When the knock sensor detects a knock in one of
the cylinders, it sends an input signal to the PCM. In
response, the PCM retards ignition timing for all cyl-
inders by a scheduled amount.

sensor needs a power source. This power source is
provided by the PCM. It is the same 8 volt power
supply that is used by the CKP and CMP sensors.
