Front passenger's seat
Always move the front passenger seat into the rearmost position .
To avoid contact with the airbag while it is de
ploying, do not sit any closer to the instru
ment panel than necessary and always wear
the three-point safety belt provided adjusted correctly . We recommend that you adjust the
passenger's seat in the following manner:
.. Bring the backrest up to an (almost) upright
pos it ion .
Do not ride with the seat reclined .
.. Adjust the head restraint so the upper edge
i s as even as possib le wit h the top of you r
head .
If that is not possib le, try to adjust
the head restraint so that it is as close to
this position as possible ¢

.. Place your feet on the floor in front of the
passenger's seat.

A WARNING
-Never adjust the driver's or front pas

If you do th is while the veh icle is moving,
you will be out of position. A lways adjust
the dr iver's or front passenger's seat
when the vehicle is not moving.
- Be ca reful when adj usting the seat
height. Check to see that no one is in the
way, or serious injury cou ld resu lt!
- Because the seats can be electrically ad
justed with the ignition off, never leave children unattended in the vehicle . Unsu
pervised use of the electric seat adjust
ments may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden braking or accident, front pas
sengers must never ride in a moving ve
hicle with the backrest reclined . Safety
be lts and the airbag system on ly offer
maximum protection w hen the backrest
is upr ight and the safety belts are prop
erly positioned on the body . The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the risk of persona l injury from an incorrect
seating position and improperly posi
tioned safety belts.

A WARNING

er's doo r is ope ned. This allows you to ..,_

enter and exit comfortably. The side bol
sters inflate again once you begin driv
ing.
Armrest
There is a storage compartment under the
armrest.

Adjusting the armrest
• To
move the armrest forward and up, press
the button -arrow- while pulling the armrest into the desired position.
• To bring the armrest back into its original
pos ition, press the button -arrow- while
pressing the armrest down .
Please note that the driver's arm movements
may be restricted with the armrest folded
down . For this reason, the armrest should not
be folded down when driving in c ity traffic.
Rear seats
General information
Safe transportation of passengers on the rear
seats requires proper safety precautions.
All passengers on the rear seats must be seat
ed in compliance w ith the safety guidelines
explained in
r=.> page 145 and ¢ page 153.
The correct seating position is critical for the
safety of front
and rear seat passengers alike

A WARNING
-Occupants in the front and rear seats
must always be properly restrained.
- Do not let anyone ride in the vehicle
without the head restraints provided.
Head restraints help to reduce injuries .
- Loose items inside the passenger com
partment can fly forward in a crash or
sudden maneuver and injure occupants.
Always store articles in the luggage com
partment and use the tie-down eyelets.
- Read and heed all WARNINGS

A WARNING
- The power adjustment for the individual seats also works with the ignition. For
this reason, children should never be left
unattended in the vehicle -they could be
injured!
- Exercise caution when adjusting the
seats . Unsupervised or careless seat ad
justment can pinch fingers or hands causing injuries.
- Vehicles with a pass through in the cen
ter console have seating for four. The

If a child seat is attached to one of the rear
seats, this seat must not be adjusted using
the power controls under any circumstan
ces. The easy entry function for this seat
must also be deactivated in the MMI
<=:> page 64. The child seat as well as the
rear seat can be damaged by the adjust
ment process.

The massage function switches off auto

- the front passenger's seat memory

Adjusting the display
@-Tilting the display forward/back : press
and hold the left/right button@ until the dis
play reaches the desired position .
You can fold the display forward so that you
have a clear view of the roadway . With the
seat in the reclining position, press and hold
the right button @ unti l the display is folded
forward. Make sure the driver has a clear v iew
of the exterior mirrors. If so, confirm the quest ion in the MMI with Yes. If you answer
No or do not respond to the question, the dis
play will return to the upright position.
Adjusting the front passenger's seat
(f)-Make sure that the front passenger's seat
adjustment is switched on in the Infotain ment system
c> page 64. Activate the front
passenger's seat adjustment with the button
(f) . You can now adjust the passenger's seat
forward/back and the backrest using the but
tons @) and @. With buttons @/@ , you can
adjust the passenger's seat to the reclin ing/
upright position. If you do not adjust the pas
senger's seat, the button
(f) will deactivate
automat ica lly after about 10 seconds.
_.& WARNING
Do not use the front passenger's seat for
seating when it is in the reclining position.
This increases the risk of serious injury or
death .
- Never adjust the reclining posit ion when
the front passenger's seat is occupied.
This increases the risk of injury.
- Do not t ilt the display if the driver's view
of the right exterior mirror will be ob
structed.
- Make sure the area between the leg sup
port and the front passenger's seat back
rest is clear befo re folding the leg sup
port in so that you are not pinched .

• To open the remote control compartment,
press the left button and fold the center
armrest upward.
• To adjust the massage type, press the ap
propriate button@-@ . The LED in the but
ton will turn on.
• To adjust the speed/intensity, turn the
thumbwheel @I® . Th e LEDs indicate the
speed/intensity.
• Press the selected massage type again to
switch the massage function off.

Comfort settings
Applies to vehicles: wit h comfort seats in the rear
You can adjust settings for the rear seat from
the cockpit using the MMI.
• Select !CARlfunction button> Car systems
control button > Vehicle settings > Seats >
Rear seats.
Factory settings position -
This function
moves the outer rear seats and the front pas
senger seatback into the factory settings posi
tion.
Entry assistance -Entry assistance makes it
easier to enter and exit the rear seat more
comfortably. When the function is activated,
the rear seat moves all the way back automat
ica lly when the corresponding door opens.
Front passenger seat adjustment* -If the
function is activated in the MMI, the front
passenger seat can be adjusted from the rear
seat¢

Adjusting the head restraints
Head restraints that are adjusted according
to body size, along with the safety belt, offer
effective protection.

Adjust the head restraint so the upper edge is
as even as possible with the top of your head.
If that is not possible, try to adjust the head

s ides of the passenger's head restraint with
both hands and slide it upward/downward.

- All seats are equipped with head re-
straints. Dr iving without head restraints
or with head restraints that are not prop
erly adjusted increases the risk of serious
or fatal neck injury dramatically.
- Read and heed all WARNINGS
o page 139, Proper adjustment of head
restraints.
- Vehicles with a pass through in the cen
ter conso le have seating for four. The
long center console between the two
rear seats is
not a seating position.
Therefore, a safety belt is not provided.
(D Tips
- T o prevent the head restraints from run
ning into the headliner, they retract au
tomatically when moving the seat for
ward or upward.
- Correctly adjusted head restraints and
safety belts are an extremely effective
combination of safety features.

Seat memory
Description
Applies to vehicles: wit h memory fu nctio n
The memory function allows you to quickly
and eas ily store and recall personal seating
p rofiles for the dr iver, front passenger and
outer rear seats*. The memory function is op
erated through the master key and the memo ry buttons in the driver's/front passenger's
doors and the rear doors*.
The driver's seating profi le is stored and as
signed to the master key each time the vehicle
is locked . The seating profile is recalled auto
matically when the vehicle is unlocked. If two

To assign the driver's seat settings to the re
mote contro l key when locking the vehicle, the
function must be switched on .

tings to be assigned to the remote control
key, switch off the memory function using

Two seating profiles can be stored in each of
the driver's/front passenger's doors and one
seat ing profile in each of the rear doors*.
Once stored, these seat ing profiles can be re
ca lled at any time.

115-volt socket

The 115-vo lt socket can only be used when
the engine is running¢
A. When you push
the connector all the way into the socket, the
child safety mechan ism releases and current
flows through the socket .
Equipm ent that can be conn ected
Electrical devices can be connected to the 115
volt socket in the veh icle. Power consumption
at the 115-volt socket must not exceed 150
watts (300 watts peak) . Check the power con·
sumpt ion of the equipment on the model
p late .
LED on th e socket
- The socket is ready for use when the L ED is
green.
- If the LED blin ks red, there is a ma lf u nction.
The socket wi ll swi tch off automa tica lly due
to overcu rrent or overheating. The socke t
will switch on again automatica lly after a
coo l-down period. Any devices that are con
nected and switched on will activate again
automatically

A WARNING
-
- The sockets and the electr ical accessories
connec ted to them operate only when
the ignition is switched on. Incorrect us
age can lead to ser ious injuries or burns.
To reduce the risk of injuries, neve r leave
chi ldren unattended in the veh icle with
the vehicle key .
- H eavy equipment or plugs with in tegrat
ed power s upply units can damage the
socket and lead to injur ies .
- Sto re a ll connected e quipment securely
while the veh icle is moving so that they
cannot be thrown through the veh icle in
the event of a braking maneuver or an
accident.
- Never sp ill any liquids on the socket . If
any mo isture gets into the socket, make
certain that all the moisture has dried up before using the socket again.
- Equipment that is connected to the vehi·
cle socket can heat up more than it does
when connected to the public gr id .
- When us ing adapters and extens ion
cords, the child safety for the 115-volt
socket is d isabled and the socket is live.
- Never insert anything other than the
p lug of an appropriate e lectr ical accesso·
ry in to the socket, especially th ings that
conduct e lectr icity, e.g . meta l pens, kn it
ting needles, etc. in to the cont acts of the
1 15-volt so cket.
- Turn the electrical equ ipment off if the
socket has switc hed off because of over·
heat ing.
