesecured.
WARNING!
Neverplaceachildinachildseatorona
boostercushioninthefrontseatiftheair-
bag(SRS)isactivated

Neverallowachildtostandorsitinfront
ofthefrontpassengerseat.
Nooneshorterthan140cmshouldsitin
thefrontpassengerseatiftheairbag
(SRS)isactivated.
Failuretofollowtheadvicegivenabove
canendangerthelifeofthechild.

injury–WHIPSTheWHIPSsystem(WhiplashProtection
System)consistsofenergyabsorbingback-
restsandspeciallydesignedheadrestraints
forthefrontseats.Thesystemisactuatedby
arear-endcollision,wheretheangleand
speedofthecollision,andthepropertiesof
thecollidingvehicleallhaveaninfluence.
PropertiesoftheseatWhentheWHIPSsystemisdeployed,the
frontseatbackrestsfallbackwardtoalterthe
positionofthedriverandfrontseatpassen-
ger.Thisdiminishestheriskofwhiplash
injury.
WHIPSsystemandchildseats/
boostercushionsTheWHIPSsystemdoesnotdiminishthe
protectionprovidedbythecartochildren
seatedinachildseatoronabooster
cushion.CorrectseatingpositionForthebestpossibleprotection,thedriver
andfrontseatpassengershouldsitinthe
centreoftheseatwithaslittlespaceaspos-
siblebetweentheheadandthehead
restraint.

TheWHIPSsystemisasupplementtothe
seatbelts.Alwayswearyourseatbelt.

NevermodifyorrepairtheseatorWHIPS

videoptimumsafetyforchildren.Combined
withtheregularseatbelts,theboostercush-
ionisapprovedforchildrenweighing
between15and36kg.Raisingtheboostercushion
–Pullthathandletoraisethebooster
cushion(1).
–Graspthecushionwithbothhandsand
pushitbackwards(2).
–Pushuntilitlocksinplace(3).Checkthat:
theseatbeltislocked
theseatbeltisincontactwiththechild’s
bodyandisnotslackortwisted,andthat
thebeltispositionedcorrectlyacrossthe
shoulder
thelapbeltislowoverthepelvisfor
optimumprotection
thebeltdoesnottouchthechild’sthroat
orliebelowtheshoulder
carefullyadjustthepositionofthehead
restrainttosuitthechild
WARNING!
Theboostercushionmustbeinthelocked
positionbeforethechildisplacedthere.
WARNING!
Repairorreplacementshouldonlybeper-
formedbyanauthorisedVolvoworkshop.
Donotmakeanymodificationsoraddi-
tionstotheboostercushion.
Ifanintegratedboostercushionhasbeen
subjectedtoamajorload,suchasin
conjunctionwithacollision,theentire
boostercushionmustbereplaced.Evenif
theboostercushionappearstobe
undamaged,itmaynotaffordthesame
levelofprotection.Theboostercushion
mustalsobereplacedifitisheavilyworn.
