Grasp the support rod in the
area wrapped in rubber. The
rubber will help prevent you
from being burned by hotmetal.
The support rod must be
inserted completely into the
hole provided whenever you
inspect the motor compart-
ment. This will prevent the
hood from falling and possi-
bly injuring you.

Tailgate
Opening the tailgate
1. Make sure the gear is shifted to P(Park) and set the parking brake.
2. Then do one of the following : - Press the Smart Key TailgateUnlock button for more than one second.
- Press the button on the tailgate itself with the Smart Key in yourpossession.
3. Lift the tailgate lid up.
Closing the tailgate
Lower the tailgate lid and press down
until it locks. To be sure the tailgate
lid is securely fastened, always
check by trying to pull it up again.
Before closing the hood, ensure all obstructions are
removed from around hoodopening.
Always double check to be
sure that the hood is firmly
latched before driving away.
Check there is no hood open
warning light or message dis-
played on the instrument clus-
ter. If the hood is not latched
while the vehicle is moving, the
chime will sound to warn the
driver the hood is not fully
latched. Driving with the hood
opened may cause a total loss
of visibility, which might resultin an accident.
Do not move the vehicle with the hood in the raised posi-
tion, as vision is obstructed,
which might result in an acci-
dent, and the hood could fall
or be damaged.

Information
To prevent damage to the tailgate lift
cylinders and the attached hardware,
always close the tailgate before driv-
ing.
In cold and wet climates, tailgate
lock and tailgate mechanisms may
not work properly due to freezingconditions.
NOTICE
i
NEVER allow anyone to occu-
py the tailgate of the vehicle at
any time. If the tailgate is par-
tially or totally latched and the
person is unable to get out,
serious injury or death could
occur due to lack of ventila-
tion, exhaust fumes and rapid
heat build-up, or because of
exposure to cold weather con-
ditions. The tailgate is also a
highly dangerous location in
the event of a crash because it
is not a protected occupant
space but is a part of the vehi-
cle’s crush zone.
Your vehicle should be kept
locked and keys should be
kept out of the reach of chil-
dren. Parents should teach
their children about the dan-
gers of playing in tailgates.

Instrument panel illumination
When the vehicle's position lights or headlights are on, press the illumina-
tion control button to adjust the
brightness of the instrument panelillumination. When pressing the illumination con-
trol button, the interior switch illumi-nation intensity is also adjusted. The brightness of the instrument
panel illumination is displayed.
If the brightness reaches to the maximum or minimum level, achime will sound.
Never adjust the instrument
cluster while driving. This could
result in loss of control and lead
to an accident that may cause
death, serious injury, or property
damage.

Speedometer
The speedometer indicates the
speed of the vehicle and is calibratedin kilometers per hour (km/h) and/ormiles per hour (MPH).
The speedometer is displayed differ-
ently according to the selected drive
mode in the Drive Mode IntegratedControl System.
For more details, refer to “Drive
Mode Integrated Control System”
in chapter 5.ECO guide
The ECO guide shows the energy
consumption rate of the vehicle andthe charge/discharge status of the
regenerative brakes.
It shows the energy consumption rate
of the vehicle when driving uphill or
accelerating. The more electric ener-
gy is used, the higher the gauge level.
It shows the energy consumption
rate during normal driving condition.OAE046103

Convenient features of your vehicle
It shows the charging status of the
battery when it is being charged by
the regenerative brakes (decelerat-
ing or driving on a downhill road).
The more electric energy is charged,
the lower the gauge level.State of Charge (SOC) gauge forhigh voltage battery
The SOC gauge shows the charging
status of the high voltage battery.
“L (Low) or 0" position on the indica- tor indicates that there is not enough
energy in the high voltage battery. “H(High) or 1“ position indicates that
the driving battery is fully charged.
When driving on highways or motor-
ways, make sure to check in advance
if the driving battery is chargedenough. When there are 2~3 gauge bars
(near the “L (Low) or 0" area) on the
SOC gauge, the warning lamp turns
ON to alert you of the battery level.
When the warning lamp turns ON,
the vehicle can drive an additional20~30 km (12~18 miles) depending
on the driving speed, heater/air con-
ditioner, weather, driving style, and
other factors. Charging is required.
When there are 1-2 gauge bars left
for the high voltage battery, the
vehicle speed is limited and then
eventually the vehicle will turn OFF.
Charge the vehicle immediately.

Outside temperature gauge
This gauge indicates the current out-
side air temperatures either in
Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit.
- Temperature range :-40°C ~ 60°C (-40°F ~ 140°F)
The outside temperature on the dis-
play may not immediately change
like a general thermometer not to
distract the driver.
The temperature unit (from °C to °F
or from °F to °C) can be changed by: - User Settings mode in the Cluster :
You can change the temperature
unit in the “Other Features -
Temperature unit” .
- Automatic climate control system : While pressing the OFF button,
press the AUTO button for 3 sec-
onds or more.
The temperature unit of the instrumentcluster and climate control system will
change at once.
Odometer
The odometer indicates the total dis-
tance that the vehicle has been driv-
en and should be used to determine
when periodic maintenance should
be performed.

Distance to empty
The distance to empty is the esti-mated distance the vehicle can be
driven with remaining level of the
high voltage battery.
For more details, refer to
“Distance to Empty” in the
Electric Vehicle Guide.
The distance to empty is displayed differently according to the selected
drive mode in the Drive Mode
Integrated Control System. For
more details, refer to “Drive Mode
Integrated Control System” in
chapter 5.
Reduction gear shift indicator
This indicator displays which gear isselected.
Shift indicator pop-up (if equipped)
The pop-up indicates the current
gear position displayed in the cluster
for about 2 seconds when shiftinginto other positions (P/R/N/D).

Warning and indicator lights
Information
Make sure that all warning lights are
OFF after starting the vehicle. If any
light is still ON, this indicates a situa-
tion that needs attention.
Ready Indicator
This indicator illuminates :
When the vehicle is ready to be driven.
- ON : Normal driving is possible.
- OFF : Nor mal driving is not possible,
or a problem has occurred.
- Blinking : Emergency driving. When the ready indicator goes OFF
or blinks, there is a problem with the
system. In this case, we recommend
that you have your vehicle inspected
by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Service Warning Light
This warning light illuminates :
When the POWER button is in the ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When there is a problem with relat- ed parts of the electric vehicle con-
trol system, such as sensors, etc.
When the warning light illuminates
while driving, or does not go OFF
after starting the vehicle, we recom-
mend that you have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
