1. Park vehicle on flat surface.
2. Turn ignition switch to ªOFFº position.
3. Move A/T selector lever to ªPº or ªNº position.
4. Set 4WD shift switch to ª4Hº position.
5. Set 4WD shift switch to ª2WDº position.
6. Start engine.
7. Is 4WD shift indicator lamp turned OFF?

1. Set 4WD shift switch to ª2WDº, ªAUTOº, ª4Hº, ª4LOº, ª4Hº and ª2WDº in order.
(Stay at each switch position for at least 1 second.)
2. Does 4WD shift indicator lamp change properly and does buzzer sound?

2 CHECK INPUT SIGNAL
With CONSULT-II
1. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Park vehicle on flat surface.
3. Move A/T selector lever to ªPº position.
4. Set 4WD shift switch to ª4Hº position.
5. Set 4WD shift switch to ªAUTOº position.
6. Start engine.
7. Drive for at least 30 seconds at a speed higher than 20 km/h (12 MPH).
(Drive vehicle until ªFLUID TEMP SEº exceeds 0.9V.)
8. Park vehicle on flat surface.
9. Move A/T selector lever to ªPº position.
10. Set 4WD shift switch to ª2WDº position.
11. Leave vehicle for at least 80 seconds with ªFLUID TEMP SEº at 0.9V or less.

warning lamp does not turn ON.
1 CHECK TRANSFER CONTROL UNIT POWER SOURCE

1. Turn ignition switch to ªOFFº position and disconnect transfer control unit harness connector.
2. Turn ignition switch to ªONº position.
(Do not start engine.)
3. Check voltage between transfer control unit harness connector terminals 16, 22 and body ground.
Voltage: Battery voltage

NG©Check the following.
IContinuity between ignition switch and transfer control unit

2 CHECK TRANSFER CONTROL UNIT GROUND CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch to ªOFFº position.
2. Disconnect transfer control unit harness connector.
3. Measure resistance between transfer control unit harness connector terminals 6, 45 and body ground.
Resistance: 0W

NG©Check continuity between transfer control unit and body ground.
3 CHECK 4WD WARNING LAMP CIRCUIT
Check the following.
I4WD warning lamp
IContinuity between ignition switch and 4WD warning lamp
IContinuity between 4WD warning lamp and transfer control unit
OK or NG
OK©GO TO 4.
NG©IRepair or replace harness or connector.
IReplace 4WD warning lamp.
4 CHECK PROCEDURES FROM THE BEGINNING AGAIN
Check again.

NG©1. Perform transfer control unit input/output signal inspection. Refer to ªTRANSFER

Check PNP switch circuit.
