- If possible, fit a wheel chock.
Call on a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Displa

- The parking brake does not have its full per formance to securely hold the vehicle
in all situations.
You should make your vehicle safe:

- Park on a level surface.

- Engage a gear with a manual or electronic gearbox, or place the gear selector in
position Pwith an automatic gearbox.

- If possible, fit a wheel chock.
Call on a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
The flashin

- The state of charge of the battery is very low and requires immobilisation of the
vehicle in a safe place: engage a gear with a manual gearbox or fit a chock toone of the wheels.

- Once the battery is completely discharged, the controls do not operate: to
release the parking brake, call on a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

Hill start assist
System which keeps your vehicle immobilised
temporarily (approximately 2 seconds) whenstarting on a gradient, the time it takes to
move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal. This system only operates when:
- the vehicle is completely stationary, withyour foot on the brake pedal,
- cer tain conditions of slope are met,
- with the driver’s door closed.
The hill star t assist system cannot be deactivated.
On an ascendin
g slope, with the vehiclestationary, the vehicle is held for amomentarily when you release the brakepedal:

- provided you are in first gear or neutral on
a manual gearbox,

- provided you are in position A
or M
on an electronic gearbox, Dor Mon an automatic gearbox.

Operation
On a descending slope, with the vehicle
stationary and reverse gear engaged, thevehicle is held momentarily when yourelease the brake pedal.

Operating fault

If a fault in the system occurs, these warning lamps come on, accompanied by an alert message. Contact a CITROËN dealer or
a qualified workshop to have the systemchecked.
Do not exit the vehicle while it is beingheld in the hill star t assist phase.
If you need to exit the vehicle withthe engine running, apply the parkingbrake manually then ensure that theparking brake warning lamp (and the warning lamp P
in the lever of theelectric parking brake) are on fixed (not flashing).

6-speed electronic gearbox system
Six-speed electronic gearbox system which
offers a choice between the comfor t of fully automatic operation and manual gear changing. There are two driving modes:
-automatedmode for automatic control
of the gears by the gearbox, without anyaction on the par t of the driver - manualmode for sequential gear changingby the driver using the steering mountedpaddles.
In automated mode, you can temporarily take
over control of gear changing.

Automated mode
)Select position A.
AUTOor A
and the gear engaged is
displayed in the instrument panel.
The gearbox operates in auto-active mode,
without an
y action on the par t of the driver. Itcontinuously selects the most suitable gear for:
- optimisation of fuel consumption,
- the st
yle of driving,
- the profile of the road.
- t
he vehicle load.

For optimum acceleration, for examplewhen overtaking another vehicle, press the accelerator pedal firmly past the point of resistance.

Te m p o r a ry control of gear changing

You can temporarily take over control of gear changing using the "+"
and "-"steeringmounted paddles. If the engine speed allows,
the instruction to change gear is acted on.
This function allows you to anticipate cer tain
s
ituations such as overtaking a vehicle or the
approach to a corner.
After a few moments without any action on
the control paddles, the gearbox resumes
automatic control of the gears.

)Select position M.
The gears engaged are displayed in succession
in the instrument panel.
The
gear change requests are only acted on if
the engine speed permits.
It is not necessary to release the accelerator
durin
g gear changes.
When braking or slowing down, the gearboxchanges down automatically to allow the
vehicle to accelerate in the correct gear.
On sharp acceleration, the gearbox will notchange up unless the driver acts on thesteering mounted paddles.

Manual mode

You can change mode at any time by movingthe selector lever from A
to Mor the other way
round.

To engage reverse gear R, the vehicle must be
immobilised with your foot on the brake pedal.
)Select position R.

Reverse

Engagement of reverse gear is accompanied
b
y an audible signal.

At low speed, if reverse gear is requested, the Nindicator flashes and the gearbox goes into neutral automatically. To engage reverse, put
the selector lever in position N , then position R.
Before switching off the engine, you can:
- move to position N
to engage neutral,or
- leave the gear engaged; in this case, it will
not be possible to move the vehicle.
Stopping the vehicle
In both cases, if automatic operation of the
electric parking brake has been deactivated, you must apply the parking brakeby pullingthe control lever.
When immobilising the vehicle, withthe engine running, you must place theselector lever in neutral N . Before carrying out any work in the
engine compartment, ensure that theselector lever is in neutral N
and that the parking brake is applied.Whatever the circumstances, you mustmanually apply the parking brake when parking, if automatic operation has been deactivated.
With the i
gnition on, the flashing of Aor
AUTO, accompanied by an audible signal and
a message, indicates a malfunction of thegearbox.

Operating fault

Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the parking brake is applied and automatic operation is activated, accelerate away.
Never press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time. Braking and acceleration should be done only with the right foot. Pressing both pedals together risks damaging the gearbox.

y take control of gear changes using the "+
" and "-" steering mounted control paddles. If the engine speed allows, the
instruction to change gear is acted on.
This function allows you to anticipate cer tain situations such as overtaking another vehicle or
approaching a bend.
After a few moments with no action on the control paddles, the gearbox manages thegears automatically again.

Te m p o r a ry manual control of the gears

Manual mode
Dand the gear engaged are displayed in the instrument panel.
The gearbox operates in auto-active
mode, without any action from the driver. It continuously selects the most appropriate gear
according to the following conditions:

- optimisation of fuel consumption,

- drivin
g style,

- relief of the road,

- vehicle load.

Automated mode
)
Select position D.

For maximum acceleration, without touching
the gear selector, press the accelerator fully
down (kick down). The gearbox changes down
automatically and maintains the gear selected
until the maximum en
gine speed is reached.
When braking, the gearbox changes down
automatically for more effective engine braking.
When you take your foot of the accelerator pedal suddenly, the gearbox does not change
up, so as to improve safety.
) Select position M.)
Use the " + " and "- " steering mounted
control paddles to change gear.
The gears engaged are displayed successively
in the instrument panel.
When stationar
y or at very low speed, the gearbox automatically engages 1st
gear.
In manual mode, it is not necessary to release
the accelerator pedal when changing gear.
The change from one gear to another is onlyeffected if the conditions of vehicle speed andengine speed allow; other wise the automatic
laws of operation are imposed temporarily.
If the engine speed is too high or too low,
the display of the gear selected flashes for a few seconds, then the new gear engaged is displayed.
It is possible to change mode at any time, by moving the gear selector from D
to Mor the other way round.
