WIPERS
WIPER PRECAUTIONS
Do not operate the wipers on a drywindshield. This could scratch the glass ordamage the wiper blades. Use thewindshield washers before wiping a drywindshield.
Fully defrost the windshield before youswitch the windshield wipers on.
Switch the windshield wipers off beforeentering a car wash.

Autowipers turns on and controls thespeed and frequency of the windshieldwipers.
AUTOWIPERS SETTINGS
1.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2.Press Vehicle Settings.
3.Press Wipers.
4.Switch Rain Sensing on or off.
Note:When you switch the feature off, thewipers do not operate based on the rainsensor. When you switch on the windshieldwipers to the intermittent wipe position withthe feature off, the wipers use the wipespeed set by the rotary control.

Note:Use intermittent wipe positions toadjust the rain sensor sensitivity.
When you select low sensitivity, the wipersoperate when the sensor detects a largeamount of water on the windshield.
When you select high sensitivity, the wipersoperate when the sensor detects a smallamount of water on the windshield.
CHECKING THE WIPER
BLADES
Improving Your Windshield WiperPerformance
Run the tip of your fingers over the edge ofthe blade to check for roughness.
REPLACING THE FRONT
WIPER BLADES
1.Pull the wiper blade and arm awayfrom the glass.
Note:Do not hold the wiper blade to lift thewiper arm.
2.Lift the wiper blade primary locking clip.
3.Press the wiper blade secondarylocking clip.
4.Remove the wiper blade.
Note:Make sure that the wiper arm doesnot spring back against the glass when thewiper blade is not attached.
5.To install, reverse the removalprocedure.
Note:Make sure that the wiper blade locksinto place.

WASHERS
WASHER PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: If you operate yourvehicle in temperatures below 41°F(5°C), use washer fluid with antifreezeprotection. Failure to use washer fluidwith antifreeze protection in coldweather could result in impairedwindshield vision and increase the riskof injury or accident.
Do not operate the washers when thewasher reservoir is empty. This could causethe washer pump to overheat.
Keep the outside of the windshield clean.The rain sensor is very sensitive and thewipers may operate if dirt, mist or insectshit the windshield.
USING THE WINDSHIELD WASHER
Press and hold the button at theend of the lever to operate thewindshield washer.
Note:A courtesy wipe occurs a short timeafter the wipers stop to clear any remainingwasher fluid when switched on. SeeSwitching the Courtesy Wipe On and Off(page 145).

You can use zone lighting when yourvehicle is on or off. When it is off, thelighting turns off after a certain period oftime.
You can also use individual zone controlsto switch on each zone.
Note:Make sure to remove exterior lightingcovers when using zone lighting.
Note:When your vehicle is off and the timerhas one minute remaining, the directionindicators flash six times.
Note:Indicators on the touchscreenilluminate when the lights outside of thezone lighting control are on.
Note:You can remotely control the zonelighting using the FordPass app.
Note:Vehicles without spot lamps onlyhave two zones.
EXTERIOR ZONE LIGHTINGSETTINGS
1.Press Features on the touchscreen.
2.Press Zone Lighting.
3.Press the settings menu in the upperright-hand corner.
4.Press a setting.
Enable Autolamp Override
This setting allows your vehicle to overridethe autolamps when using zone lighting.
When you access zone lighting for the firsttime, you can choose this setting. You canchange this setting at any time.
Include Reverse Lamps
This setting turns the reverse lamps onwhen you switch the rear lighting zone on.
Switch this setting off if you have a backupalarm installed to prevent the reverselamps from turning on and sounding thealarm when using zone lighting.
AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM
CONTROL
HOW DOES AUTOMATIC HIGHBEAM CONTROL WORK
Automatic high beam control turns thehigh beams on if it is dark enough and noother traffic is present. If it detects anapproaching vehicle’s headlamps or taillamps, or street lighting ahead, the systemturns the high beams off.
A camera sensor, centrally mountedbehind the windshield of your vehicle,continuously monitors conditions to turnthe high beams on and off.

WHAT IS THE AUTO-DIMMINGINTERIOR MIRROR
The mirror dims to reduce the effect ofbright light from behind. It returns tonormal when the bright light from behindis no longer present or if you shift intoreverse (R).
AUTO-DIMMING INTERIORMIRROR LIMITATIONS
Do not block the sensors on the front andback of the mirror.
Note:A rear center passenger or raised rearcenter head restraint could prevent lightfrom reaching the sensor.

MASSAGE SEAT LIMITATIONS
The vehicle must be running or be inaccessory mode to activate the seats.
The passenger side massage is availableif the occupant meets the seat sensorweight requirements.
Allow a few seconds for any selection toactivate. Selecting a different adjustmentcancels the current one in progress. Whenthe seat backrest and cushion are bothactive, the massage alternates betweenzones.

WHAT IS THE POWER OUTLET
The power outlet can power devices thatrequire up to the rating on the outlet cover.
Note:The total power delivered is dividedif more than one outlet is used.

WARNING: Do not use anextension cord or connect multipledevices to the power outlet. Doing socould result in overloading the poweroutlet. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in fire, personal injury orproperty damage.
WARNING: Do not keep electricaldevices plugged into the power outletwhenever the device is not in use. Theoutlet provides power when the vehicleis on. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in personal injury.
POWER OUTLET LIMITATIONS
You should not use the power outlet forthese types of electric devices:
•Cathode ray tube type televisions.
•Motor loads, such as vacuum cleaners,electric saws or other electric powertools and compressor-drivenrefrigerators.
•Measuring devices which processprecise data, such as medicalequipment or measuring equipment.
•Other appliances requiring anextremely stable power supply, suchas microcomputer-controlled electricblankets or touch sensor lamps.
Note:Some devices may exceed the powerrating on the device label when they areinitially plugged-in and may require you topress the device power button more thanone time in order to allow a soft start. Aftermultiple attempts, if the device remains off,please consider that your device may requiremore than the available power.
Note:The power outlet provides fullavailable power when the vehicle is in park(P). Power availability may be reducedwhen the vehicle is in drive (D). If more thanone outlet is available in the vehicle, poweris divided between the outlets that are inuse at the same time.

HOW DOES AUTOMATIC RETURNTO PARK (P) WORK
Your vehicle shifts into park (P) when yourvehicle is stationary and any of thefollowing occur:
•You switch the vehicle off.
•You open the driver door with yourseatbelt unlatched.
•You unlatch the driver seatbelt whenthe driver door is open.
Note:Do not use automatic return to park(P) when your vehicle is moving, except inan emergency. See Starting and Stoppingthe Engine (page 233).
AUTOMATIC RETURN TO PARK(P) LIMITATIONS
Automatic return to park (P) may not workif the door ajar sensor or seatbelt sensorare malfunctioning.
See an authorized dealer if any of thefollowing occur:
•Seatbelt indicator illuminates or tonesounds with the seatbelt fastened.
•Door ajar indicator does not illuminatewith the driver door open.
•Door ajar indicator illuminates with thedriver door closed.
•Transmission not in park messageappears with the driver door closed,after you shift out of park (P).
STOWING THE SELECTOR
LEVER - EXCLUDING: RAPTOR
Press the stow button to fold down theselector lever. Press the button again torelease the selector lever from the stowposition to use.
The stow function allows the shifter to layflat in the console, enabling the use of theworking surface tray.
Note:Do not store objects in the selectorlever stow bin, and be sure that the bottomselector lever tray mat is flat inside theselector lever stow bin.
Note:If there are objects in the stow binwhile stowing the selector lever, the selectorlever could come back to the upright park(P) position.

HOW DOES FOUR-WHEEL
DRIVE WORK - EXCLUDING:
RAPTOR
Using the Electronic Shift On theFly System (If Equipped)
This four-wheel drive system utilizes a2-speed Electronic Shift On the Fly (ESOF)transfer case which is also known as apart-time system. This system offers thedriver two-wheel drive high, four-wheeldrive high, and four-wheel drive low asavailable modes of operation. When eitherfour-wheel drive high or four-wheel drivelow are selected, the system providesmechanically locked four-wheel drivepower to both the front and rear wheelsfor use in off-road or slippery conditionssuch as deep snow, sand or mud. Selectingfour-wheel drive low also providesadditional gearing for increased torquemultiplication for conditions like deepsand, steep slopes, or pulling heavyobjects. Additionally, the system is capableof recreational flat towing by putting thetransfer case into neutral (N). SeeRecreationally Towing Your Vehicle(page 485).

WHAT IS REVERSE BRAKING
ASSIST
Reverse braking assist is designed toreduce impact damage or assist in avoidinga collision while in reverse (R). Usingsensors on the rear of the vehicle, it candetect a possible collision and apply thebrakes. If full braking occurs, the systemattempts to stop the vehicle a safedistance from the obstacle.
HOW DOES REVERSE
BRAKING ASSIST WORK
Reverse braking assist functions when inreverse (R) and traveling at a speed of1–7 mph (2–12 km/h).
If the system detects an obstacle behindyour vehicle, it provides a warning throughthe rear parking aid or cross traffic alertsystem.

WARNING: You are responsible forcontrolling your vehicle at all times. Thesystem is designed to be an aid and doesnot relieve you of your responsibility todrive with due care and attention. Failureto follow this instruction could result inthe loss of control of your vehicle,personal injury or death.
WARNING: To help avoid personalinjury, always use caution when inreverse (R) and when using the sensingsystem.
WARNING: The system may notoperate properly during severe weatherconditions, for example snow, ice, heavyrain and spray. Always drive with duecare and attention. Failure to take caremay result in a crash.
WARNING: Traffic control systems,fluorescent lamps, inclement weather,air brakes, external motors and fans mayaffect the correct operation of thesensing system. This may cause reducedperformance or false alerts.
WARNING: Some situations andobjects prevent hazard detection. Forexample low or direct sunlight, inclementweather, unconventional vehicle types,and pedestrians. Apply the brakes whennecessary. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in the loss ofcontrol of your vehicle, personal injury ordeath.
WARNING: Do not use the systemwith accessories that extend beyond thefront or rear of your vehicle, for examplea trailer hitch or bike rack. The system isnot able to make corrections for theadditional length of the accessories.
The system only applies the brakes for ashort period of time when an event occurs.Act as soon as you notice the brakes applyto remain in control of the vehicle. If youdo not intervene the vehicle may start tomove again.
Note:Certain add-on devices around thebumper or fascia may create false alerts.For example, large trailer hitches, bicycle orsurfboard racks, license plate brackets,bumper covers or any other device that mayblock the normal detection zone of thesystem. Remove the add-on device toprevent false alerts.
