A visible mist may be seen coming from the
ventilators in hot, humid conditions as the air is
cooled rapidly. This does not indicate a mal-
function.
Heating (A/C OFF) :
The air conditioner does not activate in this
mode. When you need to heat only, use this
mode.
1. Push the ªA/Cº button. (The A/C indicatorwill turn off.)
2. Push the temperature control button to set the desired temperature.
cThe temperature of the passenger compart-
ment will be maintained automatically. Air
flow distribution and fan speed are also
controlled automatically.
c Do not set the temperature lower than the
outside air temperature. Otherwise the sys-
tem may not work properly.
c Not recommended if windows fog up.
Dehumidified defrosting or defogging:
1. Push the ªº front defroster button.
(The indicator light on the button will
come on.)
2. Push the temperature control button to set the desired temperature.
cTo quickly remove ice from the outside of the
windows, push the fan speed increase but-
ton ª
º and set it to the maximum
position.
c As soon as possible after the windshield is
clean, push the ªAUTOº button to return to
the AUTO mode.
c When the ª
º front defroster button is
pushed, the air conditioner will automati-
cally be turned on at outside temperatures
above 23ÉF ( 25ÉC) to defog the windshield,
and the air recirculate mode will automati-
cally be turned off.
Outside air is drawn into the passenger
compartment to improve the defogging per-
formance.
To turn the system off :
Push the ªOFFº button.
Manual operation
Fan speed control :
Push the fan speed increase ª
ºorde-
crease ª
º buttons to manually control the
fan speed.
Push the ªAUTOº button to return to automatic
control of the fan speed. Air recirculation :
Push the intake air control button
ª
º to recirculate interior air inside
the vehicle. The indicator light on the ª
º
side will come on.
The air recirculation mode cannot be activated
when the air conditioner is in the front defrost-
ing mode ª
º.
Outside air circulation :
Push the intake air control button
ª
º to draw outside air into the
passenger compartment. The indicator light on
the ª
º side will come on.
Automatic intake air control :
In the AUTO mode, the intake air will be con-
trolled automatically. To manually control the
intake air, push the intake air control button
ª
º. To return to the automatic con-
trol mode, push the intake air control button
ª
º for about 2 seconds. The indi-
cator lights (both air recirculation and outside
air circulation sides) will flash twice, and then
the intake air will be controlled automatically.

Air flow control :
Pushing the ªMODEº manual air flow control
button selects the air outlet to:
: Air flows from center and side ventila-tors.
: Air flows from center and side ventila-tors and foot outlets.
: Air flows mainly from foot outlets.
: Air flows from defroster and foot outlets.
Automatic upper vent system
When the ªº automatic upper vent button
is pushed, the air flow against the driver's or
passenger's upper body becomes gentle. The
indicator light on the button will come on.
In this mode, air from the center ventilators
flows both straight and upward in order to
control the cabin temperature without blowing
air directly on the occupants.
Distribution between straight and upward flows
will be determined automatically by the climate
control system.
If you prefer strong air flow against your upper
body, push the ª
º button to turn the
indicator light off. To turn the system off :
Push the ªOFFº button.
Ambient temperature
The ambient temperature will be displayed.
The ambient temperature sensor is located in
front of the radiator. The sensor may be affected
by road or engine heat, wind direction and other
driving conditions. The display may differ from
the actual ambient temperature or the tempera-
ture displayed on various signs or billboards.

REAR SWITCHES FOR CLIMATE
CONTROL (if so equipped)
The rear seat passengers can adjust the climate
control system using the climate controls in the
rear armrest panel.
ªAUTOº button: automatic climate control
mode on

º button: Fan speed control up (Max fan
speed !return to Low fan speed)
ª
º button: Temperature control up/down
OPERATING TIPS
When the engine coolant temperature and out-
side air temperature are low, the air flow from
the foot outlets may not operate for a maximum
of 150 seconds. This is not a malfunction. After
the coolant temperature warms up, air will flow
normally from the foot outlets. The sunload sensor
sAon the instrument panel
helps maintain a constant temperature. Do not
put anything on or around this sensor.
IN-CABIN MICROFILTER
The climate control system is equipped with an
in-cabin microfilter which collects dirt, pollen,
dust, etc. To make sure the air conditioner
heats, defogs, and ventilates efficiently, replace
the filter in accordance with the maintenance
schedule in the INFINITI Service and Mainte-
nance Guide. To replace the filter, contact an
INFINITI retailer. The filter should be replaced if air flow is ex-
tremely decreased or when windows fog up eas-
ily when operating heater or air conditioning
system.
SERVICING CLIMATE CONTROL
The climate control system in your INFINITI is
charged with a refrigerant designed with the
environment in mind.
This refrigerant will not
harm the earth's ozone layer. However, special
charging equipment and lubricant are required
when servicing your INFINITI air conditioner.
Using improper refrigerants or lubricants will
cause severe damage to your climate control
system. (See ªCAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED
FUEL/LUBRICANTSº in the ª9. Technical and
consumer informationº section for climate con-
trol system refrigerant and lubricant recommen-
dations.)
Your INFINITI retailer will be able to service your
environmentally friendly climate control sys-
tem.
WARNING
The system contains refrigerant under high
pressure. To avoid personal injury, any air con-
ditioner service should be done only by an ex-
perienced technician with the proper
equipment.

AUDIO OPERATION PRECAUTIONS
Radio
Push the ignition switch to the ACC or ON
position and push the radio band select button
to turn on the radio. If you listen to the radio
with the engine not running, the ignition switch
should be pushed to the ACC position.
Radio reception is affected by station signal
strength, distance from radio transmitter, build-
ings, bridges, mountains and other external
influences. Intermittent changes in reception
quality normally are caused by these external
influences.
Using a cellular phone in or near the vehicle may
influence radio reception quality.
Radio reception :
Your INFINITI radio system is equipped with
state-of-the-art electronic circuits to enhance
radio reception. These circuits are designed to
extend reception range, and to enhance the
quality of that reception.
However there are some general characteristics
of both FM and AM radio signals that can affect
radio reception quality in a moving vehicle,
even when the finest equipment is used. These
characteristics are completely normal in a givenreception area, and do not indicate any mal-
function in your INFINITI radio system.
Reception conditions will constantly change
because of vehicle movement. Buildings, ter-
rain, signal distance and interference from
other vehicles can work against ideal reception.
Described below are some of the factors that
can affect your radio reception.
Some cellular phones or other devices may
cause interference or a buzzing noise to come
from the audio system speakers. Storing the
device in a different location may reduce or
eliminate the noise.
FM radio reception :
Range: FM range is normally limited to 25 to 30
miles (40 to 48 km), with monaural (single
channel) FM having slightly more range than
stereo FM. External influences may sometimes
interfere with FM station reception even if the
FM station is within 25 miles (40 km). The
strength of the FM signal is directly related to
the distance between the transmitter and re-
ceiver. FM signals follow a line-of-sight path,
exhibiting many of the same characteristics as
light. For example they will reflect off objects.
Fade and drift: As your vehicle moves away from
a station transmitter, the signals will tend to
fade and/or drift.

Static and flutter: During signal interference
from buildings, large hills or due to antenna
position, usually in conjunction with increased
distance from the station transmitter, static or
flutter can be heard. This can be reduced by
lowering the treble setting to reduce the treble
response.
Multipath reception: Because of the reflective
characteristics of FM signals, direct and re-
flected signals reach the receiver at the same
time. The signals may cancel each other, result-
ing in momentary flutter or loss of sound.
AM radio reception :
AM signals, because of their low frequency, can
bend around objects and skip along the ground.
In addition, the signals can be bounced off the
ionosphere and bent back to earth. Because of
these characteristics. AM signals are also sub-
ject to interference as they travel from transmit-
ter to receiver.
Fading: Occurs while the vehicle is passing
through freeway underpasses or in areas with
many tall buildings. It can also occur for several
seconds during ionospheric turbulence even in
areas where no obstacles exist.
Static: Caused by thunderstorms, electrical
power lines, electric signs and even traffic
lights.Satellite radio reception :
When the satellite radio (if so equipped) is first
installed or the battery has been replaced, the
satellite radio may not work properly. This is not
a malfunction. Wait more than 10 minutes with
satellite radio ON and the vehicle outside of any
metal or large building for satellite radio to
receive all of the necessary data.
The satellite radio mode will be skipped unless
an optional satellite receiver and antenna are
installed and an XMT
satellite radio service
subscription is active. Satellite radio is not
available in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam.
Satellite radio performance may be affected if
cargo carried on the roof blocks the satellite
radio signal.
If possible, do not put cargo near the satellite
antenna.
A build up of ice on the satellite radio antenna
can affect satellite radio performance. Remove
the ice to restore satellite radio reception.
Compact Disc (CD) player
c Do not force a compact disc into the CD insert
slot. This could damage the CD and/or CD
changer/player.
c Trying to load a CD with the CD door closed
could damage the CD and/or CD changer.

cDuring cold weather or rainy days, the player
may malfunction due to the humidity. If this
occurs, remove the CD and dehumidify or ven-
tilate the player completely.
c The player may skip while driving on rough
roads.
c The CD player sometimes cannot function
when the passenger compartment tempera-
ture is extremely high. Decrease the tem-
perature before use.
c Only use high quality 4.7 in (12 cm) round
discs that have the ªCOMPACT disc DIGITAL
AUDIOº logo on the disc or packaging.
c Do not expose the CD to direct sunlight.
c CDs that are of poor quality, dirty, scratched,
covered with fingerprints, or that have pin
holes may not work properly.
c The following CDs may not work properly:
± Copy control compact discs (CCCD)
± Recordable compact discs (CD-R)
± Rewritable compact discs (CD-RW)
c Do not use the following CDs as they may
cause the CD player to malfunction.
± 3.1 in (8 cm) discs
± CDs that are not round ±
CDs with a paper label
± CDs that are warped, scratched, or have
abnormal edges
c This audio system can only play prerecorded
CDs. It has no capabilities to record or burn
CDs.
c If the CD cannot be played, one of the follow-
ing messages will be displayed.
CHECK DISC: ± Confirm that the CD is inserted correctly
(the label side is facing up, etc.).
± Confirm that the CD is not bent or warped
and it is free of scratches.
PUSH EJECT:
This is an error due to the temperature inside
the player is too high. Remove the CD by
pushing the EJECT button, and after a short
time reinsert the CD. The CD can be played
when the temperature of the player returns to
normal.
UNPLAYABLE:
The file is unplayable in this audio system
(only MP3 or WMA CD).CompactFlash (CF) player
c Do not force a CF card into the slot. This could
damage the CF card and/or player.
c During cold weather or rainy days, the player
may malfunction due to the humidity. If this
occurs, remove the CF card and dehumidify or
ventilate the player completely.
c The CF player sometimes cannot function
when the passenger compartment tempera-
ture is extremely high. Decrease the tem-
perature before use.
c Do not expose a CF card to direct sunlight.
c Confirm that a CF card is inserted correctly.
iPodT player
cSome characters used in other languages
(Chinese, Japanese, etc.) are not displayed
properly on the vehicle center screen. We rec-
ommend using English language characters
with an iPodT.
c Large video podcast files cause slow re-
sponses in the iPod T. The vehicle center dis-
play may momentarily black out, but it will
soon recover.
c If the iPod Tautomatically selects large video
podcast files while in the shuffle mode, the
vehicle center display may momentarily
black out, but it will soon recover.

cImproperly plugging in the iPod Tmay cause
a checkmark to be displayed on and off (flick-
ering). Always make sure that the iPodT is
connected properly.
c The iPodT nano (2nd Generation) will con-
tinue to fast forward or rewind if it is discon-
nected during a seek operation.
c An incorrect song title may appear when the
Play Mode is changed while using the iPodT
nano (2nd Generation).
c Audiobooks may not play in the same order
as they appear on the iPodT.
c The iPodT nano (1st Generation) may remain
in fast forward or rewind mode if it is con-
nected during a seek operation. In this case,
please manually reset the iPodT.
c If you are using an iPod T(3rd Generation with
Dock connector), do not use very long names
for the song title, album name or artist name
to avoid the iPodT from resetting itself.
c Be careful not to do the following, or the
cable could be damaged and a loss of func-
tion may occur.
± Bend the cable excessively (1.6 in (40 mm)
radius minimum).
± Twist the cable excessively (more than
180 degrees). ±
Pull or drop the cable.
± Close the center console lid on the cable or
connectors.
± Store objects with sharp edges in the stor-
age where the cable is stored.
± Spill liquids on the cable and connectors.
c Do not connect the cable to the iPod Tif the
cable and/or connectors are wet. It may dam-
age the iPodT.
c If the cable and connectors are exposed to
water, allow the cable and/or connectors to
dry completely before connecting the cable
to the iPodT (wait 24 hours for it to dry).
c If the connector is exposed to fluids other
than water, evaporative residue may cause a
short between the connector pins. In this
case, replace the cable, otherwise damage to
the iPodT and a loss of function may occur.
c If the cable is damaged (insulation cut, con-
nectors cracked, contamination such as liq-
uids, dust, dirt, etc. in the connectors), do not
use the cable and contact an INFINITI retailer
to replace the cable with a new one.
c When not in use for extended periods of time,
store the cable in a clean, dust free environ-
ment at room temperature and without direct
sun exposure. c
Do not use the cable for any other purposes
other than its intended use in the vehicle.
c iPodT charging is only possible for devices
that support charging via a FireWire Tconnec-
tion. Devices that can be charged by the iPod
player include:
± iPodT Classic - 1st through 6th generation
± iPodT Mini - 1st and 2nd generation
± iPodT Nano - 1st through 3rd generation
only
± iPodT Touch - 1st generation only
± iPhoneT - 1st generation only
* The iPod TClassic and iPod TTouch may not
charge properly in some cases.
* 12V charging is not possible on the iPhone 3G and later models.

qualityº sound, but at a fraction of the size
of normal audio files. MP3 conversion of an
audio track from CD/CF can reduce the file
size by approximately 10:1 ratio (Sampling:
44.1 kHz, Bit rate: 128 kbps) with virtually no
perceptible loss in quality. MP3 compression
removes the redundant and irrelevant parts
of a sound signal that the human ear doesn't
hear.
c WMA Ð Windows Media Audio (WMA) is a
compressed audio format created by Mi-
crosoft as an alternative to MP3. The WMA
codec offers greater file compression than
the MP3 codec, enabling storage of more
digital audio tracks in the same amount of
space when compared to MP3s at the same
level of quality.
c Bit rate Ð Bit rate denotes the number of
bits per second used by a digital music files.
The size and quality of a compressed digital
audio file is determined by the bit rate used
when encoding the file.
c Sampling frequency Ð Sampling frequency
is the rate at which the samples of a signal
are converted from analog to digital (A/D
conversion) per second. c
Multisession Ð Multisession is one of the
methods for writing data to media. Writing
data once to the media is called a single
session, and writing more than once is
called a multisession.
c ID3/WMA Tag Ð The ID3/WMA tag is the part
of the encoded MP3 or WMA file that con-
tains information about the digital music file
such as song title, artist, album title, encod-
ing bit rate, track time duration, etc. ID3 tag
information is displayed on the
Album/Artist/Track title line on the display.
