KEYS
Central locking and unlocking
From the front doors, the keys allow you
to lock and unlock the doors and boot.
If one of the doors is open, the central
locking does not work.
If the boot is open, the central locking
works.
Remote control
This carries out the same functions as
the key, from a distance. Locking
Press button
A to lock the vehicle.
This is confi rmed by fi xed lighting of the
direction indicators for approximately
two seconds.
Unlocking
Press button B to unlock the vehicle.
This is confi rmed by rapid fl ashing of
the direction indicators. Starting the vehicle
Steering lock
Before starting, unlock the steering, if
necessary, by turning the steering wheel
slightly while turning the key.
It is advisable to release the clutch dur-
ing the action of the starter to facilitate
the starting of the engine.
There are four possible positions of the
key in the ignition switch:

1. STOP position:
the ignition is off.

2. 1st notch, Accessories position:
the ignition is off but the accessories can operate.

3. 2nd notch, On position:
the ignition is on.

4. Starting position:
the starter is operated.
Avoid pressing the buttons of your
remote control out of range of your
vehicle as this could stop it from
working. The remote control would
then have to be reprogrammed
(refer to the corresponding section).

ELECTRONIC ENGINE
IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine control system as
soon as the ignition has been switched
off and therefore prevents starting of
the vehicle by anyone who does not
have the key.
The ignition key has an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the ig-
nition is switched on, the code must be
recognised for starting to be possible.

If the system does not function correct-
ly, the central locking button indicator light,
situated on the handbrake console, fl ash-
es rapidly when the ignition is switched on
(2nd notch).
In this case your vehicle will not start.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.


Key in ignition
If the key is left in the ignition, this
is indicated by an audible signal
when the driver's door is opened.
Locating your vehicle
To locate your vehicle, if you have
locked it, in a car park:

 press button A , the courtesy lights
come on and the direction indicators
fl ash for a few seconds.

Changing the remote control
battery
Battery ref.: CR2016/3 volts.
If the remote control battery is fl at, you
are warned by a message on display B.
To replace the battery, remove the
screw then unclip the casing using a
coin at the ring.
If the remote control does not work after
the battery has been changed, repro-
gramme the remote control. Programming the remote
control

 Switch off the ignition.

 Switch the ignition on again.

 Press button A immediately for a
few seconds.

 Switch off the ignition and remove
the remote control key from the igni-
tion lock. The remote control is now
working again.

Keys
Make a careful note of the number of each key. This number is coded on the
label attached to the key.
Remote control
The high frequency remote control is a sensitive system; do not o perate it
while it is in your pocket as there is a possibilit y that it may unlock the vehicle,
without you being aware of it.
Do not repeatedly press the buttons of your remote control out of range and
out of sight of your vehicle. You run the risk of stopp ing it from working and the
remote control would have to be reprogrammed.
The remote control does not operate when the key is in the ignition, even when
the ignition is switched off, except for reprogramm ing. Do not throw the remote control
batteries away, they contain metals
which are harmful to the environ-
ment.
Take them to an approved collection
point.
Locking the vehicle
Driving with the doors locked may make access to the passenger compart -
ment by the emergency services more diffi cult in an emergency.
As a safety precaution (with children on board), remove the key fro m the
ignition when you leave the vehicle, even for a short time.
Anti-theft protection
Do not make any modifi cations to the electronic engine immobi liser system,
this could cause malfunctions.
When purchasing a second-hand vehicle
Have the key codes memorised by a PEUGEOT dealer, to ensure that the
keys in your possession are the only ones which can start the vehicle .
Lost keys
Visit a PEUGEOT dealer with the vehicle's V5 registration certifi cate and
your personal identifi cation documents.
The PEUGEOT network will be able to retrieve the key code and the trans-
ponder code to order a replacement key.

IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine control system as
soon as the ignition has been switched
off and therefore prevents starting of
the vehicle by anyone who does not
have the key.
The ignition key has an electronic chip

WINDOW MECHANISMS
System which opens or closes a window
manually or automatically. Electric windows

 Press or pull the switch. The window
stops as soon as the switch is re-
leased.
One-touch electric windows
There are two methods of operation:
- manual mode

 Press or pull the switch gently.
The window stops as soon as the
switch is released.
- automatic mode

 Press or pull the switch fully. The
window opens or closes complete-
ly when the switch is released.

 Pressing the switch again stops
the movement of the window.
REAR QUARTER WINDOWS
On the 3-door versions, system for ven-
tilation of the rear seats limiting the par-
tial opening of the window.
Opening

 Tilt the lever outwards.

 Push the window to open it.
Closing

 Pull the lever to close the window.

 Tilt the lever fully inwards to secure
the window in the closed position.

1. Driver's electric window switch.

2. Passenger's electric window
switch.
The electric window switches re-
main operational for approximately
45 seconds after the ignition is
switched off or until a front door is
opened.

DOORS
Opening the doors from outside
Opening the doors from inside
"Door open" warning

With the engine running , you are
warned if a door is not shut properly by
an audible signal.

When the vehicle is moving , if the
courtesy light button is in the "lighting
on opening a door" position, the cour-
tesy light fl ashes, accompanied by an
audible signal. Locking/Unlocking from the inside Automatic central
locking of

Pressing button A permits locking/un-
locking of the doors. To switch on

Activation of the function is accompa-
nied by an audible signal.
To switch off
Press and hold button A .

Notes: if one of the doors is open, lock-
ing from the inside and automatic cen-
tral locking are not possible.
If the boot is open, automatic central
locking of the doors is active.
The doors can lock automatically when
you are driving (at a speed of more
than 6 mph (10 km/h)).
Above 6 mph (10 km/h), press button
A
briefl y to unlock the doors temporarily.
You can activate or deactivate this
function.

CHILD SAFETY LOCK
On each rear door this prevents open-
ing of the door from the inside.
Turn switch 1 an eighth turn (45 degrees)
towards the inside of the vehicle using
the ignition key.
Check that the safety lock is engaged
correctly. The switch 1 should no longer
be in the vertical position.
LOCKING/UNLOCKING
THE BOOT
Locking and unlocking of the boot is
simultaneous with the doors.
To open the boot, press the control A .

The lighting is controlled by opening
the boot. Tailgate release
System for mechanical unlocking of the
boot in the event of a central locking
malfunction.
Unlocking

 Fold back the rear seats to gain
access to the lock from inside the
boot.

 Pull the tailgate trim to detach it.

 Pull the opening control 1 upwards.

FUEL TANK
Reservoir which should be refi lled with
fuel, when the minimum level has been
detected.

Fuel tank capacity: approximately
50 litres. Filling
A label affi xed to the inside of the tank
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used depending on your engine.
To fi ll the tank in complete safety:

 it is imperative that the engine is
switched off,

 insert the key in the cap, then turn it
to the left,

 remove the cap,

 fi ll the tank, but do not continue
after the 3rd cut-off of the pump ;
this could cause malfunctions.
When you have fi lled the tank:

 put the cap back in place,

 turn the key to the right, then remove
it from the cap.

LIGHTS STALK
System for selecting and controlling the
various front and rear lights providing
the vehicle's lighting. Manual controls

Lighting
The various front and rear lights of the
vehicle are designed to improve the
driver's visibility in relation to the exte-
rior conditions:
- side lights, to be seen,
- dipped headlamps, to see without
dazzling other drivers,
- main beam headlamps, for good visibility when the road is clear,
- rear fog lamp, to be seen from a distance,
- front fog lamps, for even better visibility.
Programming
Various automatic lighting control
modes are also available according to
the following options:
- follow-me-home lighting,
- automatic lighting. Selection is by turning ring
A .
Automatic switching on of
lights Lights on reminder
With the ignition off and the automatic
lighting function switched off, when the
driver's door is opened, a buzzer sounds
if you have left your lights on.
Front fog lamps and rear fog
lamp
Rotate the ring forwards to switch on
and backwards to switch off. The status
is confi rmed by the indicator light on the
instrument panel.
Vehicles fi tted with a rear fog
lamp (ring B)
Dipped/Main beam change
Pull the stalk towards you. When the lights are switched off
automatically, the rear fog lamp
and the dipped headlamps re-
main on (turn the ring backwards
to switch off the rear fog lamp.
The dipped headlamps and side
lights then switch off).
This only operates with the dipped/main
beam headlamps.

"Follow me home" lighting
When you leave your vehicle, the side
lights and dipped headlamps can be left
on for approximately 30 seconds.
To do this:
- place the key in the STOP position,
- place the lights stalk in the 0 position,
- fl ash the headlamps,
- get out of the vehicle and lock it. Direction indicators
(fl ashers)

Left: downwards.

Right: upwards.
In good or rainy weather, both
day and night, the front fog
lamps and the rear fog lamp are
dazzling and are prohibited.
Do not forget to switch them off
when they are no longer needed.
Vehicles fi tted with front fog
lamps and a rear fog lamp
(ring C)
When the lights are switched off
automatically or when the dipped
headlamps are switched off manu-
ally, the front fog lamps, the rear
fog lamp and the side lights re-
main on (turn the ring backwards
to switch off the front fog lamps.
The side lights then switch off).
Front fog lamps (fi rst rotation of the ring
forwards)
To switch off the rear fog lamp and
the front fog lamps, turn the ring
backwards twice in succession.
The front fog lamps operate with the
side lights, the dipped headlamps and
the main beam headlamps.
Front and rear fog lamps (2nd rotation
of the ring forwards).
