p a s s e n g e r s e a t . O t h e r w i s e , t h e
c h i l d w o u l d r i s k b e i n g k i l l e d o r s e -
r i o u s l y i n j u r e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e
t o i n fl a t e .
W i t h t h e i g n i t i o n s w i t c h e d o f f ,
insert the key into the passenger
air bag disarming switch 1 , turn
it to the "OFF" position, then re-
move the key keeping the slot in
this position. The air bag warning light
on the instrument panel is
lit throughout the period of
disarming.
In the "OFF" position, the passen-
ger air bag will not be triggered in the
event of an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the air bag slot to the "ON" po-
sition to re-activate the air bag and
thus ensure the safety of your pas-
senger in the event of an impact.
T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d b y a n i n d i -
cator light, accompanied by
a message on the display.
With the ignition on (2nd
notch), illumination of this warning
light indicates that the passenger air
bag is disarmed (switch in the "OFF"
position).
If the two air bag warning
lights are lit continuously, do
not install a rear-facing child
seat. Consult a CITROËN
dealer.

Note: the coolant does not need to
be changed.
For vehicles equipped with a parti-
c l e fi l t e r , t h e e n g i n e f a n m a y o p e r a t e
after the ignition has been switched
o f f , e v e n w h e n t h e e n g i n e i s c o l d .
There are two marks
on the dipstick:
A = m a x i m u m
N e v e r fi l l p a s t t h i s
mark.
B = m i n i m u m
To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
c o n t r o l s y s t e m s , t h e u s e
of additives in engine oil
is prohibited. Brake fluid level:

When the engine is warm, the tem-
p e r a t u r e o f t h e c o o l a n t i s c o n t r o l l e d
by the engine fan. As this fan can op-
erate with the ignition key removed
a n d b e c a u s e t h e c o o l i n g s y s t e m i s
p r e s s u r i s e d , w a i t f o r a t l e a s t o n e h o u r
after the engine has stopped before
c a r r y i n g o u t a n y w o r k .

- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e litres of diesel,
- s q u e e z e a n d r e l e a s e t h e m a n u a l r e - p r i m i n g p u m p , u n d e r t h e b o n n e t
u n d e r t h e p r o t e c t i v e c o v e r , u n t i l f u e l
appears in the transparent pipe,
- o p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r u n t i l t h e e n g i n e starts.
FUEL SUPPLY CUT-OFF (PETROL)
I n a s e r i o u s c o l l i s i o n , a m e c h a n i s m p r e -
v e n t s f u e l f r o m r e a c h i n g t h e e n g i n e .
T o r e - e s t a b l i s h t h e f u e l s u p p l y , p r e s s
the switch on the corner of the front

der the bonnet.
Air filter and passenger

Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style
o f d r i v i n g , i n p a r t i c u l a r f o r v e h i c l e s
w h i c h a r e u s e d i n t o w n , o v e r s h o r t
distances.
It may be necessary to check the
thickness of the pads, even between
services.

CHANGING A WHEEL
Parking the vehicle
- If possible, park the vehicle on level, s t a b l e a n d n o n - s l i p p e r y g r o u n d .
- Apply the handbrake, switch off t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t o r
reverse gear. R e m o v i n g a w h e e l
- Chock the rear of the wheel di-
agonally opposite the wheel to be
c h a n g e d , u s i n g t h e c h o c k 2 .
- R e m o v e t h e w h e e l t r i m u s i n g t h e wheelbrace 1 , b y p u l l i n g a t t h e
valve passage hole.
- Slacken the wheel bolts.
- P l a c e t h e j a c k u n d e r t h e l o c a t i n g p o i n t o n t h e s u b - f r a m e A that
is closest to the wheel to be
c h a n g e d . E n s u r e t h a t t h e e n t i r e
s u r f a c e o f t h e j a c k b a s e p l a t e i s
i n c o n t a c t w i t h t h e g r o u n d .
- E x t e n d t h e j a c k , c o m p l e t e l y u n - screw the bolts and remove the
wheel.
Access to the spare wheel and
the jack
T h e w h e e l i s l o c a t e d o u t s i d e t h e v e -
h i c l e , u n d e r t h e r e a r fl o o r , s u p p o r t e d
by a metal carrier.
- R e m o v e t h e j a c k a n d t h e w h e e l b r a c e 1 , s e c u r e d b e h i n d t h e d r i v e r ’ s
seat.
- R e m o v e t h e j a c k a n d t h e w h e e l b r a c e 1 s e c u r e d i n a n i n t e r i o r h o u s i n g
above the rear right wheel.
- Using the wheelbrace 1 , slacken the spare wheel carrier retaining bolt, located
on the inside near the closing system.
- Lift the carrier to release the hook rearwards, then lower it.
- Remove the chock 2 located in the spare wheel.

- with the handbrake applied,

- m a k i n g a b s o l u t e l y s u r e t h a t t h e o c c u p a n t s g e t o u t o f t h e v e h i c l e
and wait in a safe location.

Refitting the wheel
- After positioning the wheel, lightly
p r e - t i g h t e n t h e b o l t s u s i n g t h e
wheelbrace.
- C o m p r e s s t h e j a c k a n d r e l e a s e i t .
- F u l l y t i g h t e n t h e b o l t s u s i n g t h e wheelbrace.
- Replace the trim, starting at the valve passage hole, and press it
o n u s i n g t h e p a l m o f t h e h a n d . Replacing the wheel in the
carrier
- Replace the chock
2 in the wheel.
- Replace the wheel in the carrier.
- Lift the wheel then the carrier and reposition the hook.
- D o n o t f o r g e t t o f u l l y t i g h t e n t h e spare wheel carrier retaining bolt.
- Stow the wheelbrace 1 and the
j a c k .
After changing the wheel
- Have the tightening of the bolts a n d t h e p r e s s u r e o f t h e s p a r e t y r e
checked as soon as possible by a
CITROËN dealer.
- H a v e t h e p u n c t u r e d t y r e r e p a i r e d and replace it on the vehicle as
soon as possible.

presence of condensation on the
i n s i d e o f t h e h e a d l a m p g l a s s i s n o r -
m a l ; i t d i s a p p e a r s a f e w m i n u t e s a f t e r
the lights have been switched on.
