A mixture of up to 10 % ethanol (grain alco-hol) and 90 % unleaded petrol may be used in
your vehicle, provided the octane number isat least as high as that recommended forunleaded petrol.
NOTE
z*1: Refer to “Limited driving mode
warning display” on page 6-33.
Display of the Limited driving mode warni
ng display does not i
ndicate a malfunction.
z*2: Refer to “ready indicator” on page 6-37.

rol to the vehicle. If the information of
“” mark on the wireless LAN device is displ
ayed, connect the
EV charging cable as soon as possible.Refer to “MITSUBISHI Remote
Control” on page 3-17.
If the warming up of the drive battery is activated during home
or public charging device (EVSE:

45 litres1. Before filling with fuel, stop the plug-inhybrid EV system.
NOTE
zPoor quality petrol can cause problems suchas hard starting, sta
lling, engine noise and
hesitation. If your experience these prob-lems, try another brand and/or grade of pet-rol.If the check engine
warning lamp flashes,
have the system checked as soon as possibleat a MITSUBISHI MOTORS AuthorisedService Point.
Filling the fuel tank
WA R N I N GzWhen handling fuel, comply with thesafety regulations displayed by garagesand filling stations.zGasoline is highly flammable and explo-sive. You could be burned or seriouslyinjured when handling it. When refuelingyour vehicle, always
put the operation
mode of the power switch in OFF andkeep away from flames, sparks, and smok-ing materials. Always handle fuel in well-ventilated outdoor areas.zBefore removing the fuel cap, be sure toget rid of your body’s static electricity bytouching a metal part of the car or fuelpump. Any static electricity on your bodycould create a spark that ignites fuelvapor.
zPerform the whole refueling process(opening the fuel tank filler door, remov-ing the fuel cap, etc.) by yourself. Do notlet any other person come near the fueltank filler. If you allowed a person to helpyou and that person was carrying staticelectricity, fuel vapor could be ignited.zDo not perform chargi
ng and refueling at
the same time. If you charged with staticelectricity, fuel vapor could be ignited bythe discharge spark.zDo not move away from the fuel tank filleruntil refueling is finished. If you movedaway and did something else (for example, sitting on a seat) part-way through therefueling process, you could pick up afresh charge of st
atic electricity.
zBe careful not to inhale fuel vapor. Fuelcontains toxic substances.zKeep the doors and windows closed whilerefueling the vehicle. If they were open, fuel vapor could get into the cabin.zIf the tank cap must be replaced, use onlya MITSUBIHI MOTORS original part.WA R N I N G
CAUTIONzDepending on the opera
ting conditions of
your vehicle, the fuel in the fuel tank maynot be used for a long time and stay in thetank, resulting in deterioration of the fuelquality. As this may af
fect the engine and
fuel system parts, observe the followinginstructions:•Run the engine by pressing the batterycharge switch at least once in 3 months.Refer to “Battery charge switch” on page7-23.• Refuel 20 litres or more of fuel every 6months (to make the total refueling amountin 6 months be 20 litres or more).
zIf refueling of the above
amount is not possi-
ble due to a high fuel level because the vehi-cle has not been used for a long time or forsome other reason, consult a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point.

NOTE
zThe auxiliary battery is automaticallycharged while the ready indicator is illumi-nated or during charge for the drive battery.Refer to “Ready indica

zIf the auxiliary battery is flat, the Plug-inHybrid EV system cannot be started.Refer to “Emergency starting” on page 9-2.
Basic knowledge for charg-ing
NOTE
WA R N I N GzTo r e d u c e t h e r i s k o f e l e c t r i c s h o c k o r f i r edue to electric leak,
always use an outlet
protected by a residual current detector, rated for amperage equal to or greaterthan the value specified by MITSUBISHIMOTORS, and that is connected to a dedi-cated branch circuit. If the circuit isshared, and another electrical device isbeing used at the same time the vehicle ischarging, the breaker may trip and thecircuit may cause adverse interference onMCB (Moulded Circui
t Board) and house-
hold electrical appliances such as TVs andaudio systems.zIt is possible to charge even in rain orsnow. However, be sure to pay attention tothe following:

•Do not touch normal charging port, nor-mal charge connector, outlet and plugwith wet hands.•Keep away from water when connectingthe normal charging port, normal chargeconnector, outlet and plug.•Do not perform the ch
arging in the out of
doors when heavy rain, heavy snow, strong winds, and thunder, when a badweather is expected in the future.
zIf water goes into the normal chargingport or the normal charge connector, itcould cause a short ci
rcuit, a fire and an
electric shock. Be sure closing completely the charginglid and the inner lid and do not leave theEV charging cable
in an outdoors.
zIf the connected part of the charging plughas been buried in snow while charging, turn off the hand switch or the breakerconnected with the outlet first, thenremove the snow and disconnect thecharging plug. If your vehicle body hasbeen buried in snow while charging, remove the snow and then disconnect thecharge connector.WA R N I N G
zWhen you perform the normal charging ataway from home, some normal chargersmay not correspond to your vehicle. Con-sult an administrator or a maker of thenormal charger that it corresponds toyour vehicle before using it. Also performnormal charging according to the operat-ing procedure indicated on the body ofnormal charger.CAUTIONzDo not attempt to perform a jump start on theauxiliary battery at the same time that thedrive battery is being charged. Doing so maydamage the vehicle or charging cable andcould cause an injury.Refer to “Emergency starting” on page 9-2.NOTE
zTo m a i n t a i n t h e c a p a c i t y o f t h e d ri v e b a t t e r y,the following is recommended:•Fully charge the vehicle in normal chargingevery two weeks.• Do not repeat charging near the full chargelevel.WA R N I N G
zIf your vehicle is not used for a long time, check the energy level gauge every 3months. If the gauge shows 0, charge thedrive battery until some indication appears.Alternately, put the operation mode of thepower switch in “ON” to start the engineautomatically, wait for the engine to stopautomatically, then put the operation modeof the power switch in “OFF”.zIn the event of a electrical power outagewhile charging, charging restarts automati-cally with the restoration of electricity.NOTE
