Unlocking in emergency
In the event of the electronic park-ing brake malfunctioning or the b a t t e r y r u n n i n g fl a t, an emer-gency manual device can unlock the electronic parking brake.1. Immobilise the vehicle, with the engine running, by engaging fi r s t g e a r ( m a n u a l g e a r b o x ) o r position P (automatic gearbox), then switch off the engine.Note: If it is impossible to immobi-lise the vehicle, do not action the unlocking control and urgently con-tact a CITROËN dealerunlocking control and urgently control .

This strap cannot apply the parking brake. The time for applying the brake subsequent to the emergency unlocking will be longer.
2. Fetch the vehicle block located in the boot.3. Immobilise the vehicle by placing the block in front of or behind one of the rear wheels.4. Open the lower compartment of the central armrest by pulling upwards.5. Ensure that the cup-holder B is Bfolded back.6. Remove the rubber mat covering the base of the armrest.7. Disengage the strap from its loca-tion C.8. Pull the strap to unlock the brake. A l o u d c l i c k c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e b r a k e i s unlocked.
Note: It is necessary to check that the parking brake warning lamp lights up on the instrument panel when the parking brake is applied.
Remark: Diagnostic socket in the armrest strengthener. Ensure that you do not allow any dusty or damp elements near the diagnos-tic socket D which is essential for the maintenance of your vehicle.

Parking brake
The parking brake is engaged, with the vehicle stationary, by pulling on the lever with a force appropriate to the slope.
To facilitate the action on the lever, you are recommended t o press the brake pedal at the same time.
I n a l l c i r c u m s t a n c e s , a s a p r e c a u t i o n a r y m e a s u r e , e n g a g e fi r s t g e a r .
On steep gradients, turn the steering towards the pavement.
To release the parking brake, press on the end of the lever wh ilst pulling it then lower it fully.
The warning lamp comes on if the parking brake is engaged or n ot fully released.
If the parking brake is released, the lighting of this warning lamp along with the STOP warn- i n g l a m p i n d i c a t e s a n i n s u f fi c i e n t l e v e l o f b r a k e fl u i d o r a m a l f u n c t i o n o f t h e b r a k i n g d i s t r i b u -tion.
It is essential to stop the vehicle.
Consult a CITROËN dealer as soon as possible.

The ESP system offers increased driving safety but is not in place to encourage the driver to take addi-tional risks or to drive at excessive speeds.
The functioning of this system is subject to compliance with the manufacturer’s recommendations on wheels (tyres and rims), brake parts and electronic components, as well as with the assembly and repair procedures approved by CITROËN.repair procedures repair procedures
After any collision, contact a CITROËN dealer.
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Traction Control (ASR)
These systems are closely associated with ABS and additional to it. In the event of a loss of control of the vehicle by the driver, the ESP system acts automatically on one or more wheels and also on the engine to bring the vehicle back on trajectory. The ASR system optimises traction and prevents wheel spin by acting on the brakes of the driving wheels as well as on the engine. It also improves steering stability during acceleration.
Operation
If either of the ESP or ASR systems is active, the warning lamp fl a s h e s .
Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (vehicle stuck in snow, soft ground, e tc.) it may prove useful to deactivate the ESP/ASR systems to allow the wheels to spin and thus regain traction.
Press on control A, the warning lamp and the light on control A light up. The ESP/ASR systems are no longer active.
The ERSP/ASR systems will activate again:Automatically after the ignition has been switched off.
Automatically when you drive at above approx. 50 km/h (approx. 30 mph).
Manually with another press on button A.
Operational anomaly
If there is a system fault, the warning lamp lights up, accompa nied by a message on the instrument panel screen, the lighting of the SERVICEwarning lamp and a beep.
Contact a CITROËN dealer to have the system checked.

This driving assistance device warns you when you unwittingly cross a lane marking (either a continuous or a dotted line on the road surface). It is designed for use on motorways and dual carriageways, operatin g only above speeds of approx. 80 km/h (50 mph).
Activation/Deactivation
A press on button A activates the function, the warning lamp on the button lights up.
A second press on button A deactivates the function, the warning lamp on the button goes out.
When you start the engine, the mode (activated/deactivated) selected when you stopped the engine is retained.
Operation
Above a speed of around 80 km/h (50 mph), if you cross a lane markin g, you are alerted to this by a vibration within the cushion of your seat:On the right hand side if you cross a lane marking to the right.On the left hand side if you cross a lane marking to the left.
The system does not alert you if one of your direction indicato rs is operating and for approx. 20 seconds after the direction indicator has stopped.
Remarks:

In certain cases it may trigger an alert that is unnecessary, for e xample if the vehicle passes over a directional arrow or some unusual road marking.

Activation/Deactivation
You can activate/deactivate the parking assistance by pressing button A. When the parking assist-ance is inactive, the warning lamp on button A is lit up.
Activation/deactivation of the park-ing assistance is memorised when you stop the vehicle.
Remark: If you are towing with a towing device not approvedby CITROËN, it is necessary to a towing device ing denot approved
deactivate parking assistance by pressing on button A. The warn-ing lamp on the button lights up.
Operation
When you engage reverse gear, a s o u n d s i g n a l c o n fi r m s t o y o u that the system is active. The out-line of your vehicle appears on the screen. Any obstacles located to the rear or to the front of the vehi-cle can be detected.
When going forward and at a speed below approx. 10 km/h (6 mph), whether in neutral or in gear, the outline of the vehicle appears on the display as soon as an obstacle is detected in front of the vehicle. Obstacles located in front of the vehicle will be detected.
Remarks:The proximity sensors cannot detect objects that are immedi-ately under or over the bump-ers.
A thin object such as a spike, a bollard or similar, can only be detected at the start of the manœuvre but not when the vehicle arrives close up to it.In poor weather or in winter, you need to ensure that the sensors are not covered with mud or with ice or snow.

Locking/unlocking from the inside
With the doors and the boot closed, pressing button A allows you to control the electric central locking and unlocking.
It is still possible to open the doors from the inside.
If one of the doors is open or not properly closed, central locking will not work.
The warning lamp associated with the control A signals 3 statuses: l t fl a s h e s w h e n t h e i g n i t i o n k e y is in the stop position or when the key is not detected and the doors are locked.
It lights up when the vehicle is locked with the ignition switched on.It goes out when the doors are not locked.Note: Control A is inactive if the vehicle has been locked using the remote control or the key.

A. Sunlight sensor.B. Soft air conditioning diffusion grille.The soft diffusion grille located in the centre of the dashboard provides an optimum air distribution for the front seats.
This device eliminates unpleasant air currents whilst maintainin g an optimum tempera-ture in the passenger compartment.
To open the soft air diffusion grille, move the control knob upwards.
To close the soft air diffusion grille, move the control knob all the way down.
In very hot weather, to improve the central and lateral venti lation, closing off the soft diffusion air conditioning is recommended.

You are advised to use the automatic air conditioning regulation. This automatically regulates the following f u n c t i o n s f o r m a x i m u m c o m f o r t : a i r fl o w , p a s s e n g e r compartment temperature, and air distribution, using different sensors (external temperature, sunlight). This avoids the need to alter any of the settings, with the exception of the temperature displayed.
Take care not to obstruct the sunlight sensor A.
Provided you retain automatic mode (by pressing button “AUTO”) and all the air vents are open, you will main-tain an optimum comfort level, also removing humidity and misting, whatever the ambient climatic conditions.
The temperature inside the cabin cannot be lower than the temperature outside if the air conditioning is not operating.
To be effective, the air conditioning should only be used with the windows closed. If after a lengthy stop in bright sunlight the interior temperature is excessive, air the passenger compartment by opening the windows for a few moments, then close them again.
To ensure the correct operation of the air conditioning system, it is essential to operate the air conditioning at least once a month.
The air conditioning operates by using power from the engine. This results in a slight increase in fuel con-sumption.
In certain extreme operating conditions (e.g. carrying a full load up a steep gradient in high temperatures), the switching off of the air conditioning allows more power to be transferred to the engine, thereby increasing the towing capacity.
Air inlet
Check that the exterior grille for the air inlet, at the bot-tom of the windscreen, is clean and free of dead leaves, snow, etc.
If washing the vehicle with a high pressure jet, avoid targeting the air inlet zone.
Air circulation
For your comfort we advise you to maintain a proper distribution of air within the cabin, both at the front and at the rear.
To obtain an even distribution of air, ensure that you do obstruct the external air inlet grille located at the base of the windscreen, the air vents, the air outlets on the fl o o r u n d e r n e a t h t h e f r o n t s e a t s , a n d t h e a i r e x t r a c t o r l o c a t e d b e h i n d t h e fl a p s i n t h e b o o t .
T h e f r o n t a n d r e a r a i r v e n t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h c o n t r o l k n o b s w h i c h a l l o w y o u t o c o n t r o l a n d d i r e c t t h e a i r fl o w . I t i s recommended to keep all the air vents open.

2. Temperature adjustment
Turn control 2 to change the temperature:Clockwise to increase the temperature.
Anti-clockwise to reduce the temperature.
The chosen temperature is displayed.
An adjustment around 21 will give you the optimum comfort level. However, depending on your preferences anywhere between 18 and 24 is quite usual.
Operating the air conditioning system on “AUTO” guar-antees good ventilation inside the cabin.Note: The value indicated on the display corresponds to a comfort level and not to a temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
Manual mode
One or more functions can be adjusted manually, while still retaining the other functions in automatic mode.
Press one of the buttons, except the temperature adjustment 2. The light A goes out.
Changing to manual mode may result in a decrease in comfort level (temperature, humidity, smell, misting) and is not advised for optimum comfort.
To return to “AUTO” mode, press button 1. Light Acomes on.
