Phone
A Bluetooth-enabled cell phone can be paired and connected to the vehicle's integrated hands-free system.
The infotainment system offers hands-free func- tionality for remote-controlling a number of a cellphone's features. The phone's integrated controlscan also be used, even when it is connected tothe vehicle. When the phone has been paired and connected to the infotainment system, it can be used tomake or receive calls, send or receive text mes-sages, to stream music, etc., or as an Internetconnection.
The phone is controlled fromthe center display but the Appmenu (accessed using theright-side steering wheel key-pad) and voice commands canalso be used to control certainfunctions.

Pairing a cell phone
A Bluetooth ®
-enabled cell phone or other device
can be paired and wirelessly connected to the infotainment system.
When a cell phone or other device is connected, audio can be streamed to the infotainment sys-tem. Toggle between the devices by pressing the TEL and MEDIA buttons to access the respective
sources' functions. Before a Bluetooth device can be used with the infotainment system, it has to be paired("registered"). This procedure only needs to be done once for each device (a maximum of 20 Bluetooth devicescan be paired to the system). Once a device hasbeen paired and its Bluetooth function is acti-

Handling phone calls Calls can be made to one or more parties.
Making calls1. In the center display, open Phone view.
2. Initiate a call from: recently made calls, the
phone book (list of contacts) or enter a num- ber. Search for or scroll to a contact in the phone book. Tap
in the phone book to
add a contact to your list of Favorites. 3.

Calls can also be made from the list of recent calls using the App menu, which can be opened using the right-side steering wheel keypad's

Switch to mobile phone: the hands-free
function will be disconnected and the call will continue in the cell phone.

Driver only: the microphone in the ceiling
liner on the passenger's side will be muted and the call will continue using vehicle's thehands-free function on the driver's side.

Handling text messages
Text messages can be received and sent from a connected cell phone.
Text message functionality has to be activated in certain cell phones and not all phones offer fullcompatibility/functionality. Go tosupport.volvocars.com for additional information.
Reading text messages in the center display
1. From App view, tap Messages to open.
2. Tap the name of the contact who sent the message.
3. Tap
Read out to have the message read
aloud or tap the message to be displayed.
Reading new text messages in the instrument panel
Text messages are only displayed in the instru- ment panel if this has been selected. See thearticle "Text message settings" for more informa-tion.

Text message settings
The following settings can be made for text mes- sages received through a paired and connectedcell phone.

Playing media The media player can controlled from the right- side steering wheel keypad, the center display orby using voice commands. The radio is also controlled from the media player. See the articles relating to the radio.
Starting a media source

Media searchesSearches can be made for information such as artists, composers, song titles, albums, video,audio books, playlists and podcasts (digitalmedia on the Internet).

Playing media through the AUX/USB sockets
An external media device, such as an iPod or an mp-3 player can be connected to the infotain-ment system.
A device with rechargeable batteries can be recharged when it is connected to the USBsocket (if the ignition is on or the engine is run-ning). To simplify the use of a USB flash drive, it is advisable to only store files with compatible fileformats on it. It will take considerably longer forthe system to index the files on the drive if it con-tains anything other than compatible files. In addition to audio, the vehicle's media player also supports video playback when the externaldevice is connected to the USB socket. Certain mp-3 players have proprietary file formats that are not supported by the infotainment sys-tem.

Volvo On Call (VOC) *
VOC is an integrated, subscription-based sys-
tem that provides emergency, roadside assis- tance and security services.
VOC is connected to the vehicle's airbag and alarm systems. The vehicle has an integratedGlobal System for Mobile Communications(GSM) module that handles communicationbetween the vehicle and the VOC customer serv-ice center.
AvailabilityVOC uses the Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) to locate the vehicle and its integratedGSM module to enable communication with theVOC customer service center and the VOCmobile app. From the time that the remote key has been removed from the vehicle, VOC's functionsremain available for 5 full days and subsequentlyonce an hour for the following 17 days. Afterthree weeks have elapsed, the system will remainswitched off until the engine is started.
WARNING
The system can only function in areas where there is adequate cellular network coverage. Just as in the case of cell phones, atmos- pheric disturbances or areas with relativelyfew GSM transmitters can make it impossiblefor VOC to make a connection, for example, inrural areas.
SubscriptionsA free, limited-time trial subscription is initiated when the vehicle is purchased and VOC is acti-vated. The subscription can be extended by con-tacting your Volvo retailer.

Using Volvo On Call
Volvo On Call (VOC) is controlled using the but- tons in the ceiling console and the center dis-play.
In the event of an accident in which the seat belt pretensioners, airbags or the inflatable curtainshave been triggered, a signal is transmitted auto-
matically to the VOC customer service center,who send the appropriate type of assistance(ambulance, police, etc.) to the site. When a service is active, a symbol will appear on the center display.

2 seconds to activate the manual alarm function.

The ON CALL button: roadside assistancePress the ON CALL button for approx. 2 seconds
to activate the roadside assistance functions.
Alternative to the ON CALL button
In the center display's Phone view, tap On Call.
Select Call in the pop-up window that opens.
NOTE
The SOS button should only be used in an
emergency situation such as an accident, ill- ness or in the event of a threat to the occu-pants of the vehicle. Misusing this buttoncould result in extra charges. The ON CALL button can be used for all of
the other VOC services, including roadside assistance.
Canceling a callA service call that has been initiated can be can- celled within 10 seconds by pressing the EXIT
button on the steering wheel keypad.
