DIESEL ENGINES
They allow you access for checking
the level of the various fl uids, for re-
placing certain components and for
repriming the fuel.

1. Screenwash and headlamp
wash reservoir.

2. Power steering fl uid reservoir or
power steering and suspension
fl uid reservoir, depending on
equipment.

3. Coolant reservoir.

4. Dipstick.

5. Engine oil fi ller cap.

6. Air fi lter.

7. Brake fl uid reservoir.

8. Battery.
As the diesel circuit is pres-
surised, any work on this
circuit is prohibited.
Vehicles fi tted with the HDi 138
engine may be fi tted with metal
suspension. In this case, a differ-
ent power steering fl uid reservoir is
fi tted.

The diesel fuel circuit being
under high pressure:
- Any intervention on the circuit is prohibited.
- HDi engines are the result of advanced technology.
Any intervention requires spe-
cial qualifi cations which only a
CITROËN dealer can guarantee.

Screenwash and headlamp
wash fluid
Fluid specifi cation
For optimum cleaning and to avoid
freezing, this fl uid must not be
topped up or replaced with water.
Reservoir capacities:
-
screenwash: approximately 3.5 litres,
- screenwash and headlamp wash: approximately 6.15 litres. Diesel additive level (Diesel
engine with particle emission
filter)
A low additive level is indicated by
lighting of the service warning light,
accompanied by an audible warning
and a message on the multifunction
display.
Topping up
This additive must be topped up by
a CITROËN dealer without delay.
Used products
Avoid prolonged contact of
used oil or fl uids with the
skin.
Most of these fl uids are harmful to
health or indeed very corrosive.
Do not discard used oil or
fl uids into sewers or onto
the ground.
Empty used oil into the contain-
ers provided for this purpose in the
CITROËN network.
In the case of vehicles fi tted
with headlamp washers, the
minimum level of this fl uid is
indicated by an audible signal
and a message on the multifunction
display.
Top up the level when you stop the
vehicle.
Coolant level
Draining the circuit
The coolant does not have to be
changed.
Fluid specifi cation
The coolant must conform to the
manufacturer's recommendations. The coolant level should be
close to the "MAX" mark but
should never exceed it.
When the engine is warm, the tem-
perature of the coolant is regulated
by the fan. This can operate with the
ignition off.

On vehicles which are fi tted with
a particle emission fi lter, the fan
may operate after the vehicle has
been switched off, even if the en-
gine is cold.
In addition, as the cooling system is
pressurised, wait at least one hour
after switching off the engine before
carrying out any work.
To avoid any risk of scalding, unscrew
the cap by two turns to allow the pres-
sure to drop. When the pressure has
dropped, remove the cap and top up
the level.

For the maintenance of the front
headlamp unit and the changing of
HP19, D1S and HP21 bulbs, contact
a CITROËN dealer.
Risk of electrocution
Xenon bulbs must be re-
placed by a CITROËN
dealer.
You are advised to change the
D1S bulbs at the same time,
if one of them has failed.

dealer. Halogen bulbs must not be changed
until they have been off for a few
minutes (risk of serious burns).
Do not touch the bulb directly with
your fi ngers, use a lint-free cloth.
It is essential that only anti-U.V.
type bulbs are used in order not to
damage the headlamp.
