TROUBLE DIAGNOSES WORK FLOW
Identify the error circuit using information from t
he “CAN DIAG SUPPORT MNTR” (“ECU list” included).
1. ECU list: Check the items indicat ed in “ECU list”. Draw a line on the diagnosis sheet to indicate the error
circuit.
NOTE:
CAN communication line has no error if units other than Diag on CAN units are not indicated. An error
may be on the power supply of the control unit, DDL1 line or DDL2 line.
a. “TCM” which is Diag on CAN unit, is not indicated on “E CU list”. This indicates that DLC is not receiving a
signal from TCM. Draw a line to indicate an error between DLC and TCM (line 1-a in the figure below).
NOTE:
 Diag on CAN units are not indicated on the “ECU list” when the CAN line between Diag on CAN unit and
the data link connector is open.
 For a description of Diag on CAN, refer to LAN-5, "
Diag on CAN".
2. CAN DIAG SUPPORT MNTR: Check each item on “CAN DIAG SUPPORT MNTR”. Draw a line on the diagnosis sheet to indicate the error circuit.
a. Reception item of “ECM”: On “TCM”, “UNKWN” is indicated. This means ECM cannot receive the signal
from TCM. Draw a line to indicate an error between ECM and TCM (line 2-a in the figure below).
NOTE:
If “UNKWN” is indicated on “TRANSMIT DIAG”, t hen the control unit cannot transmit CAN communication
signal to each unit. Draw a line between the control unit and the splice.
b. Reception item of “AFS”: On “T CM”, “UNKWN” is indicated. This means AFS cannot receive the signal
from TCM. Draw a line to indicate an error between AFS and TCM (line 2-b in the figure below).

3.CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the ECM. Refer to EC-141, "
Diagnosis Procedure"
(VQ35DE), EC-719, "Diagnosis Procedure" (VK45DE).

OK >>  Present error: Replace the ECM. Refer to EC-100, "Engine Control Component Parts Loca-

3.CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the Intelligent Key unit. Refer to B L - 111 , "
Check Intelligent
Key Unit Power Supply and Ground Circuit".

OK >>  Present error: Replace the Intelligent Key unit. Refer to BL-130, "Removal and Installation of
Intelligent Key Unit".

VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
The vehicle security system will flash the high beams if the system is triggered. Refer to BL-163.
XENON HEADLAMP
Xenon type lamps are used for to the low beam headlamps . Xenon bulbs do not use a filament. Instead, they
produce light when a high voltage current is passed between two tungsten electrodes through a mixture of
xenon (an inert gas) and certain other metal halides. In addition to strong lighting power, electronic control of
the power supply gives the headlamps stable quality and tone color.
Followings are some advantages of the xenon type headlamp.
 The light produced by the headlamps is white color si milar to sunlight that is easy to the eyes.
 Light output is nearly double that of halogen headl amps, affording increased area of illumination.
 Counter-reflected luminance increases and the contrast enhances on the wet road in the rain. That makes
visibility go up more than the increase of the light volume.
 Power consumption is approximately 25 percent less than halogen headlamps, reducing battery load.
CAN Communication System DescriptionINFOID:0000000001328267
CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication li ne for real time application. It is an on-vehicle mul-
tiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many elec-
tronic control units are equipped onto a vehicle, and each control unit shares information and links with other
control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected with 2
communication lines (CAN H line, CAN L line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring.
Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only.

After installing bulb, be sure to install plastic cap and bulb socket securely to insure watertight-
ness.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal or remove power fuse.
2. Remove front bumper fascia assembly. Refer to EI-14, "
Compo-
nent Parts Location".
3. Remove headlamp mounting bolts and nut.
4. Remove plastics bumper bracket, then pull headlamp toward vehicle front, disconnect connector, and remove headlamp.
INSTALLATION
Installation is the reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
After installation, perform aiming adjustment. Refer to LT-27, "
Aiming Adjustment".
