2. If the CLIMATE screen is displayed andthe A/C indicator is on, touch the “A/C”
key on the screen to turn A/C off.
3. Press the temperature control button to set the desired temperature.
∙ The temperature of the passenger com- partment will be maintained automati-
cally. Air flow distribution and fan speed
are also controlled automatically.
∙ Do not set the temperature lower than the outside air temperature or the system
may not work properly.
∙ This procedure is not recommended if windows fog up.
When the outside temperature decreases to
approximately 32°F (0°C), the A/C function
does not activate even if the “A/C” indicator
light illuminates.SYNC control setting
Press the SYNC button on the control to
activate the synchronized climate control
function.
Or, you can activate SYNC using the display
screen. 1. Press the CLIMATE button.
2. By touching the "SYNC" key in the dis- play, the SYNC indicator on the screen
will illuminate and the SYNC indicator on
the button will illuminate.
3. To exit SYNC, press the passenger side temperature control buttons. To remove
the rear from SYNC, change any of the
rear climate settings.
Automatic Climate Control System

The Automatic Climate Control System
keeps the air inside of the vehicle clean, using
the automatic air recirculation control with
the exhaust gas/outside odor detecting sen-

Ion control (if so equipped)
The Automatic Climate Control System unit
generates highly concentrated Plasmaclus-
ter® ions into the air blown from the ventila-
tors to reduce odor absorbed into the interior
trim and to suppress airborne bacteria. The
high-density Plasmacluster®ions also have a
proven skin moisture preserving effect.
The Plasmacluster® icon on the Climate
screen indicates the status of the Plasma-
cluster® ion emission from the system and
changes with the amount of the air flow.
Automatic air recirculation control with the
exhaust gas/outside odor detection sensor
(if so equipped)
The Automatic Climate Control System
comes with an exhaust gas
detection/outside odor sensor. When the au-
tomatic air circulation control is activated, the
sensor detects odors outside the vehicle such
as pulp or chemicals, and exhaust such as
gasoline or diesel. When such odors or gases
are detected the display and the system au-
tomatically change from fresh air mode to the
recirculation mode.When the automatic air recirculation is on, for
the first 5 minutes, the air recirculation mode
is selected to prevent dust, dirt, and pollen
from entering the vehicle and to clean the air
inside of the vehicle.
After 5 minutes, the sensor detects exhaust
gas and automatically alternates between
the air recirculation mode and the fresh air
mode.
The automatic air recirculation mode can be
activated under the following conditions.
∙ The air flow control is not in the front defroster mode (the indicator light on
the
front defroster button is turned
off).
∙ The outside temperature is about 32°F (0°C) or more.

tioning system with the front air conditioner
control panel, press the REAR ON-OFF but-

The rear automatic air conditioning system
can be adjusted with the front air conditioner
control panel when the Rear Climate screen is
displayed.
To control the rear automatic air conditioning
system with the front air conditioner control
panel, press the CLIMATE button. When the
display shows front climate control, touch
the “Rear Climate” key on the screen.
Automatic operation
1. Press the AUTO button. The AUTO indi- cator light will illuminate in the Rear Cli-
mate display.

the outside air temperature. Doing so
may cause the temperature to not be
controlled properly.
Turning the system off
1. Press the REAR ON-OFF button on the front control panel and the indicator light
will turn off.
2. Or, press the OFF button. The Rear Cli- mate Controls will turn off.
Turning the system off using the display

The air conditioner system in your INFINITI
vehicle is charged with a refrigerant designed
with the environment in mind.
This refrigerant does not harm the earth’s
ozone layer.
Special charging equipment and lubricant is
required when servicing your INFINITI air
conditioner. Using improper refrigerants or
lubricants will cause severe damage to your
air conditioner system. For additional infor-
mation, refer to “Air conditioner system re-
frigerant and oil recommendations” in the
“Technical and consumer information” sec-
tion of this manual.
It is recommended that you visit an INFINITI
retailer for servicing your “environmentally
friendly” air conditioning system.
WARNING
The air conditioner system contains refrig-
erant under high pressure. To avoid per-
sonal injury, any air conditioner service
should be done only by an experienced
technician with proper equipment.There are USB/iPod® charging ports located
in the 1st row beneath the instrument panel,
in the 2nd row on the back of the center
console (if so equipped) and in the 3rd row
above the cup holders. These ports will
charge compatible devices.
NOTE:
The USB/iPod® charging ports will not op-
erate with the display screen. Only the USB
connection port located inside the console
box will operate USB/iPod® devices.

Additional information:∙ When replacing a wheel without the TPMS such as the spare tire, the TPMS
does not monitor the tire pressure of the
spare tire.
∙ The TPMS will activate only when the vehicle is driven at speeds above 16 mph
(25 km/h). Also, this system may not de-
tect a sudden drop in tire pressure (for
example, a flat tire while driving).
∙ The low tire pressure warning light does not automatically turn off when the tire
pressure is adjusted. After the tire is in-
flated to the recommended pressure, the
vehicle must be driven at speeds above
16 mph (25 km/h) to activate the TPMS
and turn off the low tire pressure warning
light. Use a tire pressure gauge to check
the tire pressure.
∙ The “Tire Pressure Low — Add Air” warn- ing appears in the vehicle information
display when the low tire pressure warn-
ing light is illuminated and low tire pres-
sure is detected. The “Tire Pressure Low -
Add Air” warning turns off when the low
tire pressure warning light turns off. ∙ The “Tire Pressure Low — Add Air” warn-
ing appears each time the ignition switch
is in the ON position as long as the low
tire pressure warning light remains illumi-
nated.
∙ The “Tire Pressure Low — Add Air” warn- ing does not appear if the low tire pres-
sure warning light illuminates to indicate
a TPMS malfunction.
∙ Tire pressure rises and falls depending on the heat caused by the vehicle’s opera-
tion and the outside temperature. Do not
reduce the tire pressure after driving be-
cause the tire pressure rises after driving.
Low outside temperature can lower the
temperature of the air inside the tire
which can cause a lower tire inflation
pressure. This may cause the low tire
pressure warning light to illuminate. If the
warning light illuminates, check the tire
pressure for all four tires.
∙ The Tire and Loading Information label is located in the driver’s door opening. ∙ You can also check the pressure of all
tires (except the spare tire) on the vehicle
information display screen. The order of
the tire pressure figures displayed on the
screen corresponds with the actual order
of the tire position.
For additional information, refer to “Low tire
pressure warning light” and “Tire Pressure
Low — Add Air” in the “Instruments and con-
trols” section and “Tire Pressure Monitoring
System (TPMS)” in the “In case of emergency”
section of this manual.

INFINITI is committed to safe driving. How-
ever, you must choose not to drive under the
influence of alcohol. Every year thousands of
people are injured or killed in alcohol-related
accidents. Although the local laws vary on
what is considered to be legally intoxicated,
the fact is that alcohol affects all people dif-
ferently and most people underestimate the
effects of alcohol.
Remember, drinking and driving don’t mix!
And that is true for drugs, too (over-the-
counter, prescription, and illegal drugs). Don’t
drive if your ability to operate your vehicle is
impaired by alcohol, drugs, or some other
physical condition.
DRIVING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Your INFINITI is designed for both normal
and off-road use. However, avoid driving in
deep water or mud as your INFINITI is mainly
designed for leisure use, unlike a conventional
off-road vehicle.
Remember that 2-Wheel Drive (2WD) mod-
els are less capable than All-Wheel Drive
(AWD) models for rough road driving and
extrication when stuck in deep snow or mud,
or the like.Please observe the following precautions:
WARNING
∙ Spinning the front wheels on slippery
surfaces may cause the AWD warning
message to display and the AWD system
to automatically switch from the AWD to
the 2WD mode. This could reduce the
traction. Be especially careful when tow-
ing a trailer (AWD models).
∙ Drive carefully when off the road and avoid dangerous areas. Every person
who drives or rides in this vehicle should
be seated with their seat belt fastened.
This will keep you and your passengers in
position when driving over rough terrain.
∙ Do not drive across steep slopes. Instead drive either straight up or straight down
the slopes. Off-road vehicles can tip over
sideways much more easily than they can
forward or backward.
∙ Many hills are too steep for any vehicle. If you drive up them, you may stall. If you
drive down them, you may not be able to
control your speed. If you drive across
them, you may roll over. ∙ Do not shift gears while driving on down-
hill grades as this could cause loss of con-
trol of the vehicle.
∙ Stay alert when driving to the top of a hill. At the top there could be a drop-off
or other hazard that could cause an
accident.
∙ If your engine stalls or you cannot make it to the top of a steep hill, never attempt to
turn around. Your vehicle could tip or roll
over. Always back straight down in R
(Reverse) gear and apply brakes to con-
trol your speed.
∙ Heavy braking going down a hill could cause your brakes to overheat and fade,
resulting in loss of control and an acci-
dent. Apply brakes lightly and use a low
gear to control your speed.
∙ Unsecured cargo can be thrown around when driving over rough terrain. Prop-
erly secure all cargo so it will not be
thrown forward and cause injury to you
or your passengers.
∙ Secure heavy loads in the cargo area as far forward and as low as possible. Do not
equip the vehicle with tires larger than
specified in this manual. This could cause
your vehicle to roll over.

When the ignition switch is pushed without
depressing the brake pedal, the ignition
switch will illuminate.
Push the ignition switch center:∙ Once to change to ACC.
∙ Two times to change to ON.
∙ Three times to return to OFF.
The ignition switch will automatically return
to the LOCK position when any door is either
opened or closed with the switch in the OFF
position. The ignition lock is designed so that the igni-
tion switch cannot be placed in the OFF po-
sition until the shift lever is moved to the P
(Park) position.
When the ignition switch cannot be placed in
the OFF position, proceed as follows:
1. Move the shift lever to the P (Park) posi- tion.
2. Push the ignition switch. The ignition switch position will change to the ON
position.
3. Push the ignition switch again to the OFF position.
The shift lever can be moved from the P
(Park) position if the ignition switch is in the
ON position and the brake pedal is de-
pressed.
If the battery of the vehicle is discharged, the
ignition switch cannot be moved from the
LOCK position.
Some indicators and warnings for operation
are displayed on the vehicle information dis-
play. For additional information, refer to “Ve-
hicle information display” in the “Instruments
and controls” section of this manual.OPERATING RANGE
The Intelligent Key functions can only be used
when the Intelligent Key is within the speci-
fied operating range.
When the Intelligent Key battery is almost
discharged or strong radio waves are present
near the operating location, the Intelligent
Key system’s operating range becomes nar-
rower and may not function properly.
If the Intelligent Key is within the operating
range, it is possible for anyone, even some-
one who does not carry the Intelligent Key, to
push the ignition switch to start the engine.

R (Reverse)
CAUTION
To prevent transmission damage, use the R
(Reverse) position only when the vehicle is
completely stopped.
Use the R (Reverse) position to back up. Make
sure the vehicle is completely stopped before
selecting the R (Reverse) position. The brake
pedal must be depressed and the shift lever
button pressed to move the shift lever from
P (Park), N (Neutral) or any drive position to
R (Reverse).
N (Neutral)
Neither forward nor reverse gear is engaged.
The engine can be started in this position. You
may shift to N (Neutral) and restart a stalled
engine while the vehicle is moving.
D (Drive)
Use this position for all normal forward driv-
ing.
Manual shift mode
When the shift lever is in the manual shift
gate, the transmission is ready for the manual
shift mode. Shift ranges can be selected
manually by moving the shift lever up or
down. To cancel manual shift mode, return the shift lever to the D (Drive) position. The
transmission returns to automatic driving
mode.
When the shift lever is moved from D (Drive)
to the manual shift gate with the vehicle
stopped or while driving, the transmission
enters the manual shift mode. Shift ranges
can be selected manually. In the manual shift
mode, the shift range is displayed on the
position indicator in the meter. When moving
the shift lever to the manual shift gate, the
position indicator displays 1 (1st) up to 7 (7th)
depending on vehicle speed.
Shift ranges up or down one by one as fol-
lows:
1⇔
2⇔ 3⇔ 4⇔ 5⇔ 6⇔ 7
7 (7th)
Use this position for all normal forward driv-
ing at highway speeds.
6 (6th) and 5 (5th)
Use this position when driving up long slopes,
or for engine braking when driving down long
slopes.
4 (4th), 3 (3rd) and 2 (2nd)
Use these positions for hill climbing or engine
braking on downhill grades. 1 (1st)
Use this position when climbing steep hills
slowly or when driving slowly, or for maxi-
mum engine braking on steep downhill
grades.
∙ Remember not to drive at high speeds for extended periods of time in lower than
7th gear. This reduces fuel economy.
When shifting up
Move the shift lever to the + (up) side. (Shifts
to higher range.)
When shifting down
Move the shift lever to the (down) side.
(Shifts to lower range.)
∙ The transmission will automatically downshift the gears. (For example, if you
select the 3rd range, the transmission will
shift down between the 3rd and 1st
gears.)
∙ Moving the shift lever rapidly to the same side twice will shift the ranges in succes-
sion.
When canceling the manual shift mode
Return the shift lever to the D (Drive) position
to return the transmission to the normal driv-
ing mode.
