o Don't drive faster than 88 km/h (55 mph).
o While driving, keep your engine speed (rpm, or revolutions per minute) between2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm.
o Use moderate acceleration. Don't start, de- press the accelerator pedal fully.
o For the first 300 km (200 miles), try to avoid hard stops.
o Don't lug the engine (in other words, don't drive so slowly in toohigh a gear that theengine "bucks": shift to a lower gear).
o Whether going fast or slow, vary your speed from time to time. The trip computer is a microcomputer-con- trolled driver information gauge that displaysinformation related to driving, such as a dis-tance to empty, average speed and drive timeon the LCD. RESET SWITCH

o When the battery has been reinstalled after being discharged or disconnected, drivemore than 32km for an accurate distance toempty. NOTE:
o If the distance to empty is indicated "- -",
have the trip computer system checkedby your authorized Hyundai dealer.
o The distance to empty can differ from the actual tripmeter according to drivingconditions.
o The distance to empty can vary accord- ing to the driving conditions, drivingpattern or vehicle speed.
2. AVERAGE SPEED
o This mode indicates the average speed travelled since the last average speed re- set.
o Pressing the reset switch for more than 1 second, when the average speed is beingdisplayed, clears the average speed to zero.

3. DRIVE TIME

o This mode indicates the drive time travelled since the last drive time reset.

To indicate a lane change, move the lever up or down to a point where it begins flashing.The lever will automatically return to the centerposition when released.
B340A01A-AAT COMBINATION TURN SIGNAL, HEADLIGHT AND HIGH-BEAMSWITCH Turn Signal Operation Pulling down on the lever causes the turn signals on the left side of the car to blink.Pushing upwards on the lever causes the turnsignals on the right side of the car to blink. Asthe turn is completed, the lever will automati-cally return to the center position and turn offthe turn signals at the same time. If either turnsignal indicator light blinks more rapidly thanusual, goes on but does not blink, or does notgo on at all, there is a malfunction in the system.Check for a burned-out fuse or bulb or see yourHyundai dealer.

B340C02FC-GAT Headlight Switch
To operate the headlights, turn the barrel on the end of the multi-function switch. The first posi-tion turns on the parking lights, sidelights, taillights and instrument panel lights. The secondposition turns on the headlights. NOTE: The ignition must be in the "ON" position toturn on the headlights. Parking light auto cut (If installed)
If you do not turn the parking lights "OFF" after driving, the parking lights will automati-cally shut "OFF" when the driver's door isopened. To turn them "ON" again you must simply turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.
B340F01A-GAT Daytime Running Lights (If Installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with daytime running lights. The daytime running lights are used toimprove visibility for oncoming traffic. Your
vehicle daytime running lights are designed toremain on continuously when the engine isoperating even though the headlight switch is inthe "OFF" position. However, the daytime run-
ning lights will be off while the parking brake isapplied.

The windshield wiper switch has three posi- tions:
1. Intermittent wiper operation
2. Low-speed operation
3. High-speed operation NOTE: To prevent damage to the wiper system, donot attempt to wipe away heavy accumula-tions of snow or ice. Accumulated snow andice should be removed manually. If there isonly a light layer of snow or ice, operate theheater in the defrost mode to melt the snowor ice before using the wiper.

To flash the headlights, pull the switch lever toward you, then release it. The headlights canbe flashed even though the headlight switch isin the "OFF" position.
To use the windshield washer, pull the wiper/ washer lever toward the steering wheel. Whenthe washer lever is operated, the wipers auto-matically make two passes across the wind-shield. The washer continues to operate untilthe lever is released. NOTE:
o Do not operate the washer more than 15 seconds at a time or when the fluid reser-voir is empty.
o In icy or freezing weather, be sure the wiper blades are not frozen to the glassprior to operating the wipers.
o In areas where water freezes in winter, use windshield washer antifreeze.

This is used to select fresh outside air or recirculating inside air.To change the air intake control mode, (Freshmode, Recirculation mode) push the controlbutton. FRESH MODE (

button goes off when the air intake control is in fresh mode. RECIRCULATION MODE (
): The indicator
light on the button is illuminated when the air intake control is in recirculation mode. With the "Fresh" mode selected, air enters the
vehicle from the outside and is heated or cooledaccording to the function selected. With the "Recirculation" mode selected, air from within the passenger compartment will bedrawn through the heating system and heatedor cooled according to the function selected.

This is used to turn the blower fan on or off and to select the fan speed.This blower fan speed, and therefore the vol-ume of air delivered from the system, may becontrolled manually by setting the blower con-trol between the "1" and "4" positions.

Face-Level
Selecting the "Face" mode will cause air to be discharged through the face level vents.
NOTE:
o It should be noted that prolonged opera- tion of the heating in "Recirculation"mode will increase to fogging of thewindshield and side windows and the airwithin the passenger compartment willbecome stale. In addition, prolonged useof the air conditioning with the "Recircu-lation" mode selected may result in theair within the passenger compartmentbecoming excessively dry.

This is used to direct the flow of air. Air can be directed to the floor, dashboard outlets, orwindshield. Five symbols are used to representFace, Bi-Level, Floor, Floor-Defrost and De-frost air position.

Bi-Level
Air is discharged through the face vents and the floor vents. This makes it possible to havecooler air from the dashboard vents and warmerair from the floor outlets at the same time.

SEEK Operation (Automatic Channel Selection) Press the TUNE select button for 1 sec. or more. When the ( ) side is pressed, the unit willautomatically tune to the next higher frequencyand when the ( ) side is pressed, it will automa-tically tune to the next lower frequency.
6. PRESET STATION SELECT Button Six (6) stations for AM, FM1 and FM2 respec- tively can be preset in the electronic memorycircuit on this unit. HOW TO PRESET STATIONS Six AM and twelve FM stations may be pro- grammed into the memory of the radio. Then,by simply pressing the band select button and/or one of the six station select buttons, you mayrecall any of these stations instantly. To pro-gram the stations, follow these steps:
o Press band selector to set the band for AM,
FM1, and FM2.
o Select the desired station to be stored by seek, scan or manual tuning.
o Determine the preset station select button you wish to use to access that station.
o Press the station select button for more than two seconds. A select button indicator will show in the display indicating which selectbutton you have depressed. You shouldthen release the button, and proceed toprogram the next desired station. A total of18 stations can be programmed by select-ing one AM and two FM stations per button.
o When completed, any preset station may be recalled by selecting AM, FM1 or FM2 bandand the appropriate station button.

(Left speakersound will be attenuated) When the controlknob is turned counterclockwise, left speakersound will be emphasized. (Right speakersoundwill be attenuated)After adjusting the balance, push the knobagain to use the other function. SCAN Knob When the scan knob is pressed, the frequency will increase and the receivable stations will betuned in one after another, receiving eachstation for 5 seconds.
