If the lever is set to the locked position, therear door cannot be opened using the insidehandle, but only with the outside handle.If the lever is set to the “Unlock” position, thechild protection mechanism does not func-tion.

The tailgate can be locked or unlocked byusing the central door lock switch (driverside).
After unlocking the tailgate, push the tailgateopen switch (A) and pull up the tailgate.Pull the tailgate grip (B) downward as illus-trated. Gently slam the tailgate from the out-side so that it is completely closed. Alwaysensure the tailgate is securely closed.

The electric tailgate can be operated using theremote control switch on the keyless opera-tion key, or the close switch on the tailgatewhen the electric tailgate power switch (A) ison.
CAUTIONzWhen closing the electric tailgate, make surethere is no foreign matter around the striker(A).If foreign matter gets into the striker it couldprevent the electric tailgate from closing nor-mally.NOTE
zWhen opening and closing the electric tail-gate, do not place your hands near the arm(B).zGas struts (C) are installed in the locationsshown below in order to support the electrictailgate.zMake sure not to bump your head in the areanear the arm of the
electric tailgate when
loading and unloading luggage.

The driver’s switches can be used to operateall door windows. A window can be openedor closed by operating the correspondingswitch.Press the switch down to open the window,and pull up the switch to close it.If the switch for the driver’s window is fullypressed down/pulled up, the door windowautomatically opens/closes completely.If you want to stop the window movement,operate the switch lightly in the reverse direc-tion.
The passenger’s switches can be used to oper-ate the corresponding passenger’s door win-dows.Press the switch down for opening the win-dow, and pull up the switch for closing.

1. Remove the head restraints from the frontseats, raise the armrest and remove thecargo area cover.(Refer to “Head restraints” on page 5-5,“Armrest” on page 5-5 and “Cargo areacover” on page 8-71)
2. Slide the front seats fully forward, thenrecline the seatbacks backwards toachieve a flat surface.(Refer to “Front seats” on page 5-3)3. Recline the rear seatbacks backwards.(Refer to “Rear seats” on page 5-5)
4. The flat seat configuration is now com-plete. Reverse the above procedures whenreturning the seat to the normal position.

This type of belt requires no length adjust-ment. Once worn, the belt adjusts itself to themovement of wearer, but in the event of asudden or strong shock, the belt automaticallylocks to hold the wearer’s body.1. Pull the seat belt out slowly while holdingthe latch plate.
2. Insert the latch plate into the buckle untila “click” is heard. 3. Pull the belt slightly to adjust slackness asdesired.

Doing otherwise can be danger-ous.zThe seat belt will provide its wearer withmaximum protection if the recliner seat-back is placed in fully upright position.When the seatback is reclined, there isgreater risk that the passenger will slideunder the belt, especially in a forwardimpact accident, and may be injured bythe belt or by striking the instrumentpanel or seatbacks.zRemove any twists when using the belt.zNo modifications or
additions should be
made by the user which will either preventthe seat belt adjustin
g devices from oper-
ating to remove slack, or prevent the seatbelt assembly from being adjusted toremove slack.zNever hold a child in your arms or onyour lap when riding in this vehicle, evenif you are wearing your seat belt. To do sorisks severe or fatal injury to your child ina collision or sudden stop.
