Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. The engine cool- ant is under pressure and could erupt and cause severe burns. Waituntil the engine is cool before re- moving the radiator cap. The needle on the engine coolant tem- perature gauge should stay in themiddle between "H" and "C". If it moves across the dial to "H" (Hot), pull over and stop as soon as possible and turnoff the engine. Then open the hood and, after the engine has cooled, check the coolant level and the water pumpdrive belt. If you suspect cooling sys- tem trouble, have your cooling system checked by a Hyundai dealer as soonas possible.

The di-rection of air flow from the vents in the center of the dashboard is adjustable. To control the direction of the air flow,move the knob in the center of the vent up-and-down and side-to-side. B710C02HP-AAT SIDE VENTILATOR The side ventilators are located on each side of the dashboard. To changethe direction of the air flow, move the knob in the center of the vent up-and- down and side-to-side. The vents areopened when the vent knob is moved to " " position. The vents are closed when the vent knob is moved to " ".Keep these vents clear of any obstruc- tions.

B670D01E-AAT Air Flow Control This is used to direct the flow of air. Air can be directed to the floor, dashboardoutlets, or windshield. Five symbols are used to represent Face, Bi-Level, Floor, Floor-Defrost and Defrost airposition.
Face-Level

B670E01A-AAT Temperature Control This control is used to adjust the de- gree of heating or cooling desired. B690A01E-AAT
B670B02A-AAT Fan Speed Control (Blower Control) This is used to turn the blower fan on or off and to select the fan speed.This blower fan speed, and therefore the volume of air delivered from the system, may be controlled manuallyby setting the blower control between the "1" and "4" positions. For normal heating operation, set theair intake control to the fresh air ( )position and the air flow control to the floor ( ) position. For faster heating, the air intake con- trol should be set in the recirculate ( ) position. If the windows fog up, set the air flow control to the defrost ( ) position.(The A/C will be on automatically and "Fresh" mode will be activated.) For maximum heat, rotate the tempera- ture control to "Warm".

o To keep dust or unpleasant fumes
from entering the car through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control to ( ). Be sure to return the control to ( )when the irritation has passed to keep fresh air in the vehicle. This will help keep the driver alert and com-fortable.
o Air for the heating/cooling system is
drawn in through the grilles justahead of the windshield. Care should be taken that these are not blocked by leaves, snow, ice or other ob-structions.
o To prevent interior fog on the wind-
shield, set the air intake control tothe fresh air ( ) position, fan speed to the desired position, turn on the air conditioning system, and adjusttemperature control to desired tem- perature.
To remove frost or exterior fog on the windshield:
o Set the air flow control to the defrost ( ) position. (The A/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode will be activated.)
o Set the temperature control to the warm.
o Set the fan speed control to position "3" or "4". NOTE: When the A/C is operated continu- ously on the floor-defrost level ( ) or defrost level ( ), it may causefog to form on the exterior wind- shield by the temperature differen- tial. At this time set the air flowcontrol to the face level position ( ) and fan speed control to the low position.

B740B01S-AAT Air Conditioning Operation Cooling To use the air conditioning to cool the interior:
o Set the side vent control to "OFF",to shut off outside air entry.
o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch by pushing in on the switch. The air conditioning indicator light should come on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control to "Fresh" mode ( ). o Set the temperature control to
"Cool". ("Cool" provides maximum cooling. The temperature may be moderated by moving the control toward "Warm".)
o Adjust the fan control to the desired speed. For greater cooling, turn thefan control to one of the higherspeeds or temporarily select the "Recirculation ( )" position on the air intake control.

B970C02E-GAT Automatic Operation The FATC (Full Automatic Tempera- ture Control) system automatically con- trols heating and cooling by doing asfollows:
1. Push the "AUTO" button. The indica-
tor light will illuminate confirming that the Face, Floor and/or Bi-Level modes as well as the blower speedand air conditioner will be controlled automatically. 2. Push the "TEMP" button to set the
desired temperature. The temperature will increase to themaximum 32°C(90°F) by pushing on the " " button. Each push of the button will cause the temperature toincrease by 0.5°C(1°F). The temperature will decrease to the minimum 17°C(62°F) by pushing onthe " " button. Each push of the button will cause the temperature to decrease by 0.5°C(1°F).

In this state, the system sequentially works according to the order of buttonsselected. The function of the buttons which are not selected will be controlled automati-cally.
