Connect the car to the Internet viacar modem (SIM card) For vehicles equipped with Volvo On Call, it is possible to establish an Internet connection viathe vehicle modem and a personal SIM card (P-SIM).
When the vehicle is connected using the inte- grated modem, the Volvo On Call services willuse this connection. 1.
Insert a personal SIM card in the holder.

4. Activate/deactivate by tapping to check/ uncheck the

Deleting Wi-Fi networks
Networks that are not needed can be deleted.
1. Tap Settings in the Top view.
2. Proceed to
CommunicationWi-FiSaved networks.
3. Tap
Forget to delete the network.
4. Confirm the selection. > The vehicle will no longer connect to thedeleted network.
Deleting all networksAll networks can be deleted at once by perform- ing a factory reset. Please note that all user dataand system settings will be restored to originaldefault factory settings.

Wi-Fi technology and security
Networks must meet certain criteria in order for the vehicle to connect.
It is possible to connect to the following types of networks:
• Frequency - 2.4 or 5 GHz 13
.
• Standards - 802.11 a/b/g/n.
• Security type - WPA2-AES-CCMP.
The vehicle's Wi-Fi system is designed to handleWi-Fi devices inside the vehicle. Performance may be impaired if multiple devices are using a frequency at the same time.

1. Clean the contact surfaces between the
wheel and the wheel hub.
2. Lift the wheel into place. Tighten the wheel bolts securely. Do not grease the wheel bolt threads.
3. Lower the vehicle so that the wheel cannot rotate.
4. Tighten the wheel bolts in a crisscross pat- tern (as shown in illustration). It is important that the wheel bolts are securely tightened.Tighten to a torque of 140 Nm (103 ft.lbs.).Use a torque wrench to check torque.
5. Press the plastic covers onto the wheel bolts.
WARNING
The wheel bolts may need to be tightened again several days after a wheel change.Temperature fluctuations and vibrations cancause them to loosen slightly.
NOTE
• After inflating a tire, always replace the valve cap to help prevent valve damagecaused by gravel, dirt, etc.
• Use plastic valve caps only. Metal capscould corrode and become difficult toremove.

Spare wheel11
The spare wheel is a Temporary spare and can be used to temporarily replace a punctured tireon one of the vehicle's regular wheels.
The spare tire is only intended for temporary use. Replace it with a normal wheel as soon as possi-ble. The driving characteristics of the vehicle change and ground clearance reduces when the sparewheel is used. Do not wash the vehicle in anautomatic car wash while using the TemporarySpare. The recommended tire pressure must be main- tained regardless of at which position the tempo-rary spare wheel is used on the vehicle. If the spare wheel is damaged, a new one can be purchased from a Volvo retailer.
WARNING
Current legislation prohibits the use of the "Temporary Spare" tire other than as a tem-porary replacement for a punctured tire. Itmust be replaced as soon as possible by astandard tire. Road holding and handling maybe affected with the "Temporary Spare" inuse. Do not drive faster than 80 km/h(50 mph).

WARNING
• The vehicle must never be driven with more than one "Temporary spare" tiremounted.
• Driving with a spare wheel may alter thedriving characteristics of the vehicle.Replace the spare wheel with a normalwheel as soon as possible.
• The spare wheel is smaller than the nor-mal wheel, which affects the vehicle'sground clearance. Watch for high curbsand do not wash the vehicle in an auto-matic car wash when a spare wheel ismounted.
• Follow the manufacturer's recommendedtire inflation pressure for the spare wheel.
• On all-wheel drive vehicles, the drive onthe rear axle can be disconnected.
• If the spare wheel is mounted on thefront axle, snow chains must not be used.
• The spare wheel must not be repaired.
CAUTION
The vehicle must not be driven with wheels of different dimensions or with a spare tire otherthan the one that came with the vehicle. Theuse of different size wheels can seriouslydamage your vehicle's transmission.

Accessing the spare wheel
Follow these instructions regarding handling the spare wheel.
The spare wheel is stored in a bag and should be secured with two straps onto the floor of thetrunk/cargo compartment when the vehicle is being driven 12
. The straps should be strapped
down crosswise over the wheel, attached to the load anchoring eyelets and pulled taut. Wheel changing tools are located under the cargo compartment floor.

Sun visors In the ceiling in front of the driver and front pas- senger, there are sun visors that can be loweredand angled to the side as necessary.
The illustration is generic – the design may vary.
The mirror lighting * comes on automatically when
the cover is lifted up. The mirror frame has a holder for e.g. cards or tickets.

Cargo compartment The vehicle has a flexible cargo compartment that makes it possible to carry and secure largeobjects.
The cargo compartment capacity can be consid- erably increased by folding down the backrests in the second and third rows
* of seats. To make
loading and unloading easier, the rear section of the vehicle can be raised and lowered using the level control function *. Use the load anchoring
eyelets or grocery bag holders to help secure objects in place, and the retractable cargo com- partment cover * to help conceal objects in the
cargo compartment. If the vehicle is equipped with a temporary spare tire, this is secured to the cargo compartmentfloor under the cover. The towing eyelet and tiresealing system are located under the cargo com-partment floor.

Loading recommendations
There are a number of things to consider when carrying loads in or on the vehicle.
Load-carrying capacity is determined by the vehi- cle's curb weight. The total weight of all passen-gers and any installed accessories reduces thevehicle's load-carrying capacity by the corres-ponding amount.
WARNING
The vehicle's driving characteristics change depending on the weight and position of theload.
Loading in the trunk and cargo compartment
• Position objects so they are pressing against the rear seat backrests.
• Distribute the load evenly.
• Heavy objects should be positioned as lowas possible. Avoid placing heavy objects onfolded-down seat backrests.
• Cover sharp corners with a soft cloth or simi-lar to help prevent damage to the upholstery.
• Use the load anchoring eyelets and tension-ing straps or similar to secure all objects.

WARNING
In a head-on collision at a speed of 50 km/h (30 mph), an unsecured object weighing 20kg (44 pounds) can reach a projectile weightequivalent to 1000 kg (2200 pounds).
WARNING
If objects are loaded higher than the upper edge of the side windows, leave a 10 cm (4in.) space between the objects and the win-dow. Objects placed closer to this couldimpede the function of the inflatable curtainconcealed inside the headlining.
WARNING
Always secure the load. Otherwise, it may shift during heavy braking and injure people in thevehicle. Cover sharp edges and sharp corners with something soft. Turn off the engine and apply the parking brake when loading/unloading long objects.Otherwise, it is possible for the load to reachthe gear lever or gear selector and move it toa drive position – which could cause the vehi-cle to begin rolling.
Extra cargo space
The rear seat backrests can be folded down to increase cargo compartment space and simplifyloading. If the rear seat backrests are folded down, make sure that no objects loaded into thevehicle prevent the WHIPS system for the frontseats from functioning correctly.
Raising/lowering the rear end of the vehicle

The rear end of the vehicle can be lowered or raised for easier loading or to facilitate attaching a trailer*.
The controls for raising/lowering are located at the rear edge of the cargo compartment's rightside panel.

The controls consist of two buttons ‒ one button
for lowering and one button for raising the rear end. Press and hold the relevant button until thedesired height is reached. The rear end of the vehicle cannot be raised higher than its normal height. The rear end will return to the normal heightwhen the vehicle begins driving.
NOTE
It is not possible to adjust the height of the vehicle's rear when one or more of the doorsor the hood is open. This does not apply tothe tailgate.
WARNING
Make sure that no people, animals or objects are found under the vehicle when it is low-ered. This could endanger life and causedamage to the vehicle or objects.

Roof loads and load carriers Volvo-developed load carriers are recommended for carrying loads on the roof of the vehicle.
Volvo load carriers are specially designed to help prevent damage to your vehicle and help ensuremaximum safety while driving. Volvo load carriersare available from authorized Volvo retailers. Carefully follow the installation instructions provi- ded with the load carriers. • Check periodically to ensure that the load carriers and load are properly secured.Secure the load firmly using tie straps orsimilar.
• Distribute the load evenly throughout theload carriers. Place heavier cargo at the bot-tom of the load.
• The vehicle's wind resistance and fuel con-sumption increase with the size of the load.
• Drive smoothly. Avoid rapid acceleration, hardbraking and fast cornering.
WARNING
The vehicle's center of gravity and driving characteristics are altered by roof loads. Follow the vehicle's specifications regarding weights and maximum permitted load.

Grocery bag holders Grocery bag holders (hooks) help keep shop- ping bags in place and prevent them from fallingover and spilling their contents in the cargocompartment.
On the sides of the cargo compartment
There are two fold-out holders in the side panels, one on each side of the cargo compartment.
CAUTION
The grocery bag holders are only intended to hold weights up to 5 kg (11 lbs).

Load anchoring eyelets
The fold-out eyelets in the cargo compartment can be used to secure objects with straps, a net,etc.
WARNING
Hard, sharp and/or heavy objects in or pro- truding from the vehicle can cause injury inthe event of hard braking. Always secure large and heavy objects with a seat belt or cargo retaining straps.

Installing and removing the cargo
compartment cover

The cover can be rolled out to conceal objects in the cargo compartment.

Press the end piece on one side of the cover into the retaining bracket in the side panel ofthe cargo compartment.
Then put the other end piece in the recess in the side panel on the opposite side.
Push the end piece down on both sides, one at a time.
> When a click is heard and the red marks
on each end piece are no longer visible, the cover is in place. Check that it issecure.
Removing the cargo compartment cover
In retracted position:
1. Press the button on one of the cover's ends and lift out that end.For 7-seat models - remove the third row seat belt latches from the hooks above theside panels.
2. Carefully lift the cover up and out. > The other end will release automaticallyand the cover can then be lifted out of thecargo compartment.

In the XC90 Excellence, the cargo compartment cover is permanently fixed and cannot be taken out or put in.
