Cruise control system *
To relieve the foot on the accelerator pedal
this system can hold any speed above about
35 km/h (20 mph) constant, so long as en
gine output permits.
Attention The cruise control system should not be used in dense traffic and poor road conditions (slippery surfaces, aquaplaning, gravel).
When system is switched on do not move into neutral without depressing the clutch pedal, otherwise the engine will race and can, under certain circumstances, become damaged.
•
The system is operated with the sliding
switch A and the press button B on the turn
signal lever.
The system
is switched on by moving
switch A to ON.
When the speed to be maintained has been
reached the press button B
(SET) must be pressed briefly The foot can then be taken off the accelerator pedal
The p
rogrammed speed can also be in
creased w ithout pressing the accelerator
p ed
al. The button B need only be pressed
u ntil the desired speed has been reached.
T he speed
can also be increased in the normal way with th e accelerator pedal. When
the pedal is then releas ed the previously
pro gra m m ed speed is resumed
The system is temporarily switched off when brake or clutch pedals are used or when speed IS cons ide rably below pro
grammed speed i.e. whe n driving up a
steep gradient
in too high a gea r.
To resume speed previo u sly programmed
when brake or clutch pedals are re leased or at end of gradient, push sWit ch A to the left (RES)
Attention The programmed speed must only be resumed when it is not too high for the existing traffic conditions.
The system is completely switched off by moving the switch A to the righ t (OFF) or
-when vehicle is stationary -by switching
the ignition off.

Heating and ventilation
The normal heating and ventilation system
described below can be supplemented by an automatic heating regulation (Thermotronic)*.
With the Thermotronic* the desired in
terior temperature is attained as quickl y as possib le and held co nstant. Outs ide and in
s id e temperat ure sensors measure the ex
isting temperatures continu ously and pass
the
value s to an e lec tron ic contr ol unit which then alter s the warm air tempera tur e
accordingly. Strong sunshine is also taken
into account by the system.
The "The
rmotronic" makes regulation of
th e heating by hand unneces sary.
Controls
Rotary switch A -Blower and air supply and air conditioner* cut-off
The air flow can be regulated in four stages.
Between positions 1 and 0 the fresh air sup
p ly can be regulated without blower assist
ance .
In position 0, air supp ly and blower are off.
Thi s can prevent unclean air from outside
from enteri ng the vehicle . However, as the
windows could th en mist ove r, th e a ir sup
ply shou ld on ly be switched off briefly.
Normal heating and ventilation
On vehic les with a fresh air filt
er* this is onl y
necessary for a gas type pollution . Du st,
pollen etc.
will be held back by the filter.
Rotary regulator B -Temperature

the side windows via vents 4.
Demisting windscreen and side
windows
When the w indows steam up due to high air
humidity, e.g. when it is raining , we recom
mend the follo wing settings:
• Rotary switch A to stage 2 or
3.
• Rotary regulator B, if necessary, clock
wise into heating range.
With the "Thermotr

set is controlled automatically .
• Rotary regulator C

(without "Thermotronic" * )
W hen the windows are clear and the de

•
Rotary switch A at stage 1 or 2.
• Rota ry regulator B at the desired heat

• Vent s 3 c losed .
• With vents 4 the des ired amount of war m air and the air flow direction can be
set.
Heating interior as quickly as
possible and comfortably
(with "Thermotronic " *)
When the windows are clea r, th e following
setting is recommended :
• Rotary switch A to s tage
2. • Rotar y reg ulator B to desired va lue on
scale. Approx.: 22 . tIj
• Upper lever to . . . ....
The system works most efficient ly in thi s
position, .
• Close vents 3 .
• With vents 4 the desired amount of
warm
air and the air flow direct ion can be set.
Ventilation (fresh air operation)
With the following settings, unheated fresh
air flows from vents 3 and 4:
• Rota ry
swit ch A to des ir ed stage.
• Rota ry regulator B anti- clockwise to the
stop
PW!l
• Upper lever to . . ~
• Ve nts 3 and 4 open.
If required, regulator C can be turned to
ano ther posit io n .
General notes
• To ensure that the heating and ventila
tion can work properly, the air inlet in fron t
o f the winds creen should be kept free of ice, snow a n d leaves .
• The heat output depen s on
the coo la nt
tem perat ure -the ful l h eat outp ut is therefore available when the engin e is warm.
• The stale air escape s th rough openings
in the luggage compartment side panels .
Therefore when loading th e lu gg age compartment ensure tha t the ope 11ngs a re not cove re d .
• A
ll contr ols exce pt the rota ry switch A
