Hill start assist
System which keeps your vehicle immobilised temporarily  (approximately  2  seconds)  when Â

tarting  on  a  gradient,  the  time  it  takes  to Â

ove  your  foot  from  the  brake  pedal  to  the Â

This
 system  only  operates  when:
-

he  vehicle  is  completely  stationary,  with Â

our  foot  on  the  brake  pedal,
-

ertain  conditions  of  slope  are  met,
-

ith  the  driver’s  door  closed.
The
 hill  start  assist  system  cannot  be Â
d
eactivated.
On an ascending slope, with the vehicle
stationar y, the vehicle is held for a
momentarily when you release the brake pedal:
- provided  you  are  in  first  gear  or  neutral  on  a
 manual  gearbox,

rovided  you  are  in  position  A or M on an
electronic

arbox,

or M  on  an  automatic Â

earbox.
Operation
On a descending slope, with the vehicle
stationary and reverse gear engaged, the
vehicle is held momentarily when you
release the brake pedal.
Operating fault
If a fault in the system occurs, these warning lamps  come  on,  accompanied  by  an  alert Â

essage.  Contact  a  CITROËN  dealer  or Â
a
 qualified  workshop  to  have  the  system Â

he  style  of  driving,

For
 optimum  acceleration,  for  example Â

hen  overtaking  another  vehicle,  press Â

he  accelerator  pedal  firmly  past  the Â

oint  of  resistance.
Temporary control of gear
changing

The  gears  engaged  are  displayed  in Â
s
uccession  in  the  instrument  panel.
The
 gear  change  requests  are  only  acted  on  if Â
t
he  engine  speed  permits.
It is not necessary to release the accelerator
during
 gear  changes.
When
 braking  or  slowing  down,  the  gearbox Â
c
hanges  down  automatically  to  allow  the Â
v
ehicle  to  accelerate  in  the  correct  gear.
On
 sharp  acceleration,  the  gearbox  will  not Â
c
hange  up  unless  the  driver  acts  on  the Â
s
teering  mounted  paddles.
Manual mode
You can change mode at any time by moving the  selector  lever  from  A to M or the other way
round.

Engagement of reverse gear is accompanied b

At
 low  speed,  if  reverse  gear  is  requested, Â

he N indicator  flashes  and  the  gearbox  goes Â

nto  neutral  automatically.  To  engage  reverse, Â

ut the selector lever in position N , then
position R . Before
 switching  off  the  engine,  you  can:

Stopping the vehicle
In both cases, if automatic operation of the e
lectric  parking  brake  has  been  deactivated, Â

ou  must  apply the parking brake

by  pulling Â

he  control  lever.
When
 immobilising  the  vehicle,  with Â
t
he  engine  running,  you  must  place  the Â
s
elector lever in neutral N .
Before
 carrying  out  any  work  in  the Â
e
ngine  compartment,  ensure  that  the Â
s
elector lever is in neutral N  and  that Â
t
he  parking  brake  is  applied.
Whatever
 the  circumstances,  you  must Â
m
anually  apply  the  parking  brake  when Â
p
arking,  if  automatic  operation  has Â
b
een
 d
eactivated. With
 the  ignition  on,  the  flashing  of  A or
AUTO ,  accompanied  by  an  audible  signal  and Â
a
 message,  indicates  a  malfunction  of  the Â
g
earbox.

ffected  if  the  conditions  of  vehicle  speed  and Â

ngine  speed  allow;  other wise  the  automatic Â
l
aws  of  operation  are  imposed  temporarily.
If
 the  engine  speed  is  too  high  or  too  low, Â

he  display  of  the  gear  selected  flashes  for  a Â
f
ew  seconds,  then  the  new  gear  engaged  is Â
d
isplayed.It
