1.Remove the rubber covering (A) fromthe cupholder. Place the firstprogrammed key in the backup slot (B)at the bottom of the cupholder, thenpress the push button ignition switch.
2.Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
3.Remove the intelligent access key.
4.Within 10 seconds, place a secondprogrammed intelligent access key inthe backup slot. Press the push buttonignition switch.
5.Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
6.Remove the intelligent access key.
7.Place the unprogrammed intelligentaccess key in the backup slot and pressthe push button ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Verify theremote control functions operate and yourvehicle starts with the new intelligentaccess key.
If programming was not successful, wait10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7.If you are still unsuccessful, take yourvehicle to your authorized dealer.
ANTI-THEFT ALARM (IF EQUIPPED)
The system will warn you of anunauthorized entry to your vehicle.
It will be triggered if any door, the luggagecompartment or the hood is openedwithout using the key or remote control.
The direction indicators will flash and thehorn will sound if unauthorized entry isattempted while the alarm is armed.
Take all remote controls to an authorizeddealer if there is a potential alarm problemwith your vehicle.
Arming the Alarm
The alarm is ready to arm when there isnot a key in your vehicle.
Electronically lock your vehicle to arm thealarm.
Disarming the Alarm
Disarm the alarm by any of the followingactions:
•Unlock the doors or luggagecompartment with the remote control.
•Switch your vehicle on or start yourvehicle.
•Use a key in the driver door to unlockyour vehicle, then switch your vehicleon within 12 seconds.
Note:Pressing the panic button on theremote control will stop the horn and signalindicators, but will not disarm the system.

Opening the Windows
You can open the windows for a short timeafter you unlock your vehicle with theremote control. After you unlock yourvehicle, press and hold the remote controlunlock button to open the windows.Release the button once movement starts.Press the lock or unlock button to stopmovement.

Power Exterior Mirrors
WARNING: Do not adjust themirrors when your vehicle is moving. Thiscould result in the loss of control of yourvehicle, serious personal injury or death.

To adjust a mirror:
1.Select the mirror you want to adjust.The control will illuminate.
2.Adjust the position of the mirror.
3.Press the mirror switch again.
Fold-Away Exterior Mirrors
Push the mirror toward the door windowglass. Make sure that you fully engage themirror in its support when returning it to itsoriginal position.
Heated Exterior Mirrors (If Equipped)
See Heated Rear Window (page 131).
Memory Mirrors (If Equipped)
You can save and recall the mirrorpositions through the memory function.See Power Seats (page 136).
Signal Indicator Mirrors (If Equipped)
The outer portion of the appropriate mirrorhousing will blink when you switch on theturn signal.
Projection Lights (If Equipped)
The lights are on the bottom of the mirrorhousings. See Welcome Lighting (page83).
Integrated Blind Spot Mirrors (If
Equipped)
WARNING: Objects in the mirrorare closer than they appear.
Blind spot mirrors have an integratedconvex mirror built into the upper outboardcorner of the exterior mirrors. They canincrease your visibility along the side ofyour vehicle.
Check the main mirror first before a lanechange, then check the blind spot mirror.If the blind spot mirror does not show anyvehicles in its viewing area and the trafficin the adjacent lane is at a safe distance,signal that you intend to change lanes.Glance over your shoulder to verify trafficis clear and carefully change lanes.

WHAT IS REMOTE START
The system allows you to remotely startyour vehicle and therefore to heat or coolthe interior to a predeterminedtemperature.
REMOTE START LIMITATIONS
Remote start does not work under thefollowing conditions:
•The alarm horn is sounding.
•The hood is open.
•The transmission is not in park (P).
•The ignition is on.
•The battery voltage is below theminimum operating voltage.
Note:Do not use remote start if your fuellevel is low.
ENABLING REMOTE START
1.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2.Press Vehicle.
3.Press Remote Start Setup.
4.Switch Remote Start on or off.
Note:To remote start with FordPass, makesure that the modem is enabled. SeeConnecting FordPass to the Modem(page 368).
REMOTELY STARTING THE
ENGINE
WARNING: Do not start the enginein a closed garage or in other enclosedareas. Exhaust fumes are toxic. Alwaysopen the garage door before you startthe engine. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death.
To start the engine, do the following:
Press the button on the remotecontrol.
Within three seconds, press thebutton on the remote control.
Within three seconds, press thebutton again.
Note:You can also use the FordPass appto start the engine.
Note:The turn signals flash twice.
Note:The parking lamps turn on when theengine is running.
Note:The horn sounds if the system failsto start.
Note:All other vehicle systems remain offwhen you have remotely started the engine.
Note:The vehicle remains secured whenyou have remotely started the engine. Avalid key must be inside your vehicle toswitch the ignition on and drive your vehicle.
EXTENDING THE REMOTE
START DURATION
To extend the engine running durationduring remote start, do the following:
Press the button on the remotecontrol.

5.Switch Auto on or off.
Note:If you switch the auto mode on, thesystem attempts to heat or cool the interiorto 72°F (22°C).
Note:When you switch the ignition on, theclimate control system returns to the lastused settings.
Note:The heated windshield, heated rearwindow, heated mirrors, heated seats andheated steering wheel could turn on in coldweather.
SWITCHING CLIMATE CONTROLLAST SETTINGS ON AND OFF
1.Using the information display controlson the steering wheel, select Settings.
2.Select Vehicle.

5.Switch Last Settings on or off.
Note:If you switch the last settings on, thesystem remembers the last used settings.

1.Using the information display controlson the steering wheel, select Settings.

4.Select Front Seats & Wheel.

Note:If you switch the heated steeringwheel settings on, the heated steering wheelturns on during cold weather.
Note:You cannot adjust the heatedsteering wheel settings when you haveremotely started the engine.
SETTING THE REMOTE STARTDURATION
You can set a duration for the vehicle torun.
Note:Wait a few seconds before remotelystarting the engine after the engine stopsrunning.

The system does not function if:
•The key frequencies are jammed.
•The key battery has no charge.
If you are unable to start the engine, do thefollowing:
1.Remove the rubber covering (A) in thecupholder.
2.Place the remote in the backup slot (B)with the buttons facing up and thekeyring toward the front of the vehicle.
3.With the key in this position, press thebrake pedal (automatic transmission)or clutch pedal (manual transmission),then the START button to switch theignition on and start your vehicle.
Fast Restart
The fast restart feature allows you torestart the engine within 20 seconds ofswitching it off, even if a valid key is notpresent.
Within 20 seconds of switching the engineoff, press the brake pedal (automatictransmission) or clutch pedal (manualtransmission) and press the button. After20 seconds have expired, you can nolonger restart the engine without the keypresent inside your vehicle.
Once the engine has started, it remainsrunning until you press the button, even ifthe system does not detect a valid key. Ifyou open and close a door while the engineis running, the system searches for a validkey. You cannot restart the engine if thesystem does not detect a valid key within20 seconds.
Failure to Start
If you cannot start the engine after threeattempts, wait 10 seconds and follow thisprocedure:
1.If your vehicle has an automatictransmission, fully press the brakepedal. If your vehicle has a manualtransmission, fully press the clutchpedal and apply the handbrake.
2.Move the transmission selector leverto park (P) (automatic transmission)or neutral (N) (manual transmission).
3.Fully press the accelerator pedal andhold it there.
4.Attempt to start your vehicle and waituntil the engine stops cranking.
5.Release the accelerator pedal.
6.Start the engine.
Automatic Engine Shutdown
Your vehicle has a feature thatautomatically shuts down the engine if ithas been idling for an extended period. Theignition also turns off in order to savebattery power. Before the engine shutsdown, a message appears in theinformation display showing a timercounting down from 30 seconds. If you donot intervene within 30 seconds, the engineshuts down. Another message appears inthe information display to inform you thatthe engine has shut down in order to savefuel. Start your vehicle as you normally do.
