If  this  warning  lamp  comes  on  after Â

ain.
If
 one  of  the  starting  conditions  is  not

et,  a  reminder  message  appears  in t
he  instrument  panel  screen.  In  some c
ircumstances,  it  is  necessary  to  turn
 t
he  steering  wheel  slightly  while  pressing
 t
he  "START/STOP"  button  to  assist
 u
nlocking  of  the  steering;  a  message
 w
arns  you  when  this  is  needed.If
 the  electronic  key  is  not  detected  in Â
t
he  zone,  a  message  is  displayed.  Move Â
t
he  electronic  key  into  the  zone  so  that Â
t
he  engine  can  be  started.
The  presence  of  the  "Keyless  Entry  and Â
S
tarting"  system  electronic  key  in  the Â
r
ecognition  zone  is  essential.
For
 safety  reasons,  do  not  leave  this Â
z
one  with  the  vehicle  running.For Diesel vehicles
, in
temperatures  below  zero  the  e
ngine  will  not  start  until  the Â
p
reheater  warning  lamp  has Â
g
one  off.

Emergency starting
When the electronic key is in the recognition zone  and,  after  pressing  the  "START/STOP"

Electric parking brake
The electric parking brake has two operating modes:

tops,  release  is  automatic  on  use  of  the Â

ccelerator  (activated  by  default),

he  parking  brake  can  be  applied  / Â

If
 this  warning  lamp  comes  on  in Â
t
he  instrument  panel,  the  automatic Â
m
ode  is  deactivated.Programming the mode
Depending on  t he  c ountry  o f  s ale  o f  t he  v ehicle,  t
he  automatic  application  when  the  engine  is Â
s
witched  off  and  the  automatic  release  when Â
y
ou  press  the  accelerator  can  be  deactivated.
Activation
 /  deactivation  is  done Â
u
sing  the  vehicle  configuration Â
m
enu;  refer  to  the  section  covering Â
t
he  configuration  of  your  vehicle's Â
s
ystems.
The
 parking  brake  is  then  applied  and  released Â
m
anually.  When  the  driver's  door  is  opened, Â
t
here  is  an  audible  signal  and  a  message  is Â
d
isplayed  if  the  brake  is  not  applied. It
 is  recommended  that  you  do  not  a
pply  the  parking  brake  in  very  cold  c
onditions  (ice)  and  during  towing Â
(
breakdown,  caravan...).  Deactivate  the Â
a
utomatic  functions  and  release  the Â
par
king
 b
rake
 m
anually.
Do
 not  place  any  object  (packet  of Â
c
igarettes,  telephone...)  between  the Â
g
ear  lever  and  the  electric  parking Â
b
rake  control  lever.

The full application of the parking brake is c

If you pull control lever A without  pressing t

With the ignition on or the engine running, to release  the  parking  brake,  press on the brake
pedal or the accelerator, pull then release
control A . If
 necessary,  you  can  make  a  maximum
application
Â
of  the  parking  brake.  This  is Â
o
btained
 by m
eans
 o
f
 a long
pull
on the control
lever A ,  until  you  see  the  message  "Parking Â
b
rake  on  maximum"  and  a  beep  is  heard.
In  the  case  of  towing,  a  loaded  vehicle  or Â
p
arking  on  a  gradient,  make  a  maximum Â
a
pplication  of  the  parking  brake  then  turn  the Â
f
ront  wheels  towards  the  pavement  and  engage Â
a
 gear  when  you  park.
After
 a  maximum  application,  the  release  time Â
w
ill  be  longer.
Maximum application
Maximum application is essential:
- i n  the  case  of  a  vehicle  towing  a  caravan Â
o
r  a  trailer,  if  the  automatic  functions  are Â
a
ctivated  but  you  are  applying  the  parking Â
b
rake

anually,

In certain situations (e.g. starting the engine), the  parking  brake  can  automatically  alter  its Â

orce.  This  is  normal  operation.
To
 advance  your  vehicle  a  few  centimetres Â

ithout  starting  the  engine,  but  with  the  ignition Â

n,  press  on  the  brake  pedal  and  release  the Â

arking  brake  by pulling then releasing the

SituationsConsequences
To  apply  the  electric  parking  brake:

 application  is  slower  than  during  normal  operation.
