''Isofix'' mountings*
Available on the one third side of the
rear seat, the Isofix mountings allow
fitting of a
special child seat,
approved for PEUGEOT vehicles
and sold within its network.
The locks incorporated in the child
seat fit onto the Isofix mountings and
ensure safe, reliable and fast assem
bly.
The special child seat approved by
PEUGEOT is the KIDDY Isofix seat.
It can be used in the rearwards
facing position from birth to 13 kg
and in the forwards facing position
from 9 to 18 kg.
In the forwards facing position, the
front seat must be in the interme

the seat back upright.
In this position, the combined use of
the Isofix mountings, the restraining

CHILD SEATS
Although one of PEUGEOT's main concerns when designing your vehicl e, the safety of your children also depends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow these precautions:
All children under the age of 10 must travel in a special ap proved child seat*, adapted to their weight, in a seat fitted with
a seat belt.
Front passenger seat*: children under the age of 10 must not travel in the forwards facing position**.
The rearwards facing position is permitted. In this position, it is compulsory to disarm the passenger air bag.
After carrying out numerous tests, PEUGEOT recommends the following systems:
Up to 18 months (up to 13 kg)
"Britax Babysure": installed with its back to the engine in the front or in the rear using a threepoint seat belt.
In the front, the passenger seat must be in the 'midway' position on the slide.
From 9 months to 3 or 4 years (9 to 18 kg) "Römer Prince": installed in the rear using a threepoint seat b elt.
For the safety of your child, the seat and the restraining cush ion must never be separated.
From 3 to 6 years (15 to 25 kg) "Römer Vario'': installed in the rear with a three point sea t belt.

Never leave a child or an
animal in a vehicle which
is exposed to the sun and
has the windows closed.
Never leave the keys within reach
of children inside the car.
Disarm the passenger air bag
when installing a rearwards–fac
ing child seat in the front.
The child would risk being killed or
seriously injured if the air bag
were to inflate.
Observe strictly the recommenda
tions for assembling or attaching
the child seat as shown in the
child seat instructions.
From 3 to 10 years (15 to 36 kg)
''Recaro start'': installed in the rear with a three–point seat belt.
The height and width of the seat back must be adjusted acco rding to the age
and build of your child.
"Klippan Optima": installed in the rear with a three–point seat belt.
From the age of 6 years (approximately 22 kg), the booster is used on its
own.
Remember, even for short journeys, to fasten the threepoint sea t belts or the
child seat straps, keeping the slack in relation to the child' s body to a minimum.
To prevent the doors from opening accidentally, use the child lock.
Also, do not open the rear windows more than a third.
* According to current legislation in the country of destination .
** Unless the rear seats are already occupied by other children or t he rear seats
cannot be used (because they are missing or folded down). In th is case,

To lock the seat belts
Pull the strap, then insert the buckle
into the stalk. Pretensioning and forcelimiting
front seat belts
Safety in the event of a frontal impact
has been improved by the introduc
tion of pretensioning and forcelimit
ing front seat belts. Depending on
the seriousness of the impact, the
pretensioning system instantly tight
ens the seat belt firmly against the
body of the occupant.
The pretensioning seat belts are
active when the ignition is on.
The forcelimiting device reduces the
pressure of the seat belt against the
occupant's body in the event of an
accident.
Rear seat belts
The three rear seats are all fitted with
threepoint inertia reel belts.
YOUR 406 IN DETAIL
121
To be effective, a seat
belt must be tightened as
close to the body as pos
sible.
Depending on the nature and the
seriousness of the impact, the
pretensioners may be triggered
before and independently of the
air bags.
In all cases, the air bag warning
light comes on.
Following a collision, have the
system checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
The system has been designed to
be fully operational for ten years.
Have it replaced after this period.
