The adaptive lig ht is a dy namic corner ing
li ght. Wh en th e light is on, it fo llows th e
cur ve of t he road. It is depen dan t upon the ve­
hi cle spee d and the a ngle of the stee ring
whee l. The c urve is then bette r illuminated .
The system wor ks when the vehicle is moving
from 6 mph (10 km/) to 68 mph (110 km/h).
T he co rne ring ligh t will swi tch on automa ti­
ca lly a t a specif ic steering wheel angle. I t
wor ks up to an a pproximate speed of 44 mph
(70 km/h).
At approx im at ely 72 mph ( 115 km/h) t he ex­
p ressway light swi tches on, which better dis­
tributes the light and increases the light cone
range . The exp ressway light sw itches
off at
approximate ly 62 mph (100 km/h) .
Perimeter lighting in the mirror housing
Applies to vehicles: wit h lig ht pac kage
LEDs in the exterior mirror housing illuminate
the ground during entry .
This func tion ens ures that when unlocking ,
the vehicle pe riphe ry is illuminated in t he
dar k. LEDs in t he e xterior m irror housing are
switched on. The function cannot be turned
off separate ly.

Emergency flasher
The emergency flasher makes other motorists
aware that you or your vehicle are in an emer­
gency situation .

cally if you are in an accident where the airbag
has dep loyed .

You shou ld tu rn on the emergency flashe rs
when:
- you are the last vehicle st anding in a tr af­
fic jam so that any o ther veh icles coming
can see you, or when
- you r vehicle has broken down or yo u are
i n an emergency situation, or when
- you r vehicle is being towed by a tow
truc k or if yo u are tow ing a nothe r vehicle
behind you.
Turn signal and high beam lever
The lever on the left side of the steering col­
umn is used to operate the turn signals and
the high beam as well as the headlight flash­
er.

The turn signal and high beam lever has the
following functions:

Interior lights
Front interior lights
The interior lights include reading lights for
both the driver and the front passenger .

Reading lights ~

In the door contact swi tch position (switch @
in the m iddle position), the interior l ights tur n
o n as soon as you unlock the vehicle o r open
the doors . The inte rior lights are also turned
o n when the igni tion key is removed . The light
goes ou t about 30 seconds after the doo rs are
closed. When the veh icle is locked or when
the igni tion is turned on, the i nterior lights
are turned off .
When a door is open, the interior lights are
tu rned off after about 10 minutes to prevent
draining the battery.
T he brigh tness of the lights is cont rolled au­
tomat ic all y by a d imme r when they are
switched on and off.
Rear interior lights
There are reading ligh ts in the rear for the
passengers .

gage compartment light can be switched on
and off with the button'*' and used as a read­
ing light

The lights in the luggage compartment and in
the rear lid switch on and off automatically
when the lid is opened and closed.
@ Tips
If the rear lid remains open longer than 10
minutes, the luggage compartment lights
turn off automatically to prevent the vehi­ cle battery from discharging.
Ambience lighting
App lies to vehicles: with amb ience light ing
The ambience lighting con be adjusted in the
MMI.
• Select : I CARI function button> Systems*
control button > Ambience lighting. Or
• Select :
I CARI function button > Car systems*
control button > Vehicle settings > Interior
lighting .
When the vehicle is unlock ed, the standard
lighting turns on automatically and dims after
approx. 2 minutes, and when the ignition is
turned on it switches off immediately .
The following interior lighting is
controlled:
- Front footwell
- Rear footwell
- Front door panel
- Rear door panel
Vision
Sun visors
Using the sun visors makes driving safer.

Sun visors
The forward visor of the dual sun visor can be
pulled out of its bracket in the center of the
vehicle and swung towards the door. The sun
visor can be extended after it is swung to­
wards the door

Vanity mirror
The vanity mirrors on the sun visors are cov­ ered. When the cover is raised, the mirror
lighting switches on automatically.
It turns
off when the lid is closed or the visor is folded
up again.

Sun shade
Applies to vehicles: with sun shade
The windows in the rear doors and the rear
window ore each equipped with a sun shade .

Wiper and washer
system
Switching the windshield wipers on
The windshield wiper lever controls both the
windshield wipers and the washer system.

The windshield wiper l ever r=;-, fig. 65 has the
follow ing positions:
Acti vating rain sensor
~ Move the lever up to posit ion (!) .
~ Move switch @up or dow n to ad just the
sensitivity of the rain sensor.
L o w wiper speed
~ Move the lever up to posit ion @.
High w ipe r speed
~ Move the lever up to posit ion @.
One-touch wiping
~ Move the lever to position @ , when you
want to wipe the windshield
briefly .
Automat ic wiper /wa sher
~ Pull the lever to position ® (toward the
s t eer ing whee l) and hold.
~ Release the Lever . The washer stops and the
w ipers keep go ing for about four seconds.
Depending on how long the Lever is held ,
different numbers of wash cycles are per­
formed .

~ Move the lever back to position @ .

General information
The winds hield wipers and the w indshield
washer system operate only with the ignition
on.
During a temporary stop , e.g . at a t raff ic sig­
na l, the set wipe speed is automatically re­
duced by one stage.
The winds hield washer no zzles a re heated at
l ow temperatures when the ignition is on .
Removing w ate r droplet s
About 5 seconds after the wash cycle is com­
plete, the wiper system performs a single au ­
tomatic wipe cycle to remove any water drop­
l ets that remain on the windshield whi le dr iv ­
ing.
If you would like to deactivate this delayed
wipe cycle wh ile driving, you have to pull the
l eve r to pos ition ® again within 10 seconds
after this wipe cy cle.
Water droplet removal is reactivated after the
ignit ion is switched off and then on again .
Winter position
To speed up de -icing of the w indshield w ipers,
t hey move to the winter posi tion when the ig­
n ition is switched off and at an outside tem­
perature below 39
°F (4 °(). In this posit ion ,
the w indshield wipers are in an area on the
g lass w hich is reached by the a ir vents below
the glass. It is also easier to remove snow and
ice from the wi ndshield wipers in this posi­
tion .
The wipe rs leave the w inte r position, when
the ign ition is swi tc h ed on, if the winds hield
wiper lever is operated or the active rain sen­
sor reacts to moistu re.
Rain sensor
The rain senso r operates on ly in the inte rva l
wiper position . When it sta rts to ra in , the in­
terval wipe r mode is activated automati ca lly.
If the windshie ld w iper lever is in the inte rval
wipe posit ion w ith the ign ition switched off, the ra
in sensor is not activated until ve hicle
sp eed is above 4 mph (6 km/h).
T o red uce the sensi tivi ty of the rain senso r,
the switch @ mus t be moved down . T o in­
crease the sensitivity of the rain sensor, the
switch must be moved up.
T he higher the sensit iv ity se tt ing , the sooner
the windshie ld wipers react to moist ure on
the windshie ld . I nc reased sensitivity is sig­
naled by the windshie ld wipers making a sin­
gle pass over the windshield.
T he rain sensor w iper intervals depend on the
sensitivity setting as well as vehicle speed.
D uring brief stops, wiper motio n will adj ust in
relat ion to the amount o f rain on the w ind­
shield .
A WARNING
-W iper blades are crucial for safe driving!
O nl y when they are i n good co ndit io n are
they able to clear the windows prope rly
to p rov ide uncompromised vis ib ility.

- T he rain sen so r is only designed to assist
a nd suppor t the driver.
It rem ains enti re­
ly the d river 's responsibility to monitor
outside weathe r conditions and to man­
ually activate the wipe rs as soon as rain
or driz zle reduces visibility through the
windshie ld.
(D Note
In freezing or near freezing conditions:
- Always check that the w iper b lades are
not frozen to the g lass before you turn
the wipe rs on . Loosen a wiper blade
wh ich is frozen in place before operating
the wipers to prevent damage to the
w iper blade or the wiper motor.
- Do not use the w ipers to clear a frosted
w indow. Us ing the wipers as a conven­
ient ice scrape r will destroy the wiper
blades .

-Prior to using a car wash, the windshield
wiper system must be switched
off (lever
in position 0). This helps to prevent unin­
tentional switching on and damage to
the windshield wiper system .
@ Tips
-The windshield wipers are switched off
when the ignition is turned off. Activate
the windshield wipers after the ignition is switched back on by moving the wind­
shield wiper lever to any position.
- Worn or dirty windshield wiper blades
cause smearing which can affect the op­
eration of the rain sensor. Check the con­
dition of your windshield wiper blades
regularly.
- The rain sensor is part of the interval
wiping system. Turning
off the ignition
will also deactivate the rain sensor. To re­
activate the sensor, switch
off the inter­
val wiping function, then switch it back
on again.
- Make sure the washer fluid reservoir in
the engine compartment is topped
off
before going on a long trip. Look up
c:;, page 272 for checking and filling the
washer container.
Rear window wiper
The wiper lever is also used to operate the
rear window wiper and the automatic wiper/
washer function.

The rear window wiper and the automatic wip­
er/washer functions are activated as follows:

Intermittent wiping
.,. Push the wiper lever forward to the first po­
sition @

Automatic wiper/washer function
.,. Push the wiper lever forward to the second
stop,
position (J) , and hold it there for as
long as you want the rear wiper/washer to
operate.
.,. Release the lever again . the wiper will keep
running for approx. four seconds.
Switching intermittent wiper action off
.,. Pull the lever all the way back to the original
position.
As soon as the reverse gear is engaged and
the front wipers are turned on and operating
at the same time, the rear wiper also turns on
automatically.
A WARNING
Wiper blades are crucial for safe driving!
Only in good condition are they able to
clear the windows properly to provide un­ restricted visibility. Worn or frayed wiper
blades are a safety hazard!

Replacing windshield wiper blades

Headlight washer system

The headlight washer system cleans the
headlights .
.. Operate the windshield wiper/washer sys­
tem

lights turned on by holding the lever for lon ­
ger than one second .
The washer jets extend forward out of the
front bumper driven by water pressure to
spray the front headlights with water .
You shou ld inspect the headlights regularly
(for example when refueling) and clean off
any solid dirt or insects from the lenses .
To ensure the system works proper ly in winter,
keep the washer jets free of snow and remove
any ice using a de- ic ing spray.
Service position
The wiper blades can only be changed in the
service position.

Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the windshie ld w iper b lades when they
begin to leave st reaks .

.. Lift the wiper arm away from the rear win­
dow .
.. Use a soft cloth and glass cleane r to clean
the wi ndshield wipe r blades.

your view. This can lead to accidents.

shield, this cou ld be caused by residue left on
the windshie ld by automatic car washes .

special solution avai lab le at your authorized
Audi dealer to remove the resid ue.
A WARNING
For your safety, you shou ld rep lace the
wiper b lades once or twice a year. See your
authorized Audi dealer for replacement b lades.

when leaving the car parked close to other
vehicles.
Memory setting for the exterior mirrors*
When the seat position is saved in the memo­
ry, the position of the exterior mirrors is saved
at the same time

changed when the vehicle is in reverse gear
and the switch is in the ® position, this new
ti lted position wi ll be automatically saved to
the remote key when the vehicle is taken out
