When weather temperaturechanges occur, tire inflationpressures also change. A 10°F(6°C) temperature drop cancause a corresponding drop of 1psi (7 kPa) in inflation pressure.Check your tire pressuresfrequently and adjust them to theproper pressure which can befound on the Safety ComplianceCertification Label or Tire Label.
Checking Pressure when tiresare hot:
If pressures are checked after tireshave been driven for more thanthree minutes or more than 1 mile,(2 km) the tires become hot andthe pressures will increase byapproximately 4 psi (27.6 kPa).Therefore when the tire pressure
is adjusted under these conditions,it should be increased to a gaugereading of 4 psi (27.6 kPa) greaterthan the recommended coldinflation pressure.

This type of tire utilizes steel cordsin the sidewalls. As such, theycannot be treated like normal lighttruck tires. Tire service, includingadjusting tire pressure, must beperformed by personnel trained,supervised and equippedaccording to Federal OccupationalSafety and Health Administrationregulations. For example, during
any procedure involving tireinflation, the technician orindividual must utilize a remoteinflation device, and ensure thatall persons are clear of thetrajectory area.
WARNING: Always inflatesteel carcass tires with a remoteair fill with the person inflatingstanding at a minimum of 12 ft(3.66 m) away from the wheeland tire assembly.

WARNING: Do not spin thewheels at over 34 mph(55 km/h). The tires may fail andinjure a passenger or bystander.
HIGH SPEED DRIVING CAN BEDANGEROUS
Correct inflation pressure isespecially important. However, athigh speeds, even with the correctinflation pressure, a road hazardfor example is more difficult toavoid and if contact is made, hasa greater chance of causing tiredamage than at a lower speed.Moreover, driving at high speedreduces the reaction timeavailable to avoid accidents andbring your vehicle to a safe stop.
If you see any damage to a tire orwheel, replace it with the spare atonce and visit a participating TireRetailer.
Exceeding the maximum speedsshown on the following page foreach type of tire will cause the tireto build up excessive heat whichcan cause tire damage that couldresult in sudden tire destructionand rapid air loss. Failure tocontrol a vehicle when one ormore tires experience a sudden airloss can lead to an accident.
In any case, you should notexceed reasonable speeds asindicated by the legal limitsand driving conditions.
DO NOT OVERLOAD: DRIVINGON ANY OVERLOADED TIRE ISDANGEROUS
The maximum load rating of yourtires is molded on the tire sidewall.Do not exceed this rating. Followthe loading instructions of themanufacturer of your vehicle andthis will ensure that your tires arenot overloaded. Tires which areloaded beyond their maximumallowable loads for the particularapplication will build up excessiveheat that may result in sudden tiredestruction. Do not exceed thegross axle weight rating for anyaxle on your vehicle.
TIRE ALTERATIONS
Do not make or allow to be made
any alterations on your tires.Alterations may prevent properperformance, leading to tiredamage which can result in anaccident. Tires which becomeunserviceable due to alterationssuch as truing, whitewall inlays,addition of balancing or sealantliquids, or the use of tire dressingcontaining petroleum distillatesare excluded from warrantycoverage.

12.Turn the ignition off. If two short hornbeeps are heard, the reset procedurewas unsuccessful and you mustrepeat it. If after repeating theprocedure and two short beeps areheard when the ignition is turned tooff, contact your authorized dealer assoon as possible.
13.Set all six tires to the recommendedair pressure as indicated on theSafety Compliance CertificationLabel, affixed to either the door hingepillar, door-latch post, or the dooredge that meets the door-latch post,next to the driver seating position ortire label located on the B-pillar orthe edge of the driver door.
Trailer Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem (If Equipped)
Note:Additional equipment may berequired for your vehicle to support trailertire pressure and temperature monitoring.See your authorized dealer for moreinformation.
Note:The trailer tire pressure monitoringsystem is not a substitute for proper tiremaintenance. It is your responsibility tomaintain correct tire pressures at all times.
Note:Replace the screw and valve on thetrailer tire pressure sensor anytime the trailertire is repaired, replaced or in for service. Seeyour authorized dealer for details.
The trailer tire pressure monitoring systemis an added safety feature that allows youto view your trailer tire pressures andtemperatures through the instrumentcluster display. See Tire PressureMonitoring System – InformationMessages (page 508). Tire pressuresensors are mounted into each tire on yourtrailer. The sensors send a message to yourvehicle indicating the current trailer tirepressure and temperature.
If the trailer tire pressure monitoringsystem detects that a tire is low, a warningmessage appears in the instrument clusterdisplay. The trailer tire information screenin the instrument cluster display highlightsthe tire with a low pressure.
If the trailer tire pressure monitoringsystem detects that a tire temperature isover temp, a warning message appears inthe instrument cluster display. The trailertire information screen in the instrumentcluster display highlights the tire with ahigh temperature.
The main function of the trailer tirepressure monitoring system is to warn youwhen your trailer tires need air or if the tiresare experiencing high temperatures. It canalso warn you if the system is no longercapable of functioning as intended. SeeTire Pressure Monitoring System –Information Messages (page 508).
When a Temporary Spare or New Tireis Installed
If you have replaced a trailer tire with a newor spare tire, a warning message appearsand pressure readings are no longerdisplayed for that tire.

CHANGING A FLAT TIRE
If you get a flat tire when driving, do notapply the brake heavily. Instead, graduallydecrease your speed. Hold the steeringwheel firmly and slowly move to a safeplace on the side of the road.
Have a flat serviced by an authorizeddealer to prevent damage to the systemsensors. See Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem Precautions (page 502).Replacethe spare tire with a road tire as soon aspossible. During repairing or replacing theflat tire, have the authorized dealer inspectthe system sensor for damage.
Note:The use of tire sealant may damageyour tire pressure monitoring system andshould only be used in roadsideemergencies.
Note:The tire pressure monitoring systemindicator light illuminates when the sparetire is in use. To restore the full function ofthe monitoring system, all road wheelsequipped with tire pressure monitoringsensors must be mounted on this vehicle.
Dissimilar Spare Wheel and TireAssembly Information
WARNING: Failure to follow theseguidelines could result in an increasedrisk of loss of vehicle control, injury ordeath.
If you have a dissimilar spare wheel andtire, then it is intended for temporary useonly. This means that if you need to use it,you should replace it as soon as possiblewith a road wheel and tire assembly thatis the same size and type as the road tiresand wheels that were originally providedby Ford. If the dissimilar spare tire or wheelis damaged, it should be replaced ratherthan repaired.
A dissimilar spare wheel and tire assemblyis defined as a spare wheel and tireassembly that is different in brand, size orappearance from the road tires andwheels.
Full-size dissimilar spare
When driving with the full-size dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly, do not:
•Exceed 70 mph (113 km/h).
•Use more than one dissimilar sparewheel and tire assembly at a time.
•Use snow chains on the end of thevehicle with the dissimilar spare wheeland tire assembly.
•Engage any four-wheel drive mode.See Four-Wheel Drive Limitations(page 239).
When driving with the full-size dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly, 4WDfunctionality may be limited. You mayexperience the following:
•Additional noise from the transfer caseor other drive components.
•Difficulty shifting out of a mechanicallylocked 4WD mode.
When driving with the full-size dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly, it isrecommended that you do not:
•Engage 4WD High or 4WD Low, ifequipped, other than to get your vehicleunstuck. .
The usage of a full-size dissimilar sparewheel and tire assembly can lead toimpairment of the following:
•Handling, stability and brakingperformance.
•Comfort and noise.
•Ground clearance and parking at curbs.
•Winter weather driving capability.
•Wet weather driving capability.
•Four-wheel drive capability.

•Towing a trailer.

Drive cautiously when using a full-sizedissimilar spare wheel and tire assemblyand seek service as soon as possible.

WARNING: To help prevent yourvehicle from moving when changing awheel, shift the transmission into park(P), set the parking brake and use anappropriate block or wheel chock tosecure the wheel diagonally opposite tothe wheel being changed. For example,when changing the front left wheel,place an appropriate block or wheelchock on the right rear wheel.

Engine Oil
We recommend Motorcraft motor oil foryour vehicle. If Motorcraft motor oil is notavailable, use motor oil of therecommended viscosity grade that meetsour specification WSS-M2C171-F1. You canfind the list of approved motor oils atwww.motorcraft.com.
Do not use supplemental engine oiladditives because they are unnecessaryand could lead to engine damage that yourvehicle warranty does not cover.
The use of correct oil viscosities for dieselengines is important for satisfactoryoperation. Determine which oil viscositybest suits the temperature range youexpect to encounter for the next serviceinterval from the SAE Viscosity Gradeschart.
Note:An engine block heater isrecommended at temperatures below -9°F(-23°C).
