HOT ENGINE COOLANT
The warning light switches on when the ignition key is turned to MAR, but it should switch off after a few seconds.
The warning light or symbol on the display lights up when the engine is overheated, on some versions, together with a
dedicated message on the display.
❒ In normal driving conditions: stop the car, switch off the engine and check that the fluid level in the reservoir is not
below the MIN mark. In this case, wait for the engine to cool down, then slowly and carefully open the cap, top up with
coolant and check that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks on the reservoir itself. Also check visually for any
fluid leaks. Should the warning light turn on again at the next start-up, contact a Fiat Dealership.
❒ if the vehicle is used under demanding conditions (e.g. towing trailers uphill or fully loaded): slow down and, if the
light stays on, stop the car. Stop for two or three minutes with the engine running and slightly accelerated to facilitate
better coolant circulation, then turn the engine off. Check that the coolant level is correct as described above.
IMPORTANT Over demanding routes, it is advisable to keep the engine running and slightly accelerated for a few minutes
before turning it off.
On certain versions the dedicated message is displayed.uu

“DUALDRIVE” ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAULT
When the key is turned to MAR, the warning light switches on but it should switch off after a few seconds.
If the warning light stays on, on some versions along with a dedicated message on the display, you may not have steering
assistance and the effort required to operate the steering wheel could be notably increased; steering is, however, possible.
In this case, contact a Fiat Dealership.
If the warning light switches on while driving (on some versions, together with a dedicated message on the display) you may
not have steering assistance. Although it will still be possible to steer the vehicle, the effort needed to operate the steering
wheel could be increased: contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT In some circumstances, factors independent of the electric power steering could cause the warning light on
the instrument panel to switch on. In this case, stop the car immediately (should it be in motion), stop the engine for about
20 seconds and then restart the engine. If the warning light stays on, contact a Fiat Dealership.
IMPORTANT After the battery is disconnected, the steering must be initialised. The warning light switches on to indicate
this. To carry out this procedure, simply turn the steering wheel all the way from one end to the other or drive in a straight
line for about a hundred metres.

REGULAR
INSPECTIONS
39) 22) 4)
Every 1,000 km or before long
journeys, check and, if necessary, top
up the following:
❒ engine coolant fluid level;
❒ brake fluid level;
❒ windscreen washer fluid level;
❒ tyre inflation pressure and condition;
❒ operation of lighting system
(headlights, direction indicators,
hazard warning lights, etc.);
❒ operation of the windscreen
wiper/washer system, position and
wear of the windscreen and rear
window wiper blades.
Every 3,000 km check and top up if
required: engine oil level.
You are advised to use PETRONAS
LUBRICANTS products, which have
been designed and produced
specifically for Fiat cars (see table
“Capacities” in the “Technical
specifications” section).
DEMANDING USE
OF THE CAR
If the vehicle is mainly used in one of
the following particularly harsh
conditions:
❒ trailer or caravan towing;
❒ dusty roads;
❒ short repeated distances (less than
7-8 km) and with external
temperatures below zero;
❒ engine often idling or driving long
distances at low speeds or long
periods of inactivity;
perform the following inspections more
frequently than shown on the
Scheduled Servicing Plan:
❒ check front disk brake pad
conditions and wear;
❒ Check cleanliness of bonnet and
luggage compartment locks,
cleanliness and lubrication of
linkage;❒ sight inspect the conditions of:
engine, gearbox, transmission,
pipes and hoses (exhaust -
fuel - brakes), rubber parts
(boots, sleeves, bushes, etc.);
❒ check battery charge and battery
fluid level (electrolyte);
❒ visually check the various drive belt
conditions;
❒ check and, if necessary, change
engine oil and replace oil filter;
❒ check pollen filter and replace it, if
required;
❒ check air cleaner and replace it, if
required.

ENGINE COOLANT
39) 22) 23)
The coolant level must be checked
when the engine is cold and must
range between the
MIN and MAX marks on the reservoir.
A 50-50 mixture of PARAFLU
UPand
distilled water gives freeze protection
up to –35°C.
When the vehicle is used in particularly
harsh weather conditions, we
recommend using a 60% mixture of
PARAFLU
UPand 40% of demineralised
water.
CHECKING LEVELS
ENGINE OIL
39) 22) 26) 4)
Check the engine oil level a few
minutes (about five) after the engine
has stopped, with the car parked on
level ground.
The oil level must be within the MIN
and MAX marks on the dipstick.
NOTE
The dipstick is integrated in the engine
oil cap for 0.9 TwinAir 60 HP*, 65 HP,
80 HP*, 85 HP and 105 HP versions.
❒ The range between the MIN and
MAX marks corresponds to about 1
litre of oil.
❒ If the level of the oil is close to or
below the MIN mark, add oil via the
filler fitting until the MAX mark is
reached.
❒ The oil level must never exceed the
MAX mark.
❒ The maximum engine oil
consumption is usually 400 grams
every 1000 km.
* For versions/markets, where provided
WINDSCREEN/REAR
WINDOW WASHER
FLUID
39) 22)
Use a mixture of water and
PETRONAS DURANCE
SC35 fluid, in the following
concentrations:
❒ 30% PETRONAS DURANCE
SC35 and 70% water in summer.
❒ 50% PETRONAS DURANCE
SC35 and 50% water in winter.
BRAKE FLUID 39) 22)
The fluid level in the reservoir must not
exceed the MAX mark.
IMPORTANT Brake fluid is
hygroscopic (i.e. it absorbs moisture).
For this reason, if the vehicle is mainly
used in areas with a high degree of
atmospheric humidity, the fluid should
be replaced at more frequent intervals
than specified in the
“Scheduled Servicing Plan”.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
208
1) KEYS - REMOTE CONTROL
Used batteries should be disposed of, as specified by law, in
the special containers, otherwise take them to a Fiat
Dealership, which will deal with their disposal.
2) CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM
The system uses R1234yf coolant, which is compatible with
the laws in force in the countries where the vehicle is sold.
When charging, only use the gas indicated on the plate in the
engine compartment. The use of other coolants affects the
efficiency and condition of the system. The lubricant used for
the compressor is also strictly linked to the refrigerant gas type,
refer to the Fiat Dealership.
3) SERVICING - CHECKING FLUID LEVELS
• Used engine oil and oil filters contain substances which are
harmful to the environment. To change the oil and filters, we
advise you to contact a Fiat Dealership.
• Used transmission fluid contains substances that are harmful
to the environment. It is advisable to have the oil changed by a
Fiat Dealership where it will be disposed of respecting the
environment and according to legal requirements.
•Batteries contain substances which are very dangerous for the
environment. It is advisable to contact a Fiat Dealership for
battery replacement.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
4) MAINTENANCE - BODYWORK
Detergents pollute the environment. Only wash your vehicle in
areas equipped to collect and treat wastewater from this type of
activity.
