down, luggage can be thrown over the back-

Fold the seat cushion upwards before
folding the rear benc hseat forward. Other-
wise, the back rests ma ybedamaged.
When the backrest is folded forwards, the
fron tseats can notb em oved to their rear-
most position .Otherwi se,the fr ontseats
and the rea rbenc hseat could be damaged.
The left -hand and right-hand rear seat backr-
ests can be folded forwards separately to
increase the luggag ecompartmen tcapacity.

If the driver' sorfront-passenge rseat is
set for alarger person, it maynot be pos-
sibl etof old the rea rbench seat forwards.
In this case, mov ethe fron tseats as far
forwar daspossible.
X Move the head restraint stothe lowest
position (Y page 95).
X Fold seat cushion :upwards. X

The backrest is heavy .Therefore, exer-
cise car ewhen folding it down. Make sure
that the head restraint sare pushed all the
way in so that th ebackrests and seat cush-
ions are not damaged.

the luggage compartment position. X

loads:
R secur ethe load using the la shingeyelets.
R do not use elasti cstraps or nets to secure
al oad, as these ar eonly intended as an
anti-slip protection for light loads.
R do not route lashing materials across sharp
edges or corners.
R pad sharp edges for protection.
There are four lashing eyelets in the lugg age
compartment. Before using th elashing eye-
lets on the fron tright-han dside of the luggage
compartment, the luggage net must be
pushed down. :

WARNING
The luggage compartment cover is not a
restraint system. Secur ethe load unde rthe
luggag ecompart ment cover by suitable
means. Make sure that the luggage compart-
ment cover is engaged securely. If luggage is
not sufficiently secured, it can be thrown over
the backres tinto the passenger compart-
ment, for instance during heavy braking, sud-
den change sofdirection or in the event of an
accident .You coul dcause an accident or
cause injury to yourself and others.
! When loading the vehicle, make sure that
you do not stack the load in the luggage
compartment higher than the lower edge of
the side windows .Donot plac eheavy
object sontop of the luggage compartment
cover.
Al uggage compartment cover or acombined
luggage cover and net (luggage compar tment
cove rwith safety net) is attached, depending
on equipment, behind the rear bench seat
backrest.

gage cover and net from the luggag ecom-
partment.
X Make sure that the safet ynet and the lug-

To remove: press button ;.
X Swin gthe combined luggage cover and net
in the direction of the arrow.
X First ,detac hthe combined luggage cover
and net from left-hand cat ch: and then
remove it from right-hand fixture =.
X To install: push the combined luggage
cover and net up to the stop into right-hand
fixture =.
X Place the combined luggag ecover and net
int ot he left-hand fix tureand push it into
catch :until the combined luggag ecover
and net engages audibly. X
Make sure that red lock status indica-
tor ?is no longer visible. The combined
luggage cover and net will otherwise not be

WARNING
The safety net cannot secure heavy loads. You
should therefor ealways lash down the load.
You could otherwise be injured by objects
which have not been sufficiently secured
being thrown around in the event of sharp
braking, asudden change of direction or an
accident. G

In the event of sharp braking, asudden
change of direction, or an accident, light loads
can be thrown about.
This could result in injury to yourself or others.
Therefore, if you are transporting light loads,
use the safety net.

Luggage holder The luggage holder can be use
dtosecure
ligh tloads against the side wall of the luggage
compartment to prev entthem from moving
around.
! Only use the luggage holder to secure
loads with amaximum weight of 7kgand
with dimensions that the luggage holder
can safel yand securely contain. X
To install: insert two brackets Ainto the
left or right loading rail (Y page303).
X Press releas ebutton :of the luggage
holder and pull the strap out slightly.
X Insert luggag eholder ;intob rackets A
and ,while doing so, press release button
= and push the luggage holder downwards
until it engages.
X Press release button :of the luggage
holder and pull the strap out in the direction
of the arrow.
X Plac ethe load between the strap and the
luggage compartment side wall.
X Using one hand, press locking button :of
the luggage holder.
X With your other hand, let the strap go slowly
until the load is secured.
X Make sur ethat locking button ?on brack-
ets Ais pressed.

loading rail.
X To remove: press release button =on

Telescopic rod The telescopic rod can be used to secure the

Important safet ynotes G
WARNING
An incorrectly secured roof carrier, ski rack or
load could become detached from the vehi-
cle. These objects might then be thrown
around and could injur eyou or other sor
caus eana ccident.F ollow the roof carrier /ski
rack manufacturer's installation instructions
and special instructions for use.
The roof load raises the vehicle's centre of
gravity, thereb yaffecting vehicl ehandling.
You must alway sobserv ethe maximum roof
load of 10 0kg. Always adapt your driving style
to the prevailin groad, traffic and weather
condition sand drive with particula rcare if the
roof is laden.
! Mercedes -Benz recommends that you
only use roof carrier sthat hav ebeen tested
and approved for Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
This helps to preven tdamage to the vehi-
cle.
Position the load on the roof carrier in such
aw ay that the vehicle will not sustain dam-
age even when it is in motion.
Depending on the vehicle equipment,
ensure that when the roof carrier is fitted
you can:
R raise the sliding sunroof fully
R open the panorama sliding sunroof fully
R open the tailgate fully Attaching the roof carrier

Secure the roof carrier to roof rails :.
X Observe the manufacturer' sinstallation

Keep the cup holder closed whil ethe vehicle

Only use the cup holders for container sofa
suitable size and whic hhave lids. The drinks
could otherwise spill.

Do not transport any heavy, sharp-edged or
fragile bottles in the stowage compar tments.
In the event of an accident, the stowage com-
partments can notsecur ethe bottles ade-
quately. You and/or other vehicle occupan ts

The stowage compartments in the doors pro-
vide space for bottles up to 1.0 linsize. 306

The bottles are neither secured nor prevented

lukewarm water only. :

WARNING
When you use the warming function, the metal
insert of the cup holder is heated. Therefore,
do not touch the cup holder insert. Otherwise,
you might burn yourself.
The tem perature-c ontrolle dcup holde rcan
be used to keep cold drinks cold and hot
drinks hot.
You can remove the rubber mat of the cup
holder to clean it. Clean them with clean,
lukewar mwater only. :

When the heating func tion is used, residual
heat indicator lamp ;lights up abov eacer-
tain temperature. This mean sthat the metal
inser tofthe cup holder is hot.

Do not sit on or support your body weight
on the rear seat armrest when it is folded
down, as you could otherwise damage it. Features
