Rear Seat Entertainment
(Audi tablet)
Introduction
Applies to: vehicles with Audi tablet
You can control available sources in the vehicle
(such as the radio) using the Audi tablet and lis-
ten to them through the vehicle speakers or
headphones. You can also display vehicle infor-
mation (such as the next oil change service). The
Audi tablet also has applications and functions
that are not related to the vehicle.
ZA WARNING
— As the driver, do not allow usage of the Audi
tablet to distract you from driving, as this
could increase the risk of an accident. For
example, do not reach behind you while
driving to operate the Audi tablet.
— Children in rear-facing child safety seats in
the rear: remove the Audi tablet from the
backrest on the front seat to reduce the risk
of
injury. Read the instructions in the chap-
ter > page 91.
— The Audi tablet can only be operated when
the vehicle is stationary or when it is secure-
ly positioned in the designated holder in the
vehicle. Like all loose objects, it could be
thrown through the vehicle and cause seri-
ous injuries in a collision. If the Audi tablet
is not in the designated holder, it must al-
ways be securely stowed while driving.
— Do not use any wireless devices on the front
seats within range of the airbags while driv-
ing. Also read the warnings in the chapter
=> page 86.
— The back of the Audi tablet can become hot
while charging. Pay attention to the housing
temperature, and be careful when removing
the Audi tablet from the holder.
@) Note
— Always follow the information found in >®
in General information on page 216.
— Protect the Audi tablet against prolonged
exposure to direct sunlight.
— Extremely high or low temperatures that
can occur inside vehicles may damage the
Audi tablet or impair its performance. Never
leave your Audi tablet in the vehicle in ex-
tremely high or low temperatures.
— Protect the Audi tablet from coming into
contact with any fluids.
G) Tips
— If the Audi tablet is used when the ignition
is switched off or outside of the range of the
MMI, then only the non-vehicle applications
and functions will be available.
— Vehicle settings are only possible through
the MMI.
— Please note that a Wi-Fi connection does
not automatically make it possible to use
the
Internet. For additional information,
see the chapter > page 216.
— The Audi tablet makes it possible to access
services from external providers. Permanent
availability cannot be guaranteed, because
that depends on the service provider.
— When playing online media sources, there
may be longer loading times or restrictions
on media playback, depending on the Inter-
net connection or the Wi-Fi usage (for ex-
ample, if there is intensive usage by multi-
ple devices on the hotspot, such as tablets
or laptops).
— The Audi tablet has an anti-theft protection
feature: it can only connect to the MMI of
the associated vehicle. Also, the Audi tablet
will be disabled if it has not been connected
to the MMI for longer than 30 days. To ena-
ble it again, connect the Audi tablet to the

MMI by securing it in the holder
=> page 30.
— When streaming media, the following situa-
tions may cause reduced data transfer rates,
interrupted connections, or restrictions:
—If there are multiple Wi-Fi hotspots or de-
vices connected to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
within range of the vehicle
— If multiple devices are connected to the
vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot and in use at the
same time
— The Audi tablet has been tested with many
of the products available on the market.
However, there may be cases where individ-
ual devices are not recognized, or where us-
age may be restricted or impossible.

Stowing and using
— Holders for a notepad and a pen in the glove
compartment
— Storage compartments in the door trim panel
— Net in the front passenger's footwell
— Storage compartments under the center arm-
rest
— Compartments on the backrests of the front
seats
— Garment hooks in the rear
— Cell phone holder in the right rear door
— Bag hooks in the luggage compartment
— Net in luggage compartment
— Umbrella holder
> Stow heavy luggage as far forward in the lug-
gage compartment as possible.
> Use non-elastic cords attached to the tie-downs
to secure objects.
ZA WARNING
— To reduce the risk of injury, make sure all
storage compartments are always closed
while driving.
— Loose objects can be thrown around the ve-
hicle interior during sudden driving or brak-
ing maneuvers, which increases the risk of
an accident. Store objects securely while
driving.
— Only use the storage compartments in the
door trim panels to store small objects that
will not stick out of the compartment and
impair the function of the side airbags.
— Only lightweight clothing should be hung
from the garment hooks in the vehicle. Do
not use clothes hangers to hang clothing.
The pockets of the clothing must not con-
tain any heavy, breakable, or sharp-edged
objects. This could impair the effectiveness
of the side curtain airbags.
— Make sure your view toward the rear is not
blocked, for example by hanging clothing or
objects in the vehicle.
Luggage compartment
General information
All pieces of luggage or objects must be securely
fastened in the luggage compartment. Note the
following to maintain good vehicle handling:
> Distribute the load evenly in the luggage com-
partment.
100
ZX WARNING
— Loose objects can be thrown around the ve-
hicle interior during sudden driving or brak-
ing maneuvers, which increases the risk of
an accident. Always stow objects securely in
the luggage compartment and secure them
at the tie-downs. Use straps suitable for
heavy objects.
— If pieces of luggage or objects are secured
to the tie-downs with unsuitable or dam-
aged straps, this can increase the risk of in-
jury during braking maneuvers or accidents.
— When transporting heavy objects, the vehi-
cle characteristics will change due to the
shift in the center of gravity, which increases
the risk of an accident. You may need to
adapt your driving style and speed to the
current conditions.
— The cargo net is only strong enough to se-
cure light objects. Heavy objects are not ade-
quately secured. Attempting to secure heavy
objects increases the risk of injury.
— Never exceed the permitted axle and load
and vehicle weight > page 342.
— Never secure a child safety seat to the tie-
downs.
— Never leave your vehicle unattended, espe-
cially if the luggage compartment lid is
open. Children could enter the luggage com-
partment and close the luggage compart-
ment lid from the inside. This creates the
risk of fatal injury, since the children would
be locked in and may not be able to escape
by themselves.
— Do not allow children to play in or on the ve-
hicle. Close and lock the luggage compart-
ment lid as well as all other doors when you
leave the vehicle.
— Never transport passengers in the luggage
compartment. Every passenger must be cor-
rectly secured with the safety belts in the
vehicle > page 82.

Z\ WARNING
— Medical experts warn that mobile devices
can interfere with the function of pacemak-
ers. Always maintain a minimum distance of
about 7.9 inches (20 cm) between the mo-
bile device antennas and the pacemaker.
— Do not carry the mobile device in a pocket
directly over the pacemaker when the
phone is switched on.
— Switch the mobile device off immediately
if you suspect it may be interfering with
the pacemaker.
— Do not use the voice recognition system*
= page 38 in emergencies because your
voice may change in stressful situations. The
system may take longer to dial the number
or may not be able to dial it at all. Dial the
emergency number manually.
— Switch your mobile device off in areas where
there is a risk of an explosion. These loca-
tions are not always clearly marked. This
may include gas stations, fuel and chemical
storage facilities or transport vehicles, or lo-
cations where fuel vapors (such as propane
or gasoline vapor in vehicles or buildings),
chemicals or large quantities of dust parti-
cles (such as flour, sawdust or metal) may
be present in the air. This also applies to all
other locations where you would normally
turn your vehicle engine off.
— The demands of traffic require your full at-
tention. Always read the chapter > page 20,
Traffic safety information.
